Knowing what they were thinking, Jesus replied, "Why do you question this in your hearts? . . .
But Jesus knew their thoughts and said to the man with the withered hand, "Get up and stand among us." So he got up and stood there.
John 16:19, 30
Aware that they wanted to question Him, Jesus said to them, "Are you asking one another why I said, 'In a little while you will not see Me, and then after a little while you will see Me'? . . .
Then a certain ruler asked Him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
Luke 20:20, 21
So they watched Him closely and sent spies who pretended to be sincere. They were hoping to catch Him in His words in order to hand Him over to the rule and authority of the governor. . . .
So My people come to you as usual, sit before you, and hear your words; but they do not put them into practice. Although they express love with their mouths, their hearts pursue dishonest gain.
"A son honors his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is your fear of Me?" says the LORD of Hosts to you priests who despise My name. Yet you ask, "How have we despised Your name?"
Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'
Going directly to Jesus, he said, "Greetings, Rabbi, " and kissed Him.
He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs You are doing if God were not with him."
You call Me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, because I am.
