Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples.1Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; proclaim his deeds among the peoples.
Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders.2Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell about all his wondrous works!
Glory in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.3Honor his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually.4Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
Remember His wonders which He has done, His marvels and the judgments uttered by His mouth,5Remember the wondrous works he has done, his wonders, and the judgments he has pronounced,
O seed of Abraham, His servant, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones!6you offspring of Abraham his servant, Jacob's descendants--his chosen ones.
He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth.7He is the LORD our God; his judgments govern the whole earth.
He has remembered His covenant forever, The word which He commanded to a thousand generations,8He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he ordained for a thousand generations--
The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac.9the covenant he made with Abraham, swore to Isaac,
Then He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant,10and confirmed to Jacob as a decree and to Israel as a permanent covenant:
Saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan As the portion of your inheritance,"11"I will give the land of Canaan to you as your inherited portion."
When they were only a few men in number, Very few, and strangers in it.12When they were few in number, very few indeed, and resident aliens in Canaan,
And they wandered about from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people.13wandering from nation to nation and from one kingdom to another,
He permitted no man to oppress them, And He reproved kings for their sakes:14he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their behalf:
"Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm."15"Do not touch my anointed ones, or harm my prophets."
And He called for a famine upon the land; He broke the whole staff of bread.16He called down famine against the land and destroyed the entire food supply.
He sent a man before them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave.17He had sent a man ahead of them--Joseph, who was sold as a slave.
They afflicted his feet with fetters, He himself was laid in irons;18They hurt his feet with shackles; his neck was put in an iron collar.
Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the LORD tested him.19Until the time his prediction came true, the word of the LORD tested him.
The king sent and released him, The ruler of peoples, and set him free.20The king sent for him and released him; the ruler of peoples set him free.
He made him lord of his house And ruler over all his possessions,21He made him master of his household, ruler over all his possessions--
To imprison his princes at will, That he might teach his elders wisdom.22binding his officials at will and instructing his elders.
Israel also came into Egypt; Thus Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.23Then Israel went to Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham.
And He caused His people to be very fruitful, And made them stronger than their adversaries.24The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them more numerous than their foes,
He turned their heart to hate His people, To deal craftily with His servants.25whose hearts he turned to hate his people and to deal deceptively with his servants.
He sent Moses His servant, And Aaron, whom He had chosen.26He sent Moses his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen.
They performed His wondrous acts among them, And miracles in the land of Ham.27They performed his miraculous signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.
He sent darkness and made it dark; And they did not rebel against His words.28He sent darkness, and it became dark--for did they not defy his commands?
He turned their waters into blood And caused their fish to die.29He turned their water into blood and caused their fish to die.
Their land swarmed with frogs Even in the chambers of their kings.30Their land was overrun with frogs, even in their royal chambers.
He spoke, and there came a swarm of flies And gnats in all their territory.31He spoke, and insects came--gnats throughout their country.
He gave them hail for rain, And flaming fire in their land.32He gave them hail for rain, and lightning throughout their land.
He struck down their vines also and their fig trees, And shattered the trees of their territory.33He struck their vines and fig trees and shattered the trees of their territory.
He spoke, and locusts came, And young locusts, even without number,34He spoke, and locusts came--young locusts without number.
And ate up all vegetation in their land, And ate up the fruit of their ground.35They devoured all the vegetation in their land and consumed the produce of their land.
He also struck down all the firstborn in their land, The first fruits of all their vigor.36He struck all the firstborn in their land, all their first progeny.
Then He brought them out with silver and gold, And among His tribes there was not one who stumbled.37Then he brought Israel out with silver and gold, and no one among his tribes stumbled.
Egypt was glad when they departed, For the dread of them had fallen upon them.38Egypt was glad when they left, for the dread of Israel had fallen on them.
He spread a cloud for a covering, And fire to illumine by night.39He spread a cloud as a covering and gave a fire to light up the night.
They asked, and He brought quail, And satisfied them with the bread of heaven.40They asked, and he brought quail and satisfied them with bread from heaven.
He opened the rock and water flowed out; It ran in the dry places like a river.41He opened a rock, and water gushed out; it flowed like a stream in the desert.
For He remembered His holy word With Abraham His servant;42For he remembered his holy promise to Abraham his servant.
And He brought forth His people with joy, His chosen ones with a joyful shout.43He brought his people out with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy.
He gave them also the lands of the nations, That they might take possession of the fruit of the peoples' labor,44He gave them the lands of the nations, and they inherited what other peoples had worked for.
So that they might keep His statutes And observe His laws, Praise the LORD!45All this happened so that they might keep his statutes and obey his instructions. Hallelujah!
