Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!1Give thanks to Yahweh, call on His name; proclaim His deeds among the peoples.
Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!2Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell about all His wonderful works!
Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!3Honor His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek Yahweh rejoice.
Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!4Search for the LORD and for His strength; seek His face always.
Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,5Remember the wonderful works He has done, His wonders, and the judgments He has pronounced,
O offspring of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones!6you offspring of Abraham His servant, Jacob's descendants--His chosen ones.
He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.7He is the LORD our God; His judgments govern the whole earth.
He remembers his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,8He remembers His covenant forever, the promise He ordained for a thousand generations--
the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac,9the covenant He made with Abraham, swore to Isaac,
which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,10and confirmed to Jacob as a decree and to Israel as an everlasting covenant:"
saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance.”11I will give the land of Canaan to you as your inherited portion."
When they were few in number, of little account, and sojourners in it,12When they were few in number, very few indeed, and temporary residents in Canaan,
wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,13wandering from nation to nation and from one kingdom to another,
he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account,14He allowed no one to oppress them; He rebuked kings on their behalf:"
saying, “Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!”15Do not touch My anointed ones, or harm My prophets."
When he summoned a famine on the land and broke all supply of bread,16He called down famine against the land and destroyed the entire food supply.
he had sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave.17He had sent a man ahead of them-- Joseph, who was sold as a slave.
His feet were hurt with fetters; his neck was put in a collar of iron;18They hurt his feet with shackles; his neck was put in an iron collar.
until what he had said came to pass, the word of the LORD tested him.19Until the time his prediction came true, the word of the LORD tested him.
The king sent and released him; the ruler of the peoples set him free;20The king sent for him and released him; the ruler of peoples set him free.
he made him lord of his house and ruler of all his possessions,21He made him master of his household, ruler over all his possessions--
to bind his princes at his pleasure and to teach his elders wisdom.22binding his officials at will and instructing his elders.
Then Israel came to Egypt; Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.23Then Israel went to Egypt; Jacob lived as a foreigner in the land of Ham.
And the LORD made his people very fruitful and made them stronger than their foes.24The LORD made His people very fruitful; He made them more numerous than their foes,
He turned their hearts to hate his people, to deal craftily with his servants.25whose hearts He turned to hate His people and to deal deceptively with His servants.
He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen.26He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron, whom He had chosen.
They performed his signs among them and miracles in the land of Ham.27They performed His miraculous signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.
He sent darkness, and made the land dark; they did not rebel against his words.28He sent darkness, and it became dark-- for did they not defy His commands?
He turned their waters into blood and caused their fish to die.29He turned their water into blood and caused their fish to die.
Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the chambers of their kings.30Their land was overrun with frogs, even in their royal chambers.
He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country.31He spoke, and insects came-- gnats throughout their country.
He gave them hail for rain, and fiery lightning bolts through their land.32He gave them hail for rain, and lightning throughout their land.
He struck down their vines and fig trees, and shattered the trees of their country.33He struck their vines and fig trees and shattered the trees of their territory.
He spoke, and the locusts came, young locusts without number,34He spoke, and locusts came-- young locusts without number.
which devoured all the vegetation in their land and ate up the fruit of their ground.35They devoured all the vegetation in their land and consumed the produce of their land.
He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their strength.36He struck all the firstborn in their land, all their first progeny.
Then he brought out Israel with silver and gold, and there was none among his tribes who stumbled.37Then He brought Israel out with silver and gold, and no one among His tribes stumbled.
Egypt was glad when they departed, for dread of them had fallen upon it.38Egypt was glad when they left, for the dread of Israel had fallen on them.
He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light by night.39He spread a cloud as a covering and gave a fire to light up the night.
They asked, and he brought quail, and gave them bread from heaven in abundance.40They asked, and He brought quail and satisfied them with bread from heaven.
He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it flowed through the desert like a river.41He opened a rock, and water gushed out; it flowed like a stream in the desert.
For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham, his servant.42For He remembered His holy promise to Abraham His servant.
So he brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with singing.43He brought His people out with rejoicing, His chosen ones with shouts of joy.
And he gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples’ toil,44He gave them the lands of the nations, and they inherited what other peoples had worked for.
that they might keep his statutes and observe his laws. Praise the LORD!45All this happened so that they might keep His statutes and obey His instructions. Hallelujah!
