The Conquest of Ai

1 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And said) יְהוָ֤ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ (Joshua), אַל־ (Not) תִּירָ֣א (do be afraid), וְאַל־ (and not) תֵּחָ֔ת (do be dismayed). קַ֣ח (Take) עִמְּךָ֗ (with you) אֵ֚ת (-) כָּל־ (all) עַ֣ם (the people) הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה (of war) וְק֖וּם (and arise), עֲלֵ֣ה (go up) הָעָ֑י (to Ai). רְאֵ֣ה׀ (Behold), נָתַ֣תִּי (I have given) בְיָדְךָ֗ (into your hand) אֶת־ (-) מֶ֤לֶךְ (the king) הָעַי֙ (of Ai), וְאֶת־ (and) עַמּ֔וֹ (his people), וְאֶת־ (and) עִיר֖וֹ (his city), וְאֶת־ (and) אַרְצֽוֹ׃ (his land). 2 וְעָשִׂ֨יתָ (And you shall do) לָעַ֜י (to Ai) וּלְמַלְכָּ֗הּ (and its king) כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר (as) עָשִׂ֤יתָ (you did) לִֽירִיחוֹ֙ (to Jericho) וּלְמַלְכָּ֔הּ (and to its king); רַק־ (only) שְׁלָלָ֥הּ (its spoil) וּבְהֶמְתָּ֖הּ (and its cattle) תָּבֹ֣זּוּ (you⁺ shall take as plunder) לָכֶ֑ם (for yourselves). שִׂים־ (Set up) לְךָ֥ (to you) אֹרֵ֛ב (an ambush) לָעִ֖יר (for the city) מֵאַחֲרֶֽיהָ׃ (behind it).

3 וַיָּ֧קָם (And arose) יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ (Joshua) וְכָל־ (and all) עַ֥ם (the people) הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה (of war) לַעֲל֣וֹת (to go up against) הָעָ֑י (Ai), וַיִּבְחַ֣ר (and chose) יְ֠הוֹשֻׁעַ (Joshua) שְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים (thirty) אֶ֤לֶף (thousand) אִישׁ֙ (men) גִּבּוֹרֵ֣י (mighty) הַחַ֔יִל (of valor), וַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֖ם (and sent them away) לָֽיְלָה׃ (by night). 4 וַיְצַ֨ו (And he commanded) אֹתָ֜ם (them), לֵאמֹ֗ר (saying), רְ֠אוּ (Behold), אַתֶּ֞ם (you⁺) אֹרְבִ֤ים (shall lie in ambush) לָעִיר֙ (against the city), מֵאַחֲרֵ֣י (behind) הָעִ֔יר (the city). אַל־ (Not) תַּרְחִ֥יקוּ (do go far) מִן־ (from) הָעִ֖יר (the city) מְאֹ֑ד (very), וִהְיִיתֶ֥ם (and be) כֻּלְּכֶ֖ם (all of you⁺) נְכֹנִֽים׃ (ready). 5 וַאֲנִ֗י (And I) וְכָל־ (and all) הָעָם֙ (the people) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (who are) אִתִּ֔י (with me) נִקְרַ֖ב (will approach) אֶל־ (unto) הָעִ֑יר (the city). וְהָיָ֗ה (And it shall come to pass), כִּֽי־ (when) יֵצְא֤וּ (they come out) לִקְרָאתֵ֙נוּ֙ (against us) כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר (as) בָּרִֽאשֹׁנָ֔ה (at the first), וְנַ֖סְנוּ (that we shall flee) לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ (before their faces). 6 וְיָצְא֣וּ (And for they will come out) אַחֲרֵ֗ינוּ (after us) עַ֣ד (until) הַתִּיקֵ֤נוּ (we have drawn) אוֹתָם֙ (them) מִן־ (from) הָעִ֔יר (the city), כִּ֣י (for) יֹֽאמְר֔וּ (they will say), נָסִ֣ים (They are fleeing) לְפָנֵ֔ינוּ (before our faces) כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר (as) בָּרִֽאשֹׁנָ֑ה (at the first). וְנַ֖סְנוּ (And we will flee) לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ (before their faces), 7 וְאַתֶּ֗ם (and you⁺) תָּקֻ֙מוּ֙ (shall rise) מֵהָ֣אוֹרֵ֔ב (from the ambush) וְהוֹרַשְׁתֶּ֖ם (and seize) אֶת־ (-) הָעִ֑יר (the city), וּנְתָנָ֛הּ (and for will deliver it) יְהוָ֥ה (YHWH) אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֖ם (your⁺ God) בְּיֶדְכֶֽם׃ (into your⁺ hands). 8 וְהָיָ֞ה (And it shall come to pass), כְּתָפְשְׂכֶ֣ם (when you⁺ have taken) אֶת־ (-) הָעִ֗יר (the city), תַּצִּ֤יתוּ (that you⁺ shall set) אֶת־ (-) הָעִיר֙ (the city) בָּאֵ֔שׁ (on the fire). כִּדְבַ֥ר (According to the commandment) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) תַּעֲשׂ֑וּ (you⁺ shall do). רְא֖וּ (See), צִוִּ֥יתִי (I have commanded) אֶתְכֶֽם׃ (you⁺).

9 וַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֣ם (And sent them out) יְהוֹשֻׁ֗עַ (Joshua) וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙ (and they went), אֶל־ (to) הַמַּאְרָ֔ב (the ambush), וַיֵּשְׁב֗וּ (and stayed) בֵּ֧ין (between) בֵּֽית־ (Beth-) אֵ֛ל (el) וּבֵ֥ין (and between) הָעַ֖י (Ai), מִיָּ֣ם (on the west side) לָעָ֑י (of Ai). וַיָּ֧לֶן (And lodged) יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ (Joshua) בַּלַּ֥יְלָה (the night) הַה֖וּא (that) בְּת֥וֹךְ (in the midst) הָעָֽם׃ (of the people).

10 וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֤ם (And rose up early) יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ (Joshua) בַּבֹּ֔קֶר (in the morning), וַיִּפְקֹ֖ד (and mustered) אֶת־ (-) הָעָ֑ם (the people), וַיַּ֨עַל (and went up) ה֜וּא (he) וְזִקְנֵ֧י (and the elders) יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל (of Israel) לִפְנֵ֥י (before the face of) הָעָ֖ם (the people) הָעָֽי׃ (to Ai). 11 וְכָל־ (And all) הָעָ֨ם (the people) הַמִּלְחָמָ֜ה (of war) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (who were) אִתּ֗וֹ (with him) עָלוּ֙ (went up), וַֽיִּגְּשׁ֔וּ (and drew near), וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ (and they came) נֶ֣גֶד (before) הָעִ֑יר (the city) וַֽיַּחֲנוּ֙ (and camped) מִצְּפ֣וֹן (on the north side) לָעַ֔י (of Ai), וְהַגַּ֖י (and the valley) בֵּינוֹ (was between them) וּבֵין־ (and between) הָעָֽי׃ (Ai).

12 וַיִּקַּ֕ח (And he took) כַּחֲמֵ֥שֶׁת (about five) אֲלָפִ֖ים (thousand) אִ֑ישׁ (men), וַיָּ֨שֶׂם (and set) אוֹתָ֜ם (them) אֹרֵ֗ב (in ambush) בֵּ֧ין (between) בֵּֽית־ (Beth-) אֵ֛ל (el) וּבֵ֥ין (and between) הָעַ֖י (Ai), מִיָּ֥ם (on the west side) לָעִֽיר׃ (of the city). 13 וַיָּשִׂ֨ימוּ (And they had set) הָעָ֜ם (the people) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֗ה (the army) אֲשֶׁר֙ (that was) מִצְּפ֣וֹן (on the north) לָעִ֔יר (of the city), וְאֶת־ (and) עֲקֵב֖וֹ (its rear guard) מִיָּ֣ם (on the west) לָעִ֑יר (of the city), וַיֵּ֧לֶךְ (and went) יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ (Joshua) בַּלַּ֥יְלָה (the night) הַה֖וּא (that) בְּת֥וֹךְ (into the midst) הָעֵֽמֶק׃ (of the valley).

14 וַיְהִ֞י (And it came to pass), כִּרְא֣וֹת (when saw it) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (the king) הָעַ֗י (of Ai), וַֽיְמַהֲר֡וּ (that they hurried) וַיַּשְׁכִּ֡ימוּ (and rose early) וַיֵּצְא֣וּ (and went out) אַנְשֵֽׁי־ (the men) הָעִ֣יר (of the city) לִקְרַֽאת־ (against) יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל (Israel) לַֽמִּלְחָמָ֞ה (into battle), ה֧וּא (he) וְכָל־ (and all) עַמּ֛וֹ (his people), לַמּוֹעֵ֖ד (to an appointed place) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face of) הָֽעֲרָבָ֑ה (the plain). וְהוּא֙ (And he) לֹ֣א (not) יָדַ֔ע (did know) כִּֽי־ (that) אֹרֵ֥ב (an ambush) ל֖וֹ (was against him) מֵאַחֲרֵ֥י (behind) הָעִֽיר׃ (the city). 15 וַיִּנָּֽגְע֛וּ (And let themselves be beaten back) יְהוֹשֻׁ֥עַ (Joshua) וְכָל־ (and all) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (Israel) לִפְנֵיהֶ֑ם (before their faces), וַיָּנֻ֖סוּ (and they fled) דֶּ֥רֶךְ (by the way) הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃ (of the wilderness). 16 וַיִּזָּעֲק֗וּ (And were called together) כָּל־ (all) הָעָם֙ (the people) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (who were) בָּעִיר (in the city) לִרְדֹּ֖ף (to pursue) אַחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם (after them), וַֽיִּרְדְּפוּ֙ (and they pursued) אַחֲרֵ֣י (after them) יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ (Joshua), וַיִּנָּתְק֖וּ (and they were drawn away) מִן־ (from) הָעִֽיר׃ (the city). 17 וְלֹֽא־ (And not) נִשְׁאַ֣ר (there was left) אִ֗ישׁ (a man) בָּעַי֙ (in Ai) וּבֵ֣ית (and Beth-) אֵ֔ל (el) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who) לֹֽא־ (not) יָצְא֖וּ (did go out) אַחֲרֵ֣י (after) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (Israel). וַיַּעַזְב֤וּ (And they left) אֶת־ (-) הָעִיר֙ (the city) פְּתוּחָ֔ה (open) וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֖וּ (and pursued) אַחֲרֵ֥י (after) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃פ (Israel).

18 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And said) יְהוָ֜ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) יְהוֹשֻׁ֗עַ (Joshua), נְ֠טֵה (Stretch out) בַּכִּיד֤וֹן (the battle lance) אֲשֶׁר־ (that is) בְּיָֽדְךָ֙ (in your hand) אֶל־ (toward) הָעַ֔י (Ai), כִּ֥י (for) בְיָדְךָ֖ (into your hand) אֶתְּנֶ֑נָּה (I will give it). וַיֵּ֧ט (And stretched out) יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ (Joshua) בַּכִּיד֥וֹן (the battle lance) אֲשֶׁר־ (that was) בְּיָד֖וֹ (in his hand) אֶל־ (toward) הָעִֽיר׃ (the city). 19 וְהָאוֹרֵ֡ב (And the ambush) קָם֩ (arose) מְהֵרָ֨ה (quickly) מִמְּקוֹמ֤וֹ (out of its place), וַיָּר֙וּצוּ֙ (and they ran) כִּנְט֣וֹת (at the stretching out) יָד֔וֹ (of his hand), וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ (and they entered) הָעִ֖יר (the city) וַֽיִּלְכְּד֑וּהָ (and took it), וַֽיְמַהֲר֔וּ (and they hurried) וַיַּצִּ֥יתוּ (and burned) אֶת־ (-) הָעִ֖יר (the city) בָּאֵֽשׁ׃ (with the fire).

20 וַיִּפְנ֣וּ (And looked) אַנְשֵׁי֩ (the men) הָעַ֨י (of Ai) אַחֲרֵיהֶ֜ם (behind them) וַיִּרְא֗וּ (and they saw), וְהִנֵּ֨ה (and behold), עָלָ֜ה (ascended) עֲשַׁ֤ן (the smoke) הָעִיר֙ (of the city) הַשָּׁמַ֔יְמָה (to the heavens). וְלֹא־ (And not) הָיָ֨ה (there was) בָהֶ֥ם (in them) יָדַ֛יִם (power) לָנ֖וּס (to flee) הֵ֣נָּה (here) וָהֵ֑נָּה (or there), וְהָעָם֙ (and the people) הַנָּ֣ס (who had fled) הַמִּדְבָּ֔ר (to the wilderness) נֶהְפַּ֖ךְ (turned back) אֶל־ (on) הָרוֹדֵֽף׃ (the pursuers). 21 וִיהוֹשֻׁ֨עַ (And Joshua) וְכָֽל־ (and all) יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל (Israel) רָא֗וּ (saw) כִּֽי־ (that) לָכַ֤ד (had taken) הָֽאֹרֵב֙ (the ambush) אֶת־ (-) הָעִ֔יר (the city), וְכִ֥י (and that) עָלָ֖ה (ascended) עֲשַׁ֣ן (the smoke) הָעִ֑יר (of the city), וַיָּשֻׁ֕בוּ (and they turned back) וַיַּכּ֖וּ (and struck down) אֶת־ (-) אַנְשֵׁ֥י (the men) הָעָֽי׃ (of Ai). 22 וְאֵ֨לֶּה (And these) יָצְא֤וּ (came) מִן־ (out) הָעִיר֙ (of the city) לִקְרָאתָ֔ם (to meet them), וַיִּֽהְי֤וּ (and they were) לְיִשְׂרָאֵל֙ (of Israel) בַּתָּ֔וֶךְ (in the midst), אֵ֥לֶּה (these) מִזֶּ֖ה (from this side) וְאֵ֣לֶּה (and these) מִזֶּ֑ה (from this side), וַיַּכּ֣וּ (and they struck down) אוֹתָ֔ם (them) עַד־ (until) בִּלְתִּ֥י (not) הִשְׁאִֽיר־ (he left) ל֖וֹ (to him) שָׂרִ֥יד (a survivor) וּפָלִֽיט׃ (or escapee). 23 וְאֶת־ (And) מֶ֥לֶךְ (the king) הָעַ֖י (of Ai) תָּ֣פְשׂוּ (they took) חָ֑י (alive) וַיַּקְרִ֥בוּ (and they brought) אֹת֖וֹ (him) אֶל־ (to) יְהוֹשֻֽׁעַ׃ (Joshua).

24 וַיְהִ֣י (And it came to pass), כְּכַלּ֣וֹת (when had made an end) יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל (Israel) לַהֲרֹג֩ (of slaying) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) יֹשְׁבֵ֨י (the dwellers) הָעַ֜י (of Ai) בַּשָּׂדֶ֗ה (in the field), בַּמִּדְבָּר֙ (in the wilderness) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (where) רְדָפ֣וּם (they pursued) בּ֔וֹ (them), וַֽיִּפְּל֥וּ (and they had fallen) כֻלָּ֛ם (all of them) לְפִי־ (by the edge) חֶ֖רֶב (of the sword) עַד־ (until) תֻּמָּ֑ם (they were consumed), וַיָּשֻׁ֤בוּ (that returned) כָל־ (all) יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ (Israel) הָעַ֔י (to Ai) וַיַּכּ֥וּ (and) אֹתָ֖הּ (struck it) לְפִי־ (with the mouth) חָֽרֶב׃ (of the sword). 25 וַיְהִי֩ (And it was that) כָל־ (all) הַנֹּ֨פְלִ֜ים (who fell) בַּיּ֤וֹם (the day) הַהוּא֙ (that), מֵאִ֣ישׁ (from man) וְעַד־ (and to) אִשָּׁ֔ה (woman), שְׁנֵ֥ים (two) עָשָׂ֖ר (and ten) אָ֑לֶף (thousand)— כֹּ֖ל (all) אַנְשֵׁ֥י (men) הָעָֽי׃ (of Ai). 26 וִיהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ (And for Joshua) לֹֽא־ (not) הֵשִׁ֣יב (did draw back) יָד֔וֹ (his hand) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (with which) נָטָ֖ה (he stretched out) בַּכִּיד֑וֹן (the battle lance) עַ֚ד (until) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) הֶחֱרִ֔ים (he had devoted to destruction) אֵ֖ת (-) כָּל־ (all) יֹשְׁבֵ֥י (those dwelling) הָעָֽי׃ (in Ai). 27 רַ֣ק (Only) הַבְּהֵמָ֗ה (the livestock) וּשְׁלַל֙ (and the spoil) הָעִ֣יר (of the city) הַהִ֔יא (that) בָּזְז֥וּ (plundered) לָהֶ֖ם (for themselves) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (Israel), כִּדְבַ֣ר (according to the word) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) צִוָּ֖ה (He had commanded) אֶת־ (-) יְהוֹשֻֽׁעַ׃ (Joshua).

28 וַיִּשְׂרֹ֥ף (And burned) יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ (Joshua) אֶת־ (-) הָעָ֑י (Ai) וַיְשִׂימֶ֤הָ (and made it) תֵּל־ (a heap) עוֹלָם֙ (forever), שְׁמָמָ֔ה (a desolation) עַ֖ד (to) הַיּ֥וֹם (the day) הַזֶּֽה׃ (this). 29 וְאֶת־ (And) מֶ֧לֶךְ (the king) הָעַ֛י (of Ai) תָּלָ֥ה (he hanged) עַל־ (on) הָעֵ֖ץ (a tree) עַד־ (until) עֵ֣ת (the time) הָעָ֑רֶב (of the evening); וּכְב֣וֹא (and at the going in) הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ֩ (of the sun), צִוָּ֨ה (commanded) יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ (Joshua) וַיֹּרִ֧ידוּ (that they should take down) אֶת־ (-) נִבְלָת֣וֹ (his corpse) מִן־ (from) הָעֵ֗ץ (the tree) וַיַּשְׁלִ֤יכוּ (and cast) אוֹתָהּ֙ (it) אֶל־ (at) פֶּ֙תַח֙ (the entrance) שַׁ֣עַר (of the gate) הָעִ֔יר (of the city), וַיָּקִ֤ימוּ (and raise) עָלָיו֙ (over it) גַּל־ (a heap) אֲבָנִ֣ים (of stones) גָּד֔וֹל (great) עַ֖ד (to) הַיּ֥וֹם (the day) הַזֶּֽה׃פ (this).

30 אָ֣ז (Then) יִבְנֶ֤ה (built) יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ (Joshua) מִזְבֵּ֔חַ (an altar) לַֽיהוָ֖ה (to YHWH) אֱלֹהֵ֣י (God) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel) בְּהַ֖ר (on Mount) עֵיבָֽל׃ (Ebal), 31 כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר (as) צִוָּה֩ (had commanded) מֹשֶׁ֨ה (Moses) עֶֽבֶד־ (the servant) יְהוָ֜ה (of YHWH) אֶת־ (-) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל (of Israel), כַּכָּתוּב֙ (as it is written) בְּסֵ֙פֶר֙ (in the Book) תּוֹרַ֣ת (of the Law) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (of Moses): מִזְבַּח֙ (An altar) אֲבָנִ֣ים (of stones) שְׁלֵמ֔וֹת (whole), אֲשֶׁ֛ר (which) לֹֽא־ (not) הֵנִ֥יף (he has wielded) עֲלֵיהֶ֖ן (over) בַּרְזֶ֑ל (iron). וַיַּעֲל֨וּ (And they offered) עָלָ֤יו (on it) עֹלוֹת֙ (burnt offerings) לַֽיהוָ֔ה (to YHWH), וַֽיִּזְבְּח֖וּ (and they sacrificed) שְׁלָמִֽים׃ (peace offerings).

32 וַיִּכְתָּב־ (And he wrote) שָׁ֖ם (there) עַל־ (on) הָאֲבָנִ֑ים (the stones) אֵ֗ת (-) מִשְׁנֵה֙ (a copy) תּוֹרַ֣ת (of the law) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (of Moses), אֲשֶׁ֣ר (which) כָּתַ֔ב (he had written) לִפְנֵ֖י (before the faces) בְּנֵ֥י (of the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel). 33 וְכָל־ (And all) יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל (Israel), וּזְקֵנָ֡יו (and its elders) וְשֹׁטְרִ֣ים׀ (and its officers), וְשֹׁפְטָ֡יו (and its judges), עֹמְדִ֣ים (stood) מִזֶּ֣ה׀ (on this side) וּמִזֶּ֣ה׀ (and on this side) לָאָר֡וֹן (of the ark) נֶגֶד֩ (before) הַכֹּהֲנִ֨ים (the priests), הַלְוִיִּ֜ם (the Levites) נֹשְׂאֵ֣י׀ (who bore) אֲר֣וֹן (the ark) בְּרִית־ (of the covenant) יְהוָ֗ה (of YHWH), כַּגֵּר֙ (as the sojourner) כָּֽאֶזְרָ֔ח (as the native). חֶצְיוֹ֙ (Half of them were) אֶל־ (toward) מ֣וּל (the front) הַר־ (of Mount) גְּרִזִ֔ים (Gerizim), וְהַֽחֶצְי֖וֹ (and half of them) אֶל־ (toward) מ֣וּל (the front) הַר־ (of Mount) עֵיבָ֑ל (Ebal), כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר (as) צִוָּ֜ה (had commanded) מֹשֶׁ֣ה (Moses) עֶֽבֶד־ (the servant) יְהוָ֗ה (of YHWH), לְבָרֵ֛ךְ (that they should bless) אֶת־ (-) הָעָ֥ם (the people) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (of Israel) בָּרִאשֹׁנָֽה׃ (at the first).

34 וְאַֽחֲרֵי־ (And) כֵ֗ן (afterward) קָרָא֙ (he read) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) דִּבְרֵ֣י (the words) הַתּוֹרָ֔ה (of the law), הַבְּרָכָ֖ה (the blessings) וְהַקְּלָלָ֑ה (and the cursings), כְּכָל־ (according to all) הַכָּת֖וּב (written) בְּסֵ֥פֶר (in the Book) הַתּוֹרָֽה׃ (of the Law). 35 לֹֽא־ (Not) הָיָ֣ה (there was) דָבָ֔ר (a word) מִכֹּ֖ל (of all) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) צִוָּ֣ה (had commanded) מֹשֶׁ֑ה (Moses) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) לֹֽא־ (not) קָרָ֜א (did read) יְהוֹשֻׁ֗עַ (Joshua) נֶ֣גֶד (before) כָּל־ (all) קְהַ֤ל (the assembly) יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ (of Israel), וְהַנָּשִׁ֣ים (and the women), וְהַטַּ֔ף (and the little ones), וְהַגֵּ֖ר (and the sojourner) הַהֹלֵ֥ךְ (who was living) בְּקִרְבָּֽם׃פ (among them).
