New International VersionNET Bible
When all these blessings and curses I have set before you come on you and you take them to heart wherever the LORD your God disperses you among the nations,1"When you have experienced all these things, both the blessings and the curses I have set before you, you will reflect upon them in all the nations where the LORD your God has banished you.
and when you and your children return to the LORD your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today,2Then if you and your descendants turn to the LORD your God and obey him with your whole mind and being just as I am commanding you today,
then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you.3the LORD your God will reverse your captivity and have pity on you. He will turn and gather you from all the peoples among whom he has scattered you.
Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the LORD your God will gather you and bring you back.4Even if your exiles are in the most distant land, from there the LORD your God will gather you and bring you back.
He will bring you to the land that belonged to your ancestors, and you will take possession of it. He will make you more prosperous and numerous than your ancestors.5Then he will bring you to the land your ancestors possessed and you also will possess it; he will do better for you and multiply you more than he did your ancestors.
The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.6The LORD your God will also cleanse your heart and the hearts of your descendants so that you may love him with all your mind and being and so that you may live.
The LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies who hate and persecute you.7Then the LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies, on those who hate you and persecute you.
You will again obey the LORD and follow all his commands I am giving you today.8You will return and obey the LORD, keeping all his commandments I am giving you today.
Then the LORD your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The LORD will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your ancestors,9The LORD your God will make the labor of your hands abundantly successful and multiply your children, the offspring of your cattle, and the produce of your soil. For the LORD your God will once more rejoice over you to make you prosperous just as he rejoiced over your ancestors,
if you obey the LORD your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.10if you obey the LORD your God and keep his commandments and statutes that are written in this scroll of the law. But you must turn to him with your whole mind and being.
Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.11"This commandment I am giving you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it too remote.
It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, "Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"12It is not in heaven, as though one must say, "Who will go up to heaven to get it for us and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"
Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, "Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"13And it is not across the sea, as though one must say, "Who will cross over to the other side of the sea and get it for us and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"
No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.14For the thing is very near you--it is in your mouth and in your mind so that you can do it.
See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.15"Look! I have set before you today life and prosperity on the one hand, and death and disaster on the other.
For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.16What I am commanding you today is to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to obey his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances. Then you will live and become numerous and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you are about to possess.
But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them,17However, if you turn aside and do not obey, but are lured away to worship and serve other gods,
I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.18I declare to you this very day that you will certainly perish! You will not extend your time in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live19Today I invoke heaven and earth as a witness against you that I have set life and death, blessing and curse, before you. Therefore choose life so that you and your descendants may live!
and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.20I also call on you to love the LORD your God, to obey him and be loyal to him, for he gives you life and enables you to live continually in the land the LORD promised to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."
