(1 Chronicles 1:35–37)

1  וְאֵ֛לֶּה (And these are) תֹּלְד֥וֹת (the generations) עֵשָׂ֖ו (of Esau); ה֥וּא (he is) אֱדֽוֹם׃ (Edom). 2  עֵשָׂ֛ו (Esau) לָקַ֥ח (took) אֶת־ (-) נָשָׁ֖יו (his wives) מִבְּנ֣וֹת (from the daughters) כְּנָ֑עַן (of Canaan): אֶת־ (-) עָדָ֗ה (Adah) בַּת־ (daughter) אֵילוֹן֙ (of Elon) הַֽחִתִּ֔י (the Hittite), וְאֶת־ (and) אָהֳלִֽיבָמָה֙ (Oholibamah) בַּת־ (daughter) עֲנָ֔ה (of Anah) בַּת־ (daughter) צִבְע֖וֹן (of Zibeon) הַֽחִוִּֽי׃ (the Hivite), 3  וְאֶת־ (and) בָּשְׂמַ֥ת (Basemath) בַּת־ (daughter) יִשְׁמָעֵ֖אל (of Ishmael) אֲח֥וֹת (sister) נְבָיֽוֹת׃ (of Nebaioth). 4  וַתֵּ֧לֶד (And bore) עָדָ֛ה (Adah) לְעֵשָׂ֖ו (to Esau) אֶת־ (-) אֱלִיפָ֑ז (Eliphaz), וּבָ֣שְׂמַ֔ת (and Basemath) יָלְדָ֖ה (bore) אֶת־ (-) רְעוּאֵֽל׃ (Reuel), 5  וְאָהֳלִֽיבָמָה֙ (and Oholibamah) יָֽלְדָ֔ה (bore) אֶת־ (-) יְעִישׁ (Jeush), וְאֶת־ (and) יַעְלָ֖ם (Jaalam), וְאֶת־ (and) קֹ֑רַח (Korah). אֵ֚לֶּה (These were) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) עֵשָׂ֔ו (of Esau), אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who) יֻלְּדוּ־ (were born) ל֖וֹ (to him) בְּאֶ֥רֶץ (in the land) כְּנָֽעַן׃ (of Canaan).

6  וַיִּקַּ֣ח (And took) עֵשָׂ֡ו (Esau) אֶת־ (-) נָ֠שָׁיו (his wives), וְאֶת־ (and) בָּנָ֣יו (his sons), וְאֶת־ (and) בְּנֹתָיו֮ (his daughters), וְאֶת־ (and) כָּל־ (all) נַפְשׁ֣וֹת (the souls) בֵּיתוֹ֒ (of his house), וְאֶת־ (and) מִקְנֵ֣הוּ (his cattle), וְאֶת־ (and) כָּל־ (all) בְּהֶמְתּ֗וֹ (his animals), וְאֵת֙ (and) כָּל־ (all) קִנְיָנ֔וֹ (his property) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) רָכַ֖שׁ (he had acquired) בְּאֶ֣רֶץ (in the land) כְּנָ֑עַן (of Canaan), וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ (and he went) אֶל־ (to) אֶ֔רֶץ (a land) מִפְּנֵ֖י (away from the face) יַעֲקֹ֥ב (of Jacob) אָחִֽיו׃ (his brother). 7  כִּֽי־ (For) הָיָ֧ה (were) רְכוּשָׁ֛ם (their possessions) רָ֖ב (too great) מִשֶּׁ֣בֶת (for them to dwell) יַחְדָּ֑ו (together), וְלֹ֨א (and not) יָֽכְלָ֜ה (able) אֶ֤רֶץ (the land) מְגֽוּרֵיהֶם֙ (of their sojournings) לָשֵׂ֣את (to support) אֹתָ֔ם (them) מִפְּנֵ֖י (because) מִקְנֵיהֶֽם׃ (of their cattle). 8  וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב (And dwelt) עֵשָׂו֙ (Esau) בְּהַ֣ר (in the hill country) שֵׂעִ֔יר (of Seir) עֵשָׂ֖ו (Esau) ה֥וּא (is) אֱדֽוֹם׃ (Edom)).

9  וְאֵ֛לֶּה (And these are) תֹּלְד֥וֹת (the generations) עֵשָׂ֖ו (of Esau), אֲבִ֣י (the father) אֱד֑וֹם (of Edom) בְּהַ֖ר (in the hill country) שֵׂעִֽיר׃ (of Seir).

10  אֵ֖לֶּה (These are) שְׁמ֣וֹת (the names) בְּנֵֽי־ (of the sons) עֵשָׂ֑ו (of Esau): אֱלִיפַ֗ז (Eliphaz) בֶּן־ (son) עָדָה֙ (of Adah) אֵ֣שֶׁת (wife) עֵשָׂ֔ו (of Esau), רְעוּאֵ֕ל (and Reuel) בֶּן־ (son) בָּשְׂמַ֖ת (of Basemath) אֵ֥שֶׁת (wife) עֵשָֽׂו׃ (of Esau).

11  וַיִּהְי֖וּ (And were) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) אֱלִיפָ֑ז (of Eliphaz) תֵּימָ֣ן (Teman), אוֹמָ֔ר (Omar), צְפ֥וֹ (Zepho), וְגַעְתָּ֖ם (and Gatam), וּקְנַֽז׃ (and Kena z). 12  וְתִמְנַ֣ע׀ (And Timna) הָיְתָ֣ה (was) פִילֶ֗גֶשׁ (a concubine) לֶֽאֱלִיפַז֙ (to Eliphaz), בֶּן־ (son) עֵשָׂ֔ו (of Esau); וַתֵּ֥לֶד (and she bore) לֶאֱלִיפַ֖ז (to Eliphaz) אֶת־ (-) עֲמָלֵ֑ק (Amalek). אֵ֕לֶּה (These are) בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) עָדָ֖ה (of Adah) אֵ֥שֶׁת (wife) עֵשָֽׂו׃ (of Esau).

13  וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ (And these are) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) רְעוּאֵ֔ל (of Reuel): נַ֥חַת (Nahath), וָזֶ֖רַח (and Zerah), שַׁמָּ֣ה (Shammah), וּמִזָּ֑ה (and Mizzah). אֵ֣לֶּ֣ה (These) הָי֔וּ (were) בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) בָשְׂמַ֖ת (of Basemath) אֵ֥שֶׁת (wife) עֵשָֽׂו׃ (of Esau).

14  וְאֵ֣לֶּה (And these) הָי֗וּ (were) בְּנֵ֨י (the sons) אָהֳלִיבָמָ֧ה (of Oholibamah) בַת־ (daughter) עֲנָ֛ה (of Anah) בַּת־ (daughter) צִבְע֖וֹן (of Zibeon)) אֵ֣שֶׁת (wife) עֵשָׂ֑ו (of Esau); וַתֵּ֣לֶד (and she bore) לְעֵשָׂ֔ו (to Esau) אֶת־ (-) יְעִישׁ (Jeush), וְאֶת־ (and) יַעְלָ֖ם (Jalam), וְאֶת־ (and) קֹֽרַח׃ (Korah).

15  אֵ֖לֶּה (These are) אַלּוּפֵ֣י (the chiefs) בְנֵֽי־ (of the sons) עֵשָׂ֑ו (of Esau). בְּנֵ֤י (The sons) אֱלִיפַז֙ (of Eliphaz) בְּכ֣וֹר (the firstborn) עֵשָׂ֔ו (of Esau): אַלּ֤וּף (Chief) תֵּימָן֙ (Teman), אַלּ֣וּף (Chief) אוֹמָ֔ר (Omar), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) צְפ֖וֹ (Zepho), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) קְנַֽז׃ (Kena z), 16  אַלּֽוּף־ (Chief) קֹ֛רַח (Korah), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) גַּעְתָּ֖ם (Gatam), אַלּ֣וּף (and Chief) עֲמָלֵ֑ק (Amalek). אֵ֣לֶּה (These were) אַלּוּפֵ֤י (the chiefs) אֱלִיפַז֙ (of Eliphaz) בְּאֶ֣רֶץ (in the land) אֱד֔וֹם (of Edom); אֵ֖לֶּה (these were) בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) עָדָֽה׃ (of Adah).

17  וְאֵ֗לֶּה (And these are) בְּנֵ֤י (the sons) רְעוּאֵל֙ (of Reuel), בֶּן־ (son) עֵשָׂ֔ו (of Esau): אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) נַ֙חַת֙ (Nahath), אַלּ֣וּף (Chief) זֶ֔רַח (Zerah), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) שַׁמָּ֖ה (Shammah), אַלּ֣וּף (and Chief) מִזָּ֑ה (Mizzah). אֵ֣לֶּה (These are) אַלּוּפֵ֤י (the chiefs) רְעוּאֵל֙ (of Reuel) בְּאֶ֣רֶץ (in the land) אֱד֔וֹם (of Edom); אֵ֕לֶּה (these were) בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) בָשְׂמַ֖ת (of Basemath), אֵ֥שֶׁת (the wife) עֵשָֽׂו׃ (of Esau).

18  וְאֵ֗לֶּה (And these are) בְּנֵ֤י (the sons) אָהֳלִֽיבָמָה֙ (of Oholibamah), אֵ֣שֶׁת (wife) עֵשָׂ֔ו (of Esau): אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) יְע֛וּשׁ (Jeush), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) יַעְלָ֖ם (Jalam), אַלּ֣וּף (and Chief) קֹ֑רַח (Korah). אֵ֣לֶּה (These are) אַלּוּפֵ֞י (the chiefs) אָֽהֳלִיבָמָ֛ה (from Oholibamah), בַּת־ (daughter) עֲנָ֖ה (of Anah), אֵ֥שֶׁת (wife) עֵשָֽׂו׃ (of Esau).

19  אֵ֧לֶּה (These are) בְנֵי־ (the sons) עֵשָׂ֛ו (of Esau) וְאֵ֥לֶּה (and these were) אַלּוּפֵיהֶ֖ם (their chiefs) ה֥וּא (he is) אֱדֽוֹם׃ס (Edom)).

The Descendants of Seir
(1 Chronicles 1:38–42)

20  אֵ֤לֶּה (These are) בְנֵֽי־ (the sons) שֵׂעִיר֙ (of Seir) הַחֹרִ֔י (the Horite), יֹשְׁבֵ֖י (who were inhabiting) הָאָ֑רֶץ (the land): לוֹטָ֥ן (Lotan), וְשׁוֹבָ֖ל (and Shobal), וְצִבְע֥וֹן (and Zibeon), וַעֲנָֽה׃ (and Anah), 21  וְדִשׁ֥וֹן (and Dishon), וְאֵ֖צֶר (and Ezer), וְדִישָׁ֑ן (and Dishan). אֵ֣לֶּה (These are) אַלּוּפֵ֧י (the chiefs) הַחֹרִ֛י (of the Horite), בְּנֵ֥י (sons) שֵׂעִ֖יר (of Seir), בְּאֶ֥רֶץ (in the land) אֱדֽוֹם׃ (of Edom).

22  וַיִּהְי֥וּ (And were) בְנֵי־ (the sons) לוֹטָ֖ן (of Lotan); חֹרִ֣י (Hori) וְהֵימָ֑ם (and Hemam); וַאֲח֥וֹת (and sister) לוֹטָ֖ן (of Lotan) תִּמְנָֽע׃ (was Timna).

23  וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ (And these are) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) שׁוֹבָ֔ל (of Shobal): עַלְוָ֥ן (Alvan), וּמָנַ֖חַת (and Manahath), וְעֵיבָ֑ל (and Ebal), שְׁפ֖וֹ (Shepho), וְאוֹנָֽם׃ (and Onam).

24  וְאֵ֥לֶּה (And these are) בְנֵֽי־ (the sons) צִבְע֖וֹן (of Zibeon): וְאַיָּ֣ה (Aiah) וַעֲנָ֑ה (and Anah). ה֣וּא (He was) עֲנָ֗ה (the Anah) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (who) מָצָ֤א (found) אֶת־ (-) הַיֵּמִם֙ (the hot springs) בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר (in the wilderness), בִּרְעֹת֥וֹ (as he was pasturing) אֶת־ (-) הַחֲמֹרִ֖ים (the donkeys) לְצִבְע֥וֹן (of Zibeon) אָבִֽיו׃ (his father).

25  וְאֵ֥לֶּה (And these are) בְנֵֽי־ (the sons) עֲנָ֖ה (of Anah): דִּשֹׁ֑ן (Dishon) וְאָהֳלִיבָמָ֖ה (and Oholibamah) בַּת־ (daughter) עֲנָֽה׃ (of Anah).

26  וְאֵ֖לֶּה (And these are) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) דִישָׁ֑ן (of Dishan): חֶמְדָּ֥ן (Hemdan), וְאֶשְׁבָּ֖ן (and Eshban), וְיִתְרָ֥ן (and Ithran), וּכְרָֽן׃ (and Cheran).

27  אֵ֖לֶּה (These are) בְּנֵי־ (the sons) אֵ֑צֶר (of Ezer): בִּלְהָ֥ן (Bilhan), וְזַעֲוָ֖ן (and Zaavan), וַעֲקָֽן׃ (and Akan).

28  אֵ֥לֶּה (These are) בְנֵֽי־ (the sons) דִישָׁ֖ן (of Dishan): ע֥וּץ (Uz) וַאֲרָֽן׃ (and Aran).

29  אֵ֖לֶּה (These are) אַלּוּפֵ֣י (the chiefs) הַחֹרִ֑י (of the Horite): אַלּ֤וּף (Chief) לוֹטָן֙ (Lotan), אַלּ֣וּף (Chief) שׁוֹבָ֔ל (Shobal), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) צִבְע֖וֹן (Zibeon), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) עֲנָֽה׃ (Anah), 30  אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) דִּשֹׁ֛ן (Dishon), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) אֵ֖צֶר (Ezer), אַלּ֣וּף (and Chief) דִּישָׁ֑ן (Dishan). אֵ֣לֶּה (These are) אַלּוּפֵ֧י (the chiefs) הַחֹרִ֛י (of the Horite), לְאַלֻּפֵיהֶ֖ם (according to their chiefs) בְּאֶ֥רֶץ (in the land) שֵׂעִֽיר׃פ (of Seir).

The Kings of Edom
(1 Chronicles 1:43–54)

31  וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ (And these are) הַמְּלָכִ֔ים (the kings) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who) מָלְכ֖וּ (reigned) בְּאֶ֣רֶץ (in the land) אֱד֑וֹם (of Edom), לִפְנֵ֥י (before) מְלָךְ־ (there reigned) מֶ֖לֶךְ (a king) לִבְנֵ֥י (over the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel):

32  וַיִּמְלֹ֣ךְ (And reigned) בֶּאֱד֔וֹם (in Edom) בֶּ֖לַע (Bela) בֶּן־ (son) בְּע֑וֹר (of Beor), וְשֵׁ֥ם (and the name) עִיר֖וֹ (of his city was) דִּנְהָֽבָה׃ (Dinhabah).

33  וַיָּ֖מָת (And died) בָּ֑לַע (Bela), וַיִּמְלֹ֣ךְ (and reigned) תַּחְתָּ֔יו (in his place) יוֹבָ֥ב (Jobab) בֶּן־ (son) זֶ֖רַח (of Zerah) מִבָּצְרָֽה׃ (from Bozrah).

34  וַיָּ֖מָת (And died) יוֹבָ֑ב (Jobab), וַיִּמְלֹ֣ךְ (and reigned) תַּחְתָּ֔יו (in his place) חֻשָׁ֖ם (Husham) מֵאֶ֥רֶץ (from the land) הַתֵּימָנִֽי׃ (of the Temanite).

35  וַיָּ֖מָת (And died) חֻשָׁ֑ם (Husham), וַיִּמְלֹ֨ךְ (and reigned) תַּחְתָּ֜יו (in his place) הֲדַ֣ד (Hadad) בֶּן־ (son) בְּדַ֗ד (of Bedad), הַמַּכֶּ֤ה (who struck) אֶת־ (-) מִדְיָן֙ (Midian) בִּשְׂדֵ֣ה (in the field) מוֹאָ֔ב (of Moab); וְשֵׁ֥ם (and the name) עִיר֖וֹ (of his city was) עֲוִֽית׃ (Avith).

36  וַיָּ֖מָת (And died) הֲדָ֑ד (Hadad), וַיִּמְלֹ֣ךְ (and reigned) תַּחְתָּ֔יו (in his place) שַׂמְלָ֖ה (Samlah) מִמַּשְׂרֵקָֽה׃ (from Masrekah).

37  וַיָּ֖מָת (And died) שַׂמְלָ֑ה (Samlah), וַיִּמְלֹ֣ךְ (and reigned) תַּחְתָּ֔יו (in his place) שָׁא֖וּל (Saul) מֵרְחֹב֥וֹת (from Rehoboth) הַנָּהָֽר׃ (by the River).

38  וַיָּ֖מָת (And died) שָׁא֑וּל (Saul), וַיִּמְלֹ֣ךְ (and reigned) תַּחְתָּ֔יו (in his place) בַּ֥עַל (and Baal-) חָנָ֖ן (hanan) בֶּן־ (son) עַכְבּֽוֹר׃ (of Achbor).

39  וַיָּמָת֮ (And died) בַּ֣עַל (and Baal-) חָנָ֣ן (hanan) בֶּן־ (son) עַכְבּוֹר֒ (of Achbor), וַיִּמְלֹ֤ךְ (and reigned) תַּחְתָּיו֙ (in his place) הֲדַ֔ר (Hadar); וְשֵׁ֥ם (and the name) עִיר֖וֹ (of his city was) פָּ֑עוּ (Pau), וְשֵׁ֨ם (and the name) אִשְׁתּ֤וֹ (of his wife) מְהֵֽיטַבְאֵל֙ (was Mehetabel) בַּת־ (daughter) מַטְרֵ֔ד (of Matred), בַּ֖ת (daughter) מֵ֥י (of Me-) זָהָֽב׃ (zahab).

40  וְ֠אֵלֶּה (And these are) שְׁמ֞וֹת (the names) אַלּוּפֵ֤י (of the chiefs) עֵשָׂו֙ (of Esau), לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֔ם (according to their clans), לִמְקֹמֹתָ֖ם (according to their places), בִּשְׁמֹתָ֑ם (by their names): אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) תִּמְנָ֛ע (Timna), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) עַֽלְוָ֖ה (Alvah), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) יְתֵֽת׃ (Jetheth), 41  אַלּ֧וּף (Chief) אָהֳלִיבָמָ֛ה (Oholibamah), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) אֵלָ֖ה (Elah), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) פִּינֹֽן׃ (Pinon), 42  אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) קְנַ֛ז (Kenaz), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) תֵּימָ֖ן (Teman), אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) מִבְצָֽר׃ (Mibzar), 43  אַלּ֥וּף (Chief) מַגְדִּיאֵ֖ל (Magdiel), אַלּ֣וּף (and Chief) עִירָ֑ם (Iram). אֵ֣לֶּה׀ (These are) אַלּוּפֵ֣י (the chiefs) אֱד֗וֹם (of Edom), לְמֹֽשְׁבֹתָם֙ (according to their settlements) בְּאֶ֣רֶץ (in the land) אֲחֻזָּתָ֔ם (of their possession). ה֥וּא (He is) עֵשָׂ֖ו (Esau) אֲבִ֥י (the father) אֱדֽוֹם׃פ (of Edom).
