New King James VersionGreek Study Bible
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.1Οὐδὲν ἄρα νῦν κατάκριμα τοῖς ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ ⧼μὴ κατὰ σάρκα περιπατοῦσιν ἀλλὰ κατὰ πνεῦμα⧽
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.2 γὰρ νόμος τοῦ Πνεύματος τῆς ζωῆς ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ ἠλευθέρωσέν σε ἀπὸ τοῦ νόμου τῆς ἁμαρτίας καὶ τοῦ θανάτου
For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,3τὸ γὰρ ἀδύνατον τοῦ νόμου ἐν ἠσθένει διὰ τῆς σαρκός Θεὸς τὸν ἑαυτοῦ Υἱὸν πέμψας ἐν ὁμοιώματι σαρκὸς ἁμαρτίας καὶ περὶ ἁμαρτίας κατέκρινεν τὴν ἁμαρτίαν ἐν τῇ σαρκί
that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.4ἵνα τὸ δικαίωμα τοῦ νόμου πληρωθῇ ἐν ἡμῖν τοῖς μὴ κατὰ σάρκα περιπατοῦσιν ἀλλὰ κατὰ πνεῦμα
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.5Οἱ γὰρ κατὰ σάρκα ὄντες τὰ τῆς σαρκὸς φρονοῦσιν οἱ δὲ κατὰ πνεῦμα τὰ τοῦ πνεύματος
For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.6τὸ γὰρ φρόνημα τῆς σαρκὸς θάνατος τὸ δὲ φρόνημα τοῦ πνεύματος ζωὴ καὶ εἰρήνη
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.7διότι τὸ φρόνημα τῆς σαρκὸς ἔχθρα εἰς Θεόν τῷ γὰρ νόμῳ τοῦ Θεοῦ οὐχ ὑποτάσσεται οὐδὲ γὰρ δύναται
So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.8οἱ δὲ ἐν σαρκὶ ὄντες Θεῷ ἀρέσαι οὐ δύνανται
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.9Ὑμεῖς δὲ οὐκ ἐστὲ ἐν σαρκὶ ἀλλὰ ἐν πνεύματι εἴπερ Πνεῦμα Θεοῦ οἰκεῖ ἐν ὑμῖν εἰ δέ τις Πνεῦμα Χριστοῦ οὐκ ἔχει οὗτος οὐκ ἔστιν αὐτοῦ
And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.10εἰ δὲ Χριστὸς ἐν ὑμῖν τὸ μὲν σῶμα νεκρὸν διὰ ἁμαρτίαν τὸ δὲ πνεῦμα ζωὴ διὰ δικαιοσύνην
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.11εἰ δὲ τὸ Πνεῦμα τοῦ ἐγείραντος τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἐκ νεκρῶν οἰκεῖ ἐν ὑμῖν ἐγείρας «ἐκ νεκρῶν» Χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν ζωοποιήσει καὶ τὰ θνητὰ σώματα ὑμῶν διὰ τοῦ ἐνοικοῦντος αὐτοῦ Πνεύματος ἐν ὑμῖν
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.12Ἄρα οὖν ἀδελφοί ὀφειλέται ἐσμέν οὐ τῇ σαρκὶ τοῦ κατὰ σάρκα ζῆν
For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.13εἰ γὰρ κατὰ σάρκα ζῆτε μέλλετε ἀποθνήσκειν εἰ δὲ πνεύματι τὰς πράξεις τοῦ σώματος θανατοῦτε ζήσεσθε
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.14ὅσοι γὰρ Πνεύματι Θεοῦ ἄγονται οὗτοι υἱοί εἰσιν Θεοῦ
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”15Οὐ γὰρ ἐλάβετε πνεῦμα δουλείας πάλιν εἰς φόβον ἀλλὰ ἐλάβετε πνεῦμα υἱοθεσίας ἐν κράζομεν Ἀββᾶ Πατήρ
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,16αὐτὸ τὸ Πνεῦμα συμμαρτυρεῖ τῷ πνεύματι ἡμῶν ὅτι ἐσμὲν τέκνα Θεοῦ
and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.17εἰ δὲ τέκνα καὶ κληρονόμοι κληρονόμοι μὲν Θεοῦ συνκληρονόμοι δὲ Χριστοῦ εἴπερ συμπάσχομεν ἵνα καὶ συνδοξασθῶμεν
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.18Λογίζομαι γὰρ ὅτι οὐκ ἄξια τὰ παθήματα τοῦ νῦν καιροῦ πρὸς τὴν μέλλουσαν δόξαν ἀποκαλυφθῆναι εἰς ἡμᾶς
For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.19 γὰρ ἀποκαραδοκία τῆς κτίσεως τὴν ἀποκάλυψιν τῶν υἱῶν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἀπεκδέχεται
For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope;20τῇ γὰρ ματαιότητι κτίσις ὑπετάγη οὐχ ἑκοῦσα ἀλλὰ διὰ τὸν ὑποτάξαντα ἐφ’ ἑλπίδι
because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.21ὅτι* καὶ αὐτὴ κτίσις ἐλευθερωθήσεται ἀπὸ τῆς δουλείας τῆς φθορᾶς εἰς τὴν ἐλευθερίαν τῆς δόξης τῶν τέκνων τοῦ Θεοῦ
For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.22Οἴδαμεν γὰρ ὅτι πᾶσα κτίσις συστενάζει καὶ συνωδίνει ἄχρι τοῦ νῦν
Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.23οὐ μόνον δέ ἀλλὰ καὶ αὐτοὶ τὴν ἀπαρχὴν τοῦ Πνεύματος ἔχοντες ἡμεῖς καὶ αὐτοὶ ἐν ἑαυτοῖς στενάζομεν υἱοθεσίαν ἀπεκδεχόμενοι τὴν ἀπολύτρωσιν τοῦ σώματος ἡμῶν
For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?24τῇ γὰρ ἐλπίδι ἐσώθημεν ἐλπὶς δὲ βλεπομένη οὐκ ἔστιν ἐλπίς γὰρ βλέπει τις τί ἐλπίζει
But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.25εἰ δὲ οὐ βλέπομεν ἐλπίζομεν δι’ ὑπομονῆς ἀπεκδεχόμεθα
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.26Ὡσαύτως δὲ καὶ τὸ Πνεῦμα συναντιλαμβάνεται τῇ ἀσθενείᾳ ἡμῶν τὸ γὰρ τί προσευξώμεθα καθὸ δεῖ οὐκ οἴδαμεν ἀλλὰ αὐτὸ τὸ Πνεῦμα ὑπερεντυγχάνει στεναγμοῖς ἀλαλήτοις
Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.27 δὲ ἐραυνῶν τὰς καρδίας οἶδεν τί τὸ φρόνημα τοῦ Πνεύματος ὅτι κατὰ Θεὸν ἐντυγχάνει ὑπὲρ ἁγίων
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.28Οἴδαμεν δὲ ὅτι τοῖς ἀγαπῶσιν τὸν Θεὸν πάντα συνεργεῖ (ὁ θεὸς) εἰς ἀγαθόν τοῖς κατὰ πρόθεσιν κλητοῖς οὖσιν
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.29ὅτι οὓς προέγνω καὶ προώρισεν συμμόρφους τῆς εἰκόνος τοῦ Υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ εἶναι αὐτὸν πρωτότοκον ἐν πολλοῖς ἀδελφοῖς
Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.30οὓς δὲ προώρισεν τούτους καὶ ἐκάλεσεν καὶ οὓς ἐκάλεσεν τούτους καὶ ἐδικαίωσεν οὓς δὲ ἐδικαίωσεν τούτους καὶ ἐδόξασεν
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?31Τί οὖν ἐροῦμεν πρὸς ταῦτα εἰ Θεὸς ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν τίς καθ’ ἡμῶν
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?32ὅς γε τοῦ ἰδίου Υἱοῦ οὐκ ἐφείσατο ἀλλὰ ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν πάντων παρέδωκεν αὐτόν πῶς οὐχὶ καὶ σὺν αὐτῷ τὰ πάντα ἡμῖν χαρίσεται
Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.33τίς ἐγκαλέσει κατὰ ἐκλεκτῶν Θεοῦ Θεὸς δικαιῶν
Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.34τίς κατακρινῶν Χριστὸς Ἰησοῦς ἀποθανών μᾶλλον δὲ ἐγερθείς (ἐκ νεκρῶν) ὅς ‹καί› ἐστιν ἐν δεξιᾷ τοῦ Θεοῦ ὃς καὶ ἐντυγχάνει ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?35Τίς ἡμᾶς χωρίσει ἀπὸ τῆς ἀγάπης τοῦ Χριστοῦ θλῖψις στενοχωρία διωγμὸς λιμὸς γυμνότης κίνδυνος μάχαιρα
As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”36καθὼς γέγραπται ὅτι Ἕνεκεν σοῦ θανατούμεθα ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν ἐλογίσθημεν ὡς πρόβατα σφαγῆς
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.37Ἀλλ’ ἐν τούτοις πᾶσιν ὑπερνικῶμεν διὰ τοῦ ἀγαπήσαντος ἡμᾶς
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,38πέπεισμαι γὰρ ὅτι οὔτε θάνατος οὔτε ζωὴ οὔτε ἄγγελοι οὔτε ἀρχαὶ οὔτε ἐνεστῶτα οὔτε μέλλοντα οὔτε δυνάμεις
nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.39οὔτε ὕψωμα οὔτε βάθος οὔτε τις κτίσις ἑτέρα δυνήσεται ἡμᾶς χωρίσαι ἀπὸ τῆς ἀγάπης τοῦ Θεοῦ τῆς ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ τῷ Κυρίῳ ἡμῶν
