(Nehemiah 7:4–69)

1  וְאֵ֣לֶּה׀ (And these are) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) הַמְּדִינָ֗ה (of the province) הָֽעֹלִים֙ (who came back) מִשְּׁבִ֣י (from the captivity) הַגּוֹלָ֔ה (of the exiles) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (whom) הֶגְלָ֛ה (had carried away) נְבוּכַדְנֶצּוֹר (Nebuchadnezzar) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (the king) בָּבֶ֖ל (of Babylon) לְבָבֶ֑ל (to Babylon), וַיָּשׁ֛וּבוּ (and who returned) לִירוּשָׁלִַ֥ם (to Jerusalem) וִֽיהוּדָ֖ה (and Judah), אִ֥ישׁ (each man) לְעִירֽוֹ׃ (to his city), 2  אֲשֶׁר־ (who) בָּ֣אוּ (came) עִם־ (with) זְרֻבָּבֶ֗ל (Zerubbabel), יֵשׁ֡וּעַ (Jeshua), נְ֠חֶמְיָה (Nehemiah), שְׂרָיָ֨ה (Seraiah), רְֽעֵלָיָ֜ה (Reelaiah), מָרְדֳּכַ֥י (Mordecai), בִּלְשָׁ֛ן (Bilshan), מִסְפָּ֥ר (Mispar), בִּגְוַ֖י (Bigvai), רְח֣וּם (Rehum), בַּעֲנָ֑ה (Baanah).

מִסְפַּ֕ר (The number) אַנְשֵׁ֖י (of men) עַ֥ם (of the people) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ס (of Israel):

3  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) פַרְעֹ֔שׁ (of Parosh), אַלְפַּ֕יִם (two thousand) מֵאָ֖ה (one hundred) שִׁבְעִ֥ים (seventy) וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ס (and two).

4  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) שְׁפַטְיָ֔ה (of Shephatiah), שְׁלֹ֥שׁ (three) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שִׁבְעִ֥ים (seventy) וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ס (and two).

5  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) אָרַ֔ח (of Arah), שְׁבַ֥ע (seven) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) חֲמִשָּׁ֥ה (five) וְשִׁבְעִֽים׃ס (and seventy).

6  בְּנֵֽי־ (The sons) פַחַ֥ת (of Pahath-) מוֹאָ֛ב (moab) לִבְנֵ֥י (of the sons) יֵשׁ֖וּעַ (of Jeshua) יוֹאָ֑ב (and Joab)), אַלְפַּ֕יִם (two thousand) שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה (eight) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) וּשְׁנֵ֥ים (and two) עָשָֽׂר׃ס (and ten).

7  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) עֵילָ֔ם (of Elam), אֶ֕לֶף (a thousand) מָאתַ֖יִם (two hundred) חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים (fifty) וְאַרְבָּעָֽה׃ס (and four).

8  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) זַתּ֔וּא (of Zattu), תְּשַׁ֥ע (nine) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים (and forty) וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃ס (and five).

9  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) זַכָּ֔י (of Zaccai), שְׁבַ֥ע (seven) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) וְשִׁשִּֽׁים׃ס (and sixty).

10  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) בָנִ֔י (of Bani), שֵׁ֥שׁ (six) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) אַרְבָּעִ֥ים (forty) וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ס (and two).

11  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) בֵבָ֔י (of Bebai), שֵׁ֥שׁ (six) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ס (and three).

12  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) עַזְגָּ֔ד (of Azgad), אֶ֕לֶף (a thousand) מָאתַ֖יִם (two hundred) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ס (and two).

13  בְּנֵי֙ (The sons) אֲדֹ֣נִיקָ֔ם (of Adonikam), שֵׁ֥שׁ (six) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שִׁשִּׁ֥ים (sixty) וְשִׁשָּֽׁה׃ס (and six).

14  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) בִגְוָ֔י (of Bigvai), אַלְפַּ֖יִם (two thousand) חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים (fifty) וְשִׁשָּֽׁה׃ס (and six).

15  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) עָדִ֔ין (of Adin), אַרְבַּ֥ע (four) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים (fifty) וְאַרְבָּעָֽה׃ס (and four).

16  בְּנֵֽי־ (The sons) אָטֵ֥ר (of Ater) לִֽיחִזְקִיָּ֖ה (of Hezekiah)), תִּשְׁעִ֥ים (ninety) וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃ס (and eight).

17  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) בֵצָ֔י (of Bezai), שְׁלֹ֥שׁ (three) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ס (and three).

18  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) יוֹרָ֔ה (of Jorah), מֵאָ֖ה (a hundred) וּשְׁנֵ֥ים (and two) עָשָֽׂר׃ס (and ten).

19  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) חָשֻׁ֔ם (of Hashum), מָאתַ֖יִם (two hundred) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ס (and three).

20  בְּנֵ֥י (The sons) גִבָּ֖ר (of Gibbar), תִּשְׁעִ֥ים (ninety) וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃ס (and five).

21  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) בֵֽית־ (of Beth-) לָ֔חֶם (lehem), מֵאָ֖ה (a hundred) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ס (and three).

22  אַנְשֵׁ֥י (The men) נְטֹפָ֖ה (of Netophah), חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים (fifty) וְשִׁשָּֽׁה׃ (and six).

23  אַנְשֵׁ֣י (The men) עֲנָת֔וֹת (of Anathoth), מֵאָ֖ה (a hundred) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃ס (and eight).

24  בְּנֵ֥י (The sons) עַזְמָ֖וֶת (of Azmaveth), אַרְבָּעִ֥ים (forty) וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ס (and two).

25  בְּנֵ֨י (The sons) קִרְיַ֤ת (of Kiriath-) עָרִים֙ (arim), כְּפִירָ֣ה (Chephirah), וּבְאֵר֔וֹת (and Beeroth), שְׁבַ֥ע (seven) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים (and forty) וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ס (and three).

26  בְּנֵ֤י (The sons) הָרָמָה֙ (of Ramah) וָגָ֔בַע (and Geba), שֵׁ֥שׁ (six) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) וְאֶחָֽד׃ס (and one).

27  אַנְשֵׁ֣י (The men) מִכְמָ֔ס (of Michmas), מֵאָ֖ה (a hundred) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ס (and two).

28  אַנְשֵׁ֤י (The men) בֵֽית־ (of Beth-) אֵל֙ (el) וְהָעָ֔י (and Ai), מָאתַ֖יִם (two hundred) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ס (and three).

29  בְּנֵ֥י (The sons) נְב֖וֹ (of Nebo), חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים (fifty) וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ס (and two).

30  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) מַגְבִּ֔ישׁ (of Magbish), מֵאָ֖ה (a hundred) חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים (fifty) וְשִׁשָּֽׁה׃ס (and six).

31  בְּנֵי֙ (The sons) עֵילָ֣ם (of Elam) אַחֵ֔ר (the other), אֶ֕לֶף (a thousand) מָאתַ֖יִם (two hundred) חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים (fifty) וְאַרְבָּעָֽה׃ס (and four).

32  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) חָרִ֔ם (of Harim), שְׁלֹ֥שׁ (three) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) וְעֶשְׂרִֽים׃ס (and twenty).

33  בְּנֵי־ (The sons) לֹד֙ (of Lod), חָדִ֣יד (Hadid), וְאוֹנ֔וֹ (and Ono), שְׁבַ֥ע (seven) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃ס (and five).

34  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) יְרֵח֔וֹ (of Jericho), שְׁלֹ֥שׁ (three) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) אַרְבָּעִ֥ים (forty) וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃ס (and five).

35  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) סְנָאָ֔ה (of Senaah), שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת (three) אֲלָפִ֔ים (thousand) וְשֵׁ֥שׁ (and six) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) וּשְׁלֹשִֽׁים׃ס (and thirty).

36  הַֽכֹּהֲנִ֑ים (The priests):

בְּנֵ֤י (The sons) יְדַֽעְיָה֙ (of Jedaiah) לְבֵ֣ית (of the house) יֵשׁ֔וּעַ (of Jeshua)) תְּשַׁ֥ע (nine) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שִׁבְעִ֥ים (seventy) וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ס (and three).

37  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) אִמֵּ֔ר (of Immer), אֶ֖לֶף (a thousand) חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים (fifty) וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ס (and two).

38  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) פַשְׁח֔וּר (of Pashhur), אֶ֕לֶף (a thousand) מָאתַ֖יִם (two hundred) אַרְבָּעִ֥ים (forty) וְשִׁבְעָֽה׃ס (and seven).

39  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) חָרִ֔ם (of Harim), אֶ֖לֶף (a thousand) וְשִׁבְעָ֥ה (and seven) עָשָֽׂר׃ס (and ten).

40  הַלְוִיִּ֑ם (The Levites):

בְּנֵי־ (The sons) יֵשׁ֧וּעַ (of Jeshua) וְקַדְמִיאֵ֛ל (and Kadmiel) לִבְנֵ֥י (of the sons) הוֹדַוְיָ֖ה (of Hodaviah) שִׁבְעִ֥ים (seventy) וְאַרְבָּעָֽה׃ס (and four).

41  הַֽמְשֹׁרְרִ֑ים (The singers):

בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) אָסָ֔ף (of Asaph), מֵאָ֖ה (a hundred) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃פ (and eight).

42  בְּנֵ֣י (The sons) הַשֹּֽׁעֲרִ֗ים (of the gatekeepers):

בְּנֵי־ (The sons) שַׁלּ֤וּם (of Shallum),

בְּנֵֽי־ (the sons) אָטֵר֙ (of Ater),

בְּנֵי־ (the sons) טַלְמ֣וֹן (of Talmon),

בְּנֵי־ (the sons) עַקּ֔וּב (of Akkub),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) חֲטִיטָ֖א (of Hatita),

בְּנֵ֣י (and the sons) שֹׁבָ֑י (of Shobai),

הַכֹּ֕ל (in all) מֵאָ֖ה (a hundred) שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים (thirty) וְתִשְׁעָֽה׃פ (and nine).

43  הַנְּתִינִ֑ים (The Nethinim):

בְּנֵי־ (The sons) צִיחָ֥א (of Ziha),

בְנֵי־ (the sons) חֲשׂוּפָ֖א (of Hasupha),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) טַבָּעֽוֹת׃ (of Tabbaoth),

44  בְּנֵי־ (the sons) קֵרֹ֥ס (of Keros),

בְּֽנֵי־ (the sons) סִֽיעֲהָ֖א (of Siaha),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) פָדֽוֹן׃ (of Padon),

45  בְּנֵי־ (the sons) לְבָנָ֥ה (of Lebanah),

בְנֵי־ (the sons) חֲגָבָ֖ה (of Hagabah),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) עַקּֽוּב׃ (of Akkub),

46  בְּנֵי־ (the sons) חָגָ֥ב (of Hagab),

בְּנֵי־ (the sons) שַׁמְלַי (Shalmai),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) חָנָֽן׃ (of Hanan),

47  בְּנֵי־ (the sons) גִדֵּ֥ל (of Giddel),

בְּנֵי־ (the sons) גַ֖חַר (of Gahar),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) רְאָיָֽה׃ (of Reaiah),

48  בְּנֵי־ (the sons) רְצִ֥ין (of Rezin),

בְּנֵי־ (the sons) נְקוֹדָ֖א (of Nekoda),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) גַזָּֽם׃ (of Gazzam),

49  בְּנֵי־ (the sons) עֻזָּ֥א (of Uzza),

בְנֵי־ (the sons) פָסֵ֖חַ (of Paseah),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) בֵסָֽי׃ (of Besai),

50  בְּנֵי־ (the sons) אַסְנָ֥ה (of Asnah),

בְנֵי־ (the sons) מְעִינִים (of Meunim),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) נְפִיסִים׃ (Nephusim),

51  בְּנֵי־ (the sons) בַקְבּ֥וּק (of Bakbuk),

בְּנֵי־ (the sons) חֲקוּפָ֖א (of Hakupha),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) חַרְחֽוּר׃ (of Harhur),

52  בְּנֵי־ (the sons) בַצְל֥וּת (of Bazluth),

בְּנֵי־ (the sons) מְחִידָ֖א (of Mehida),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) חַרְשָֽׁא׃ (of Harsha),

53  בְּנֵי־ (the sons) בַרְק֥וֹס (of Barkos),

בְּֽנֵי־ (the sons) סִֽיסְרָ֖א (of Sisera),

בְּנֵי־ (the sons) תָֽמַח׃ (of Temah),

54  בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) נְצִ֖יחַ (of Neziah),

בְּנֵ֥י (and the sons) חֲטִיפָֽא׃ (of Hatipha).

55  בְּנֵ֖י (The sons) עַבְדֵ֣י (of servants) שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה (of Solomon):

בְּנֵי־ (The sons) סֹטַ֥י (of Sotai),

בְּנֵי־ (the sons) הַסֹּפֶ֖רֶת (of Sophereth),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) פְרוּדָֽא׃ (of Peruda),

56  בְּנֵי־ (the sons) יַעְלָ֥ה (of Jaala),

בְנֵי־ (the sons) דַרְק֖וֹן (of Darkon),

בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) גִדֵּֽל׃ (of Giddel),

57  בְּנֵ֧י (the sons) שְׁפַטְיָ֣ה (of Shephatiah),

בְנֵֽי־ (the sons) חַטִּ֗יל (of Hattil),

בְּנֵ֛י (the sons) פֹּכֶ֥רֶת (of Pochereth-) הַצְּבָיִ֖ים (hazzebaim),

בְּנֵ֥י (and the sons) אָמִֽי׃ (of Ami).

58  כָּ֨ל־ (All) הַנְּתִינִ֔ים (the Nethinim) וּבְנֵ֖י (and the sons) עַבְדֵ֣י (of servants) שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה (of Solomon) שְׁלֹ֥שׁ (were three) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) תִּשְׁעִ֥ים (ninety) וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ס (and two).

59  וְאֵ֗לֶּה (And these were) הָֽעֹלִים֙ (the ones who came up) מִתֵּ֥ל (from Tel-) מֶ֙לַח֙ (melah) תֵּ֣ל (Tel-) חַרְשָׁ֔א (harsha), כְּר֥וּב (Cherub), אַדָּ֖ן (Addan), אִמֵּ֑ר (and Immer), וְלֹ֣א (not) יָֽכְל֗וּ (they were able) לְהַגִּ֤יד (to declare) בֵּית־ (the house) אֲבוֹתָם֙ (of their fathers) וְזַרְעָ֔ם (and their seed), אִ֥ם (whether) מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (of Israel) הֵֽם׃ (they were).

60  בְּנֵי־ (The sons) דְלָיָ֥ה (of Delaiah),

בְנֵי־ (the sons) טוֹבִיָּ֖ה (of Tobiah),

בְּנֵ֣י (and the sons) נְקוֹדָ֑א (of Nekoda),

שֵׁ֥שׁ (six) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים (fifty) וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃ס (and two).

61  וּמִבְּנֵי֙ (And of the sons) הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים (of the priests): בְּנֵ֥י (The sons) חֳבַיָּ֖ה (of Hobaiah),

בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) הַקּ֑וֹץ (of Koz),

בְּנֵ֣י (and the sons) בַרְזִלַּ֗י (of Barzillai) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (who) לָ֠קַח (took) מִבְּנ֞וֹת (from the daughters) בַּרְזִלַּ֤י (of Barzillai) הַגִּלְעָדִי֙ (the Gileadite) אִשָּׁ֔ה (a wife), וַיִּקָּרֵ֖א (and he was called) עַל־ (by) שְׁמָֽם׃ (their name))

62  אֵ֗לֶּה (these) בִּקְשׁ֧וּ (sought) כְתָבָ֛ם (their record) הַמִּתְיַחְשִׂ֖ים (among those reckoning themselves by genealogy), וְלֹ֣א (not) נִמְצָ֑אוּ (they were found), וַֽיְגֹאֲל֖וּ (and they were defiled) מִן־ (from) הַכְּהֻנָּֽה׃ (the priesthood). 63  וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (And said) הַתִּרְשָׁ֙תָא֙ (the Tirshatha) לָהֶ֔ם (to them) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) לֹא־ (not) יֹאכְל֖וּ (they should eat) מִקֹּ֣דֶשׁ (from the holy) הַקֳּדָשִׁ֑ים (of holies) עַ֛ד (until) עֲמֹ֥ד (stood) כֹּהֵ֖ן (a priest) לְאוּרִ֥ים (for Urim) וּלְתֻמִּֽים׃ (and for Thummim).

64  כָּל־ (All) הַקָּהָ֖ל (the assembly was) כְּאֶחָ֑ד (as one), אַרְבַּ֣ע (four) רִבּ֔וֹא (myriad) אַלְפַּ֖יִם (two thousand) שְׁלֹשׁ־ (three) מֵא֥וֹת (hundred) שִׁשִּֽׁים׃ (and sixty), 65  מִ֠לְּבַד (besides) עַבְדֵיהֶ֤ם (their menservants) וְאַמְהֹֽתֵיהֶם֙ (and their maidservants), אֵ֔לֶּה (these) שִׁבְעַ֣ת (seven) אֲלָפִ֔ים (thousand) שְׁלֹ֥שׁ (three) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים (thirty) וְשִׁבְעָ֑ה (and seven). וְלָהֶ֛ם (And to them) מְשֹׁרְרִ֥ים (were singers) וּֽמְשֹׁרְר֖וֹת (and songstresses) מָאתָֽיִם׃ (two hundred). 66  סוּסֵיהֶ֕ם (Their horses were) שְׁבַ֥ע (seven) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים (thirty) וְשִׁשָּׁ֑ה (and six), פִּרְדֵיהֶ֕ם (their mules) מָאתַ֖יִם (two hundred) אַרְבָּעִ֥ים (forty) וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃ (and five), 67  גְּמַ֨לֵּיהֶ֔ם (their camels) אַרְבַּ֥ע (four) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים (thirty) וַחֲמִשָּׁ֑ה (and five), חֲמֹרִ֕ים (and the donkeys) שֵׁ֣שֶׁת (six) אֲלָפִ֔ים (thousand) שְׁבַ֥ע (seven) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) וְעֶשְׂרִֽים׃פ (and twenty).

Offerings by the Exiles
(Exodus 38:21–31; Nehemiah 7:70–73)

68  וּמֵרָאשֵׁי֙ (And some of the heads) הָֽאָב֔וֹת (of the fathers), בְּבוֹאָ֕ם (in their coming in) לְבֵ֥ית (to the house) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (which is) בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם (in Jerusalem), הִֽתְנַדְּבוּ֙ (offered freely) לְבֵ֣ית (for the house) הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים (of God) לְהַעֲמִיד֖וֹ (to establish it) עַל־ (in) מְכוֹנֽוֹ׃ (its place). 69  כְּכֹחָ֗ם (According to their ability), נָתְנוּ֮ (they gave) לְאוֹצַ֣ר (to the treasure) הַמְּלָאכָה֒ (of the work) זָהָ֗ב (of gold), דַּרְכְּמוֹנִים֙ (darics) שֵׁשׁ־ (six) רִבֹּ֣אות (myriads) וָאֶ֔לֶףס (and a thousand), וְכֶ֕סֶף (and of silver) מָנִ֖ים (minas) חֲמֵ֣שֶׁת (five) אֲלָפִ֑ים (thousand), וְכָתְנֹ֥ת (and garments) כֹּהֲנִ֖ים (Priestly) מֵאָֽה׃ס (a hundred).

70  וַיֵּשְׁב֣וּ (And dwelt) הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים (the priests), וְ֠הַלְוִיִּם (and the Levites), וּֽמִן־ (and some) הָעָ֞ם (of the people), וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִ֧ים (and the singers), וְהַשּׁוֹעֲרִ֛ים (and the gatekeepers), וְהַנְּתִינִ֖ים (and the Nethinim) בְּעָרֵיהֶ֑ם (in their cities), וְכָל־ (and all) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (Israel) בְּעָרֵיהֶֽם׃ס (in their cities).
