Judgments and Promises
(Romans 10:1–21)

1  נִדְרַ֙שְׁתִּי֙ (I was ready to be searched out) לְל֣וֹא (by not) שָׁאָ֔לוּ (those who did ask)

נִמְצֵ֖אתִי (I was found) לְלֹ֣א (by not); בִקְשֻׁ֑נִי (those who did seek Me)

אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙ (I said), הִנֵּ֣נִי (Behold me) הִנֵּ֔נִי (behold me)

אֶל־ (to) גּ֖וֹי (a nation) לֹֽא־ (not) קֹרָ֥א (calling) בִשְׁמִֽי׃ (on My name).

2  פֵּרַ֧שְׂתִּי (I have spread out) יָדַ֛י (My hands) כָּל־ (all) הַיּ֖וֹם (the day)

אֶל־ (to) עַ֣ם (a people), סוֹרֵ֑ר (rebellious)

הַהֹלְכִים֙ (those walking) הַדֶּ֣רֶךְ (a way) לֹא־ (not) ט֔וֹב (good),

אַחַ֖ר (after) מַחְשְׁבֹתֵיהֶֽם׃ (their thoughts);

3  הָעָ֗ם (the people) הַמַּכְעִיסִ֥ים (provoking) אוֹתִ֛י (Me) עַל־ (to) פָּנַ֖י (my face); תָּמִ֑יד (continually)

זֹֽבְחִים֙ (offering sacrifices) בַּגַּנּ֔וֹת (in the gardens),

וּֽמְקַטְּרִ֖ים (and burning incense) עַל־ (on) הַלְּבֵנִֽים׃ (the bricks);

4  הַיֹּֽשְׁבִים֙ (sitting) בַּקְּבָרִ֔ים (among the graves),

וּבַנְּצוּרִ֖ים (and in lookouts), יָלִ֑ינוּ (spending nights)

הָאֹֽכְלִים֙ (those eating) בְּשַׂ֣ר (the flesh), הַחֲזִ֔יר (of swine)

וּפְרַק (and the broth of) פִּגֻּלִ֖ים (of abominations) כְּלֵיהֶֽם׃ (in their vessels);

5  הָאֹֽמְרִים֙ (those saying), קְרַ֣ב (Keep) אֵלֶ֔יךָ (yourself away)

אַל־ (do not) תִּגַּשׁ־ (come near) בִּ֖י (to me) כִּ֣י (for) קְדַשְׁתִּ֑יךָ (I am set apart from you)

אֵ֚לֶּה (these are) עָשָׁ֣ן (smoke) בְּאַפִּ֔י (in My nostrils),

אֵ֥שׁ (a fire) יֹקֶ֖דֶת (burning) כָּל־ (all) הַיּֽוֹם׃ (the day).

6  הִנֵּ֥ה (Behold), כְתוּבָ֖ה (it is written) לְפָנָ֑י (before My face)

לֹ֤א (and not) אֶחֱשֶׂה֙ (will I keep silent), כִּ֣י (but) אִם־ (-) שִׁלַּ֔מְתִּי (I will repay),

וְשִׁלַּמְתִּ֖י (and I will pay it back) עַל־ (into) חֵיקָֽם׃ (their bosom),

7  עֲ֠וֺנֹתֵיכֶם (your⁺ iniquities),

וַעֲוֺנֹ֨ת (and the iniquities) אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֤ם (of your⁺ fathers) יַחְדָּו֙ (together),

אָמַ֣ר (has said) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH),

אֲשֶׁ֤ר (Because) קִטְּרוּ֙ (they have burned incense) עַל־ (on) הֶ֣הָרִ֔ים (the mountains),

וְעַל־ (and on) הַגְּבָע֖וֹת (the hills), חֵרְפ֑וּנִי (they have scorned Me)

וּמַדֹּתִ֧י (so I will measure out) פְעֻלָּתָ֛ם (their wages) רִֽאשֹׁנָ֖ה (first)

עַל (into) חֵיקָֽם׃ס (their bosom)

8  כֹּ֣ה׀ (Thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֗ה (YHWH),

כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר (As when) יִמָּצֵ֤א (is found) הַתִּירוֹשׁ֙ (the new wine) בָּֽאֶשְׁכּ֔וֹל (in the cluster),

וְאָמַר֙ (and one says), אַל־ (Not); תַּשְׁחִיתֵ֔הוּ (should you destroy it) כִּ֥י (for) בְרָכָ֖ה (blessing is) בּ֑וֹ (in it)

כֵּ֤ן (so) אֶֽעֱשֶׂה֙ (will I do) לְמַ֣עַן (for the sake) עֲבָדַ֔י (of My servants)

לְבִלְתִּ֖י (so as not) הַֽשְׁחִ֥ית (to destroy) הַכֹּֽל׃ (them all).

9  וְהוֹצֵאתִ֤י (And I will bring forth) מִֽיַּעֲקֹב֙ (from Jacob) זֶ֔רַע (a seed)

וּמִיהוּדָ֖ה (and from Judah) יוֹרֵ֣שׁ (one inheriting) הָרָ֑י (My mountains);

וִירֵשׁ֣וּהָ (and will inherit it) בְחִירַ֔י (My chosen ones)

וַעֲבָדַ֖י (and My servants) יִשְׁכְּנוּ־ (will dwell) שָֽׁמָּה׃ (there).

10  וְהָיָ֤ה (Will become) הַשָּׁרוֹן֙ (and Sharon) לִנְוֵה־ (as a habitation) צֹ֔אן (for the flock),

וְעֵ֥מֶק (and the Valley) עָכ֖וֹר (of Achor) לְרֵ֣בֶץ (as a resting place), בָּקָ֑ר (for herds)

לְעַמִּ֖י (for my people) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who) דְּרָשֽׁוּנִי׃ (have sought Me).

11  וְאַתֶּם֙ (And you⁺) עֹזְבֵ֣י (forsaking) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH),

הַשְּׁכֵחִ֖ים (those forgetful of) אֶת־ (-) הַ֣ר (mountain), קָדְשִׁ֑י (My holy)

הַֽעֹרְכִ֤ים (those arranging) לַגַּד֙ (for Fortune) שֻׁלְחָ֔ן (a table)

וְהַֽמְמַלְאִ֖ים (and those filling) לַמְנִ֥י (for Destiny) מִמְסָֽךְ׃ (mixed wine).

12  וּמָנִ֨יתִי (And I will appoint) אֶתְכֶ֜ם (you⁺) לַחֶ֗רֶב (for the sword),

וְכֻלְּכֶם֙ (and you⁺ all) לַטֶּ֣בַח (to the slaughter). תִּכְרָ֔עוּ (Will bow down)

יַ֤עַן (because) קָרָ֙אתִי֙ (I called), וְלֹ֣א (and not) עֲנִיתֶ֔ם (did you⁺ answer);

דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי (I spoke), וְלֹ֣א (and not) שְׁמַעְתֶּ֑ם (did you⁺ hear);

וַתַּעֲשׂ֤וּ (and you⁺ did) הָרַע֙ (evil) בְּעֵינַ֔י (in My eyes),

וּבַאֲשֶׁ֥ר (that in which) לֹֽא־ (not). חָפַ֖צְתִּי (I do take delight) בְּחַרְתֶּֽם׃פ (you⁺ chose).

13  לָכֵ֞ן (Therefore) כֹּה־ (thus) אָמַ֣ר׀ (says) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהוִ֗ה (YHWH),

הִנֵּ֨ה (Behold), עֲבָדַ֤י׀ (My servants) יֹאכֵ֙לוּ֙ (will eat),

וְאַתֶּ֣ם (and you⁺) תִּרְעָ֔בוּ (will go hungry).

הִנֵּ֧ה (Behold), עֲבָדַ֛י (My servants) יִשְׁתּ֖וּ (will drink),

וְאַתֶּ֣ם (and you⁺) תִּצְמָ֑אוּ (will go thirsty).

הִנֵּ֧ה (Behold), עֲבָדַ֛י (My servants) יִשְׂמָ֖חוּ (will be glad),

וְאַתֶּ֥ם (and you⁺) תֵּבֹֽשׁוּ׃ (will be put to shame);

14  הִנֵּ֧ה (behold), עֲבָדַ֛י (My servants) יָרֹ֖נּוּ (will sing out) מִטּ֣וּב (from goodness) לֵ֑ב (of heart),

וְאַתֶּ֤ם (and you⁺) תִּצְעֲקוּ֙ (will cry out) מִכְּאֵ֣ב (from pain) לֵ֔ב (of heart),

וּמִשֵּׁ֥בֶר (and from a breaking) ר֖וּחַ (of spirit) תְּיֵלִֽילוּ׃ (you⁺ will wail).

15  וְהִנַּחְתֶּ֨ם (And you⁺ will leave behind) שִׁמְכֶ֤ם (your⁺ name)

לִשְׁבוּעָה֙ (as a curse) לִבְחִירַ֔י (for My chosen ones);

וֶהֱמִיתְךָ֖ (and will slay you) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהוִ֑ה (YHWH)

וְלַעֲבָדָ֥יו (and to His servants) יִקְרָ֖א (He will call out) שֵׁ֥ם (name) אַחֵֽר׃ (another).

16  אֲשֶׁ֨ר (That) הַמִּתְבָּרֵ֜ךְ (the one blessing himself) בָּאָ֗רֶץ (in the land)

יִתְבָּרֵךְ֙ (will bless himself) בֵּאלֹהֵ֣י (by the God) אָמֵ֔ן (of truth);

וְהַנִּשְׁבָּ֣ע (and the one swearing) בָּאָ֔רֶץ (in the land)

יִשָּׁבַ֖ע (will swear) בֵּאלֹהֵ֣י (by the God) אָמֵ֑ן (of truth);

כִּ֣י (for) נִשְׁכְּח֗וּ (will be forgotten), הַצָּרוֹת֙ (the troubles) הָרִ֣אשֹׁנ֔וֹת (former)

וְכִ֥י (for) נִסְתְּר֖וּ (they will be hidden) מֵעֵינָֽי׃ (from My eyes).

A New Heaven and a New Earth
(Revelation 21:1–8)

17  כִּֽי־ (For), הִנְנִ֥י (behold, I) בוֹרֵ֛א (will create)

שָׁמַ֥יִם (heavens) חֲדָשִׁ֖ים (new) וָאָ֣רֶץ (and an earth); חֲדָשָׁ֑ה (new)

וְלֹ֤א (and not) תִזָּכַ֙רְנָה֙ (will be remembered), הָרִ֣אשֹׁנ֔וֹת (the former things)

וְלֹ֥א (and not) תַעֲלֶ֖ינָה (will they come up) עַל־ (upon) לֵֽב׃ (the heart).

18  כִּֽי־ (But), אִם־ (rather) שִׂ֤ישׂוּ (be glad) וְגִ֙ילוּ֙ (and rejoice) עֲדֵי־ (forever) עַ֔ד (and ever)

אֲשֶׁ֖ר (in that which) אֲנִ֣י (I) בוֹרֵ֑א (am creating);

כִּי֩ (for) הִנְנִ֨י (behold I am) בוֹרֵ֧א (am creating) אֶת־ (-) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֛ם (Jerusalem) גִּילָ֖ה (as rejoicing),

וְעַמָּ֥הּ (and her people) מָשֽׂוֹשׂ׃ (as joy).

19  וְגַלְתִּ֥י (And I will rejoice) בִירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם (in Jerusalem),

וְשַׂשְׂתִּ֣י (and take delight) בְעַמִּ֑י (in My people);

וְלֹֽא־ (and not) יִשָּׁמַ֥ע (it will be heard) בָּהּ֙ (in her) ע֔וֹד (any longer)

ק֥וֹל (the voice) בְּכִ֖י (of weeping) וְק֥וֹל (and the voice) זְעָקָֽה׃ (of crying out).

20  לֹא־ (Not) יִֽהְיֶ֨ה (will there be) מִשָּׁ֜ם (from there) ע֗וֹד (anymore) ע֤וּל (an infant) יָמִים֙ (of days),

וְזָקֵ֔ן (or an elder) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who) לֹֽא־ (not) יְמַלֵּ֖א (does fulfill) אֶת־ (-) יָמָ֑יו (his days);

כִּ֣י (for) הַנַּ֗עַר (the youth) בֶּן־ (a son) מֵאָ֤ה (of a hundred) שָׁנָה֙ (years) יָמ֔וּת (will die) וְהַ֣חוֹטֶ֔א (and the one falling short of)

בֶּן־ (a son) מֵאָ֥ה (being a hundred) שָׁנָ֖ה (years old)

יְקֻלָּֽל׃ (will be accursed).

21  וּבָנ֥וּ (And they build) בָתִּ֖ים (houses), וְיָשָׁ֑בוּ (and dwell)

וְנָטְע֣וּ (and they will plant) כְרָמִ֔ים (vineyards), וְאָכְל֖וּ (and eat) פִּרְיָֽם׃ (their fruit).

22  לֹ֤א (Not) יִבְנוּ֙ (will they build), וְאַחֵ֣ר (and another) יֵשֵׁ֔ב (dwell there);

לֹ֥א (not) יִטְּע֖וּ (they will plant), וְאַחֵ֣ר (and another) יֹאכֵ֑ל (eat);

כִּֽי־ (for) כִימֵ֤י (like the days) הָעֵץ֙ (of a tree)

יְמֵ֣י (are the days) עַמִּ֔י (of My people),

וּמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה (and the work) יְדֵיהֶ֖ם (of their hands)

יְבַלּ֥וּ (will wear out) בְחִירָֽי׃ (my chosen ones).

23  לֹ֤א (Not) יִֽיגְעוּ֙ (they will toil) לָרִ֔יק (in vain),

וְלֹ֥א (and not) יֵלְד֖וּ (they will bring forth) לַבֶּהָלָ֑ה (for disaster);

כִּ֣י (for they are) זֶ֜רַע (a seed) בְּרוּכֵ֤י (blessed) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH)

הֵ֔מָּה (they) וְצֶאֱצָאֵיהֶ֖ם (and their offspring) אִתָּֽם׃ (with them).

24  וְהָיָ֥ה (And it will come to pass), טֶֽרֶם־ (that before) יִקְרָ֖אוּ (they call), וַאֲנִ֣י (then I) אֶעֱנֶ֑ה (will answer);

ע֛וֹד (and while still) הֵ֥ם (they) מְדַבְּרִ֖ים (are speaking), וַאֲנִ֥י (then I) אֶשְׁמָֽע׃ (will hear).

25  זְאֵ֨ב (The wolf) וְטָלֶ֜ה (and the lamb) יִרְע֣וּ (will pasture) כְאֶחָ֗ד (as one),

וְאַרְיֵה֙ (and the lion) כַּבָּקָ֣ר (like the ox); יֹֽאכַל־ (will eat) תֶּ֔בֶן (straw)

וְנָחָ֖שׁ (and the serpent) עָפָ֣ר (dust is) לַחְמ֑וֹ (its food).

לֹֽא־ (Not) יָרֵ֧עוּ (they will cause harm) וְלֹֽא־ (and not) יַשְׁחִ֛יתוּ (destroy)

בְּכָל־ (in all) הַ֥ר (mountain), קָדְשִׁ֖י (My holy)

אָמַ֥ר (says) יְהוָֽה׃ס (YHWH).
