The People Bring More than Enough

1  וְעָשָׂה֩ (And to do) בְצַלְאֵ֨ל (Bezalel) וְאָהֳלִיאָ֜ב (and Oholiab) וְכֹ֣ל׀ (and every) אִ֣ישׁ (man) חֲכַם־ (wise) לֵ֗ב (of heart)— אֲשֶׁר֩ (whom) נָתַ֨ן (has put) יְהוָ֜ה (YHWH) חָכְמָ֤ה (wisdom) וּתְבוּנָה֙ (and understanding) בָּהֵ֔מָּה (in them) לָדַ֣עַת (to know how) לַעֲשֹׂ֔ת (to do) אֶֽת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) מְלֶ֖אכֶת (of the work) עֲבֹדַ֣ת (of the service) הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ (of the Holy Place)— לְכֹ֥ל (according to all) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) צִוָּ֖ה (has commanded) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).

2  וַיִּקְרָ֣א (And called) מֹשֶׁ֗ה (Moses) אֶל־ (to) בְּצַלְאֵ֘ל (Bezalel) וְאֶל־ (and to) אָֽהֳלִיאָב֒ (Oholiab) וְאֶל֙ (and to) כָּל־ (every) אִ֣ישׁ (man) חֲכַם־ (wise) לֵ֔ב (of heart), אֲשֶׁ֨ר (in whom) נָתַ֧ן (had put) יְהוָ֛ה (YHWH) חָכְמָ֖ה (wisdom) בְּלִבּ֑וֹ (in his heart), כֹּ֚ל (everyone) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (whose) נְשָׂא֣וֹ (lifted him) לִבּ֔וֹ (heart) לְקָרְבָ֥ה (to come near) אֶל־ (to) הַמְּלָאכָ֖ה (the work) לַעֲשֹׂ֥ת (to do) אֹתָֽהּ׃ (it). 3  וַיִּקְח֞וּ (And they took) מִלִּפְנֵ֣י (from before the face) מֹשֶׁ֗ה (of Moses) אֵ֤ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הַתְּרוּמָה֙ (the contribution), אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) הֵבִ֜יאוּ (had brought out) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל (of Israel) לִמְלֶ֛אכֶת (for the work) עֲבֹדַ֥ת (of the service) הַקֹּ֖דֶשׁ (of the Holy Place) לַעֲשֹׂ֣ת (to do) אֹתָ֑הּ (-).

וְ֠הֵם (And they) הֵבִ֨יאוּ (bringing) אֵלָ֥יו (to him) ע֛וֹד (continued) נְדָבָ֖ה (a freewill offering), בַּבֹּ֥קֶר (the morning) בַּבֹּֽקֶר׃ (by the morning). 4  וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ (And came) כָּל־ (all) הַ֣חֲכָמִ֔ים (the wise) הָעֹשִׂ֕ים (who were doing) אֵ֖ת (-) כָּל־ (all) מְלֶ֣אכֶת (the work) הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ (of the Holy Place), אִֽישׁ־ (man) אִ֥ישׁ (by man) מִמְּלַאכְתּ֖וֹ (from his work) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) הֵ֥מָּה (they) עֹשִֽׂים׃ (were doing), 5  וַיֹּאמְרוּ֙ (and they spoke) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֣ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹ֔ר (saying), מַרְבִּ֥ים (Much more) הָעָ֖ם (the people) לְהָבִ֑יא (are bringing) מִדֵּ֤י (than enough for) הָֽעֲבֹדָה֙ (the service) לַמְּלָאכָ֔ה (of the work), אֲשֶׁר־ (that) צִוָּ֥ה (commanded us) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) לַעֲשֹׂ֥ת (to do) אֹתָֽהּ׃ (it).

6  וַיְצַ֣ו (And commanded) מֹשֶׁ֗ה (Moses), וַיַּעֲבִ֨ירוּ (to pass) ק֥וֹל (and they caused a voice) בַּֽמַּחֲנֶה֮ (throughout the camp), לֵאמֹר֒ (saying), אִ֣ישׁ (Man) וְאִשָּׁ֗ה (or woman) אַל־ (not) יַעֲשׂוּ־ (let do) ע֛וֹד (anymore) מְלָאכָ֖ה (work) לִתְרוּמַ֣ת (for a contribution) הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ (of the Holy Place). וַיִּכָּלֵ֥א (And were restrained) הָעָ֖ם (the people) מֵהָבִֽיא׃ (from bringing). 7  וְהַמְּלָאכָ֗ה (And the work) הָיְתָ֥ה (they had) דַיָּ֛ם (was sufficient) לְכָל־ (for all) הַמְּלָאכָ֖ה (the work) לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת (to be done) אֹתָ֑הּ (-), וְהוֹתֵֽר׃ס (and there was excess).

The Ten Curtains for the Tabernacle
(Exodus 26:1–6)

8  וַיַּעֲשׂ֨וּ (And made) כָל־ (everyone) חֲכַם־ (wise) לֵ֜ב (of heart), בְּעֹשֵׂ֧י (among those doing) הַמְּלָאכָ֛ה (the work) אֶת־ (-) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן (the tabernacle), עֶ֣שֶׂר (ten) יְרִיעֹ֑ת (curtains) שֵׁ֣שׁ (of linen) מָשְׁזָ֗ר (finely woven), וּתְכֵ֤לֶת (and blue), וְאַרְגָּמָן֙ (and purple), וְתוֹלַ֣עַת (and yarn) שָׁנִ֔י (scarlet); כְּרֻבִ֛ים (cherubim) מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה (the work) חֹשֵׁ֖ב (of a designer) עָשָׂ֥ה (he made) אֹתָֽם׃ (them). 9  אֹ֜רֶךְ (The length) הַיְרִיעָ֣ה (of the curtain) הָֽאַחַ֗ת (one was) שְׁמֹנֶ֤ה (eight) וְעֶשְׂרִים֙ (and twenty) בָּֽאַמָּ֔ה (by the cubit), וְרֹ֙חַב֙ (and the width) אַרְבַּ֣ע (was four) בָּֽאַמָּ֔ה (by the cubit); הַיְרִיעָ֖ה (the curtain) הָאֶחָ֑ת (of the one) מִדָּ֥ה (measurement), אַחַ֖ת (one) לְכָל־ (is for all) הַיְרִיעֹֽת׃ (the curtains). 10  וַיְחַבֵּר֙ (And he joined) אֶת־ (-) חֲמֵ֣שׁ (five) הַיְרִיעֹ֔ת (curtains) אַחַ֖ת (one) אֶל־ (to) אֶחָ֑ת (one), וְחָמֵ֤שׁ (and five) יְרִיעֹת֙ (the other curtains) חִבַּ֔ר (he joined) אַחַ֖ת (one) אֶל־ (to) אֶחָֽת׃ (one).

11  וַיַּ֜עַשׂ (And He made) לֻֽלְאֹ֣ת (loops) תְּכֵ֗לֶת (of blue) עַ֣ל (on) שְׂפַ֤ת (the edge) הַיְרִיעָה֙ (of the curtain), הָֽאֶחָ֔ת (the one) מִקָּצָ֖ה (from the end) בַּמַּחְבָּ֑רֶת (at the joining); כֵּ֤ן (likewise) עָשָׂה֙ (he did) בִּשְׂפַ֣ת (on edge) הַיְרִיעָ֔ה (of the curtain) הַקִּ֣יצוֹנָ֔ה (the outermost) בַּמַּחְבֶּ֖רֶת (at the seam) הַשֵּׁנִֽית׃ (of the second). 12  חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים (Fifty) לֻלָאֹ֗ת (loops) עָשָׂה֮ (he made) בַּיְרִיעָ֣ה (in the curtain) הָאֶחָת֒ (the one), וַחֲמִשִּׁ֣ים (and fifty) לֻלָאֹ֗ת (loops) עָשָׂה֙ (he made) בִּקְצֵ֣ה (on the edge) הַיְרִיעָ֔ה (of the curtain) אֲשֶׁ֖ר (that is) בַּמַּחְבֶּ֣רֶת (at the seam) הַשֵּׁנִ֑ית (of the second); מַקְבִּילֹת֙ (that may be clasped) הַלֻּ֣לָאֹ֔ת (the loops) אַחַ֖ת (one) אֶל־ (to) אֶחָֽת׃ (one). 13  וַיַּ֕עַשׂ (And he made) חֲמִשִּׁ֖ים (fifty) קַרְסֵ֣י (clasps) זָהָ֑ב (of gold), וַיְחַבֵּ֨ר (and joined) אֶת־ (-) הַיְרִעֹ֜ת (the curtains) אַחַ֤ת (one) אֶל־ (to) אַחַת֙ (one) בַּקְּרָסִ֔ים (with the clasps), וַֽיְהִ֥י (and shall be) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן (the tabernacle) אֶחָֽד׃ס (one).

The Eleven Curtains of Goat Hair
(Exodus 26:7–14)

14  וַיַּ֙עַשׂ֙ (And He made) יְרִיעֹ֣ת (curtains) עִזִּ֔ים (of goats’ hair) לְאֹ֖הֶל (for a tent) עַל־ (over) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֑ן (the tabernacle); עַשְׁתֵּֽי־ (one) עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה (and ten) יְרִיעֹ֖ת (curtains) עָשָׂ֥ה (he made) אֹתָֽם׃ (them). 15  אֹ֜רֶךְ (The length) הַיְרִיעָ֣ה (of the curtain) הָאַחַ֗ת (one is) שְׁלֹשִׁים֙ (thirty) בָּֽאַמָּ֔ה (by the cubit), וְאַרְבַּ֣ע (and four) אַמּ֔וֹת (cubits) רֹ֖חַב (the width). הַיְרִיעָ֣ה (Curtain) הָאֶחָ֑ת (of the one) מִדָּ֣ה (measure) אַחַ֔ת (one), לְעַשְׁתֵּ֥י (for the one) עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה (and ten) יְרִיעֹֽת׃ (the curtains). 16  וַיְחַבֵּ֛ר (And he joined) אֶת־ (-) חֲמֵ֥שׁ (five) הַיְרִיעֹ֖ת (the curtain) לְבָ֑ד (by themselves), וְאֶת־ (and) שֵׁ֥שׁ (six) הַיְרִיעֹ֖ת (the curtains) לְבָֽד׃ (by themselves). 17  וַיַּ֜עַשׂ (And he made) לֻֽלָאֹ֣ת (loops) חֲמִשִּׁ֗ים (fifty) עַ֚ל (on) שְׂפַ֣ת (the edge) הַיְרִיעָ֔ה (of the curtain) הַקִּיצֹנָ֖ה (the outermost) בַּמַּחְבָּ֑רֶת (at the joining), וַחֲמִשִּׁ֣ים (and fifty) לֻלָאֹ֗ת (loops) עָשָׂה֙ (he made) עַל־ (on) שְׂפַ֣ת (the edge) הַיְרִיעָ֔ה (of the curtain) הַחֹבֶ֖רֶת (at the seam) הַשֵּׁנִֽית׃ (of the second). 18  וַיַּ֛עַשׂ (And He made) קַרְסֵ֥י (clasps) נְחֹ֖שֶׁת (of bronze) חֲמִשִּׁ֑ים (fifty) לְחַבֵּ֥ר (to join together) אֶת־ (-) הָאֹ֖הֶל (the tent), לִֽהְיֹ֥ת (and it shall be) אֶחָֽד׃ (one).

19  וַיַּ֤עַשׂ (And he made) מִכְסֶה֙ (a covering) לָאֹ֔הֶל (for the tent), עֹרֹ֥ת (skins) אֵלִ֖ים (of ram) מְאָדָּמִ֑ים (dyed red), וּמִכְסֵ֛ה (and a covering) עֹרֹ֥ת (skins) תְּחָשִׁ֖ים (of badger) מִלְמָֽעְלָה׃ס (from above).

The Frames and Bases
(Exodus 26:15–30)

20  וַיַּ֥עַשׂ (And he made) אֶת־ (-) הַקְּרָשִׁ֖ים (the boards) לַמִּשְׁכָּ֑ן (for the tabernacle) עֲצֵ֥י (wood) שִׁטִּ֖ים (of acacia), עֹמְדִֽים׃ (standing upright). 21  עֶ֥שֶׂר (Ten) אַמֹּ֖ות (cubits is) אֹ֣רֶךְ (the length) הַקָּ֑רֶשׁ (of the board), וְאַמָּה֙ (and a cubit) וַחֲצִ֣י (and a half) הָֽאַמָּ֔ה (cubit is) רֹ֖חַב (the width) הַקֶּ֥רֶשׁ (of the board) הָאֶחָֽד׃ (the one). 22  שְׁתֵּ֣י (Two) יָדֹ֗ת (tenons) לַקֶּ֙רֶשׁ֙ (in the board) הָֽאֶחָ֔ד (the one) מְשֻׁלָּבֹ֔ת (for binding) אַחַ֖ת (one) אֶל־ (to) אֶחָ֑ת (one); כֵּ֣ן (thus) עָשָׂ֔ה (he did) לְכֹ֖ל (for all) קַרְשֵׁ֥י (the boards) הַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃ (of the tabernacle).

23  וַיַּ֥עַשׂ (And he made) אֶת־ (-) הַקְּרָשִׁ֖ים (the boards) לַמִּשְׁכָּ֑ן (for the tabernacle), עֶשְׂרִ֣ים (twenty) קְרָשִׁ֔ים (boards) לִפְאַ֖ת (for the side) נֶ֥גֶב (south) תֵּימָֽנָה׃ (southward). 24  וְאַרְבָּעִים֙ (And forty) אַדְנֵי־ (bases) כֶ֔סֶף (of silver) עָשָׂ֕ה (he made) תַּ֖חַת (under) עֶשְׂרִ֣ים (the twenty) הַקְּרָשִׁ֑ים (boards)— שְׁנֵ֨י (two) אֲדָנִ֜ים (bases) תַּֽחַת־ (under) הַקֶּ֤רֶשׁ (the board) הָאֶחָד֙ (one) לִשְׁתֵּ֣י (for its two) יְדֹתָ֔יו (tenons), וּשְׁנֵ֧י (and two) אֲדָנִ֛ים (bases) תַּֽחַת־ (under) הַקֶּ֥רֶשׁ (the board) הָאֶחָ֖ד (one) לִשְׁתֵּ֥י (for its two) יְדֹתָֽיו׃ (tenons).

25  וּלְצֶ֧לַע (And for the side) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֛ן (of the tabernacle), הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית (the second) לִפְאַ֣ת (on the side) צָפ֑וֹן (north), עָשָׂ֖ה (he made) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) קְרָשִֽׁים׃ (boards), 26  וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים (and forty) אַדְנֵיהֶ֖ם (their bases) כָּ֑סֶף (of silver)— שְׁנֵ֣י (two) אֲדָנִ֗ים (bases) תַּ֚חַת (under) הַקֶּ֣רֶשׁ (the board) הָאֶחָ֔ד (the one), וּשְׁנֵ֣י (and two) אֲדָנִ֔ים (bases) תַּ֖חַת (under) הַקֶּ֥רֶשׁ (the board) הָאֶחָֽד׃ (the one).

27  וּֽלְיַרְכְּתֵ֥י (And for the side) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן (of the tabernacle) יָ֑מָּה (west) עָשָׂ֖ה (he made) שִׁשָּׁ֥ה (six) קְרָשִֽׁים׃ (boards). 28  וּשְׁנֵ֤י (And two) קְרָשִׁים֙ (boards) עָשָׂ֔ה (He made) לִמְקֻצְעֹ֖ת (for the corners) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֑ן (of the tabernacle) בַּיַּרְכָתָֽיִם׃ (for the rear sides). 29  וְהָי֣וּ (And they were) תוֹאֲמִם֮ (coupled) מִלְּמַטָּה֒ (from the bottom), וְיַחְדָּ֗ו (and together) יִהְי֤וּ (they were) תַמִּים֙ (complete) אֶל־ (at) רֹאשׁ֔וֹ (its top) אֶל־ (by) הַטַּבַּ֖עַת (the ring) הָאֶחָ֑ת (one). כֵּ֚ן (Thus) עָשָׂ֣ה (he made) לִשְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם (for the two of them) לִשְׁנֵ֖י (for the two) הַמִּקְצֹעֹֽת׃ (corners). 30  וְהָיוּ֙ (And there were) שְׁמֹנָ֣ה (eight) קְרָשִׁ֔ים (boards), וְאַדְנֵיהֶ֣ם (and their bases) כֶּ֔סֶף (silver)— שִׁשָּׁ֥ה (six) עָשָׂ֖ר (and ten) אֲדָנִ֑ים (bases) שְׁנֵ֤י (two) אֲדָנִים֙ (bases), שְׁנֵ֣י (two) אֲדָנִ֔ים (bases) תַּ֖חַת (under) הַקֶּ֥רֶשׁ (board) הָאֶחָֽד׃ (the one).

31  וַיַּ֥עַשׂ (And he made) בְּרִיחֵ֖י (bars) עֲצֵ֣י (of wood) שִׁטִּ֑ים (acacia), חֲמִשָּׁ֕ה (five) לְקַרְשֵׁ֥י (for the boards) צֶֽלַע־ (of the side) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן (of the tabernacle) הָאֶחָֽת׃ (the one), 32  וַחֲמִשָּׁ֣ה (and five) בְרִיחִ֔ם (bars) לְקַרְשֵׁ֥י (for the boards) צֶֽלַע־ (on the side) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן (of the tabernacle) הַשֵּׁנִ֑ית (the second), וַחֲמִשָּׁ֤ה (and five) בְרִיחִם֙ (bars) לְקַרְשֵׁ֣י (for the boards) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֔ן (of the tabernacle) לַיַּרְכָתַ֖יִם (for the rear sides) יָֽמָּה׃ (westward).

33  וַיַּ֖עַשׂ (And he made) אֶת־ (-) הַבְּרִ֣יחַ (the bar) הַתִּיכֹ֑ן (the middle) לִבְרֹ֙חַ֙ (to pass through) בְּת֣וֹךְ (in the middle) הַקְּרָשִׁ֔ים (of the boards), מִן־ (from) הַקָּצֶ֖ה (the end) אֶל־ (to) הַקָּצֶֽה׃ (the end). 34  וְֽאֶת־ (And) הַקְּרָשִׁ֞ים (the boards) צִפָּ֣ה (he overlaid) זָהָ֗ב (gold), וְאֶת־ (and) טַבְּעֹתָם֙ (their rings) עָשָׂ֣ה (he made) זָהָ֔ב (of gold) בָּתִּ֖ים (as holders) לַבְּרִיחִ֑ם (for the bars), וַיְצַ֥ף (and overlaid) אֶת־ (-) הַבְּרִיחִ֖ם (the bars) זָהָֽב׃ (with gold).

The Veil
(Exodus 26:31–35)

35  וַיַּ֙עַשׂ֙ (And he made) אֶת־ (-) הַפָּרֹ֔כֶת (a veil) תְּכֵ֧לֶת (of blue), וְאַרְגָּמָ֛ן (and purple), וְתוֹלַ֥עַת (and yarn) שָׁנִ֖י (scarlet), וְשֵׁ֣שׁ (and linen) מָשְׁזָ֑ר (finely woven); מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה (with design) חֹשֵׁ֛ב (of a designer) עָשָׂ֥ה (he made) אֹתָ֖הּ (on it) כְּרֻבִֽים׃ (cherubim).

36  וַיַּ֣עַשׂ (And He made) לָ֗הּ (for it) אַרְבָּעָה֙ (four) עַמּוּדֵ֣י (pillars) שִׁטִּ֔ים (of acacia wood), וַיְצַפֵּ֣ם (and overlaid them) זָהָ֔ב (with gold), וָוֵיהֶ֖ם (their hooks) זָהָ֑ב (of gold). וַיִּצֹ֣ק (And he cast) לָהֶ֔ם (for them) אַרְבָּעָ֖ה (four) אַדְנֵי־ (bases) כָֽסֶף׃ (of silver).

The Curtain for the Entrance
(Exodus 26:36–37)

37  וַיַּ֤עַשׂ (And He made) מָסָךְ֙ (a screen) לְפֶ֣תַח (for the door) הָאֹ֔הֶל (of the tent) תְּכֵ֧לֶת (blue), וְאַרְגָּמָ֛ן (and purple), וְתוֹלַ֥עַת (and yarn) שָׁנִ֖י (scarlet), וְשֵׁ֣שׁ (and linen) מָשְׁזָ֑ר (finely woven), מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה (the work) רֹקֵֽם׃ (of a weaver), 38  וְאֶת־ (and) עַמּוּדָ֤יו (its pillars) חֲמִשָּׁה֙ (five) וְאֶת־ (and) וָ֣וֵיהֶ֔ם (their hooks).

וְצִפָּ֧ה (And he overlaid) רָאשֵׁיהֶ֛ם (their tops) וַחֲשֻׁקֵיהֶ֖ם (and their bands) זָהָ֑ב (with gold), וְאַדְנֵיהֶ֥ם (and their bases) חֲמִשָּׁ֖ה (five were) נְחֹֽשֶׁת׃פ (bronze).
