The Plot to Kill Jesus
(Matthew 26:1–5; Luke 22:1–2; John 11:45–57)

1Now after two days was the passover, and the feast of unleavened bread; and the high priests and the scribes were seeking how, taking Him by guile, they might kill Him; 2for they said, "Not during the feast, lest there should be an uproar of the people."

Jesus Anointed at Bethany
(Matthew 26:6–13; Luke 7:36–50; John 12:1–8)

3And, while He was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as He was reclining at table, there came a woman having an alabaster cruse of ointment of pure spikenard, very costly; and, having broken the cruse, she was pouring it down on His bead. 4But there were some who were much displeased among themselves, saying, "To what purpose has this waste of the ointment been made? 5For this ointment could have been sold for above three hundred denaries, and given to the poor!" And they were murmuring against her. 6But Jesus said, "Let her alone; why do ye cause her trouble? She wrought a good work on Me; 7for the poor ye always have with you; and whensoever ye will, ye can do them good; but Me ye have not always. 8She did what she could: she anointed My body beforehand for the burial. 9And verily I say to you, wheresoever the Gospel shall be preached in the whole world, that also which this woman did shall be spoken of for a memorial of her."

Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus
(Matthew 26:14–16; Luke 22:3–6)

10And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went away to the high priests, that he might deliver Him up to them. 11And they, hearing it, rejoiced, and promised to give him money. And he was seeking how he might conveniently deliver Him up.

Preparing the Passover
(Matthew 26:17–19; Luke 22:7–13)

12And, on the first day of the unleavened bread, when they were slaying the passover, His disciples say to Him, "Where dost Thou wish that we, going, prepare, that Thou mayest eat the passover?" 13And He sendeth two of His disciples, and saith to them, "Go your way into the city; and there will meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water; follow him. 14And, wheresoever he enters, say ye to the master of the house, 'The Teacher saith, Where is My guest-chamber, where I may eat the passover with My disciples?' 15And he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; and there make ready for us." 16And the disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as He said to them; and they made ready the passover.

The Last Supper
(Matthew 26:20–30; Luke 22:14–23; 1 Corinthians 11:17–34)

17And, evening coming on, He cometh with the twelve. 18And as they were reclining at table and eating, Jesus said, "Verily I say to you, one of you will betray Me?one who is eating with Me." 19They began to be sorrowful, and to say to Him, one by one, "Is it I?" 20And He said to them, "It is one of the twelve?he that is dipping with Me in the dish. 21Because the Son of Man is going as it has been written concerning Him; but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It were good for him, if that man had not been born."

22And, as they were eating, having taken bread and blessed it, He broke, and gave to them, and said, "Take ye; this is My body." 23And taking a cup, and blessing it, He gave it to them; and they all drank of it. 24And He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out in behalf of many. 25Verily I say to you, I will no more drink of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new in the Kingdom of God."

26And, having sung a hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial
(Matthew 26:31–35; Luke 22:31–38; John 13:36–38)

27And Jesus saith to them, "All ye will be made to stumble; because it has been written, 'I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered abroad.' 28But, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee." 29But Peter said to Him, "If even all should be made to stumble, yet will not I!" 30And Jesus saith to him, "Verily I say to you, that you today, in this night, before the cock crows twice, will thrice deny Me." 31But he kept saying with great vehemence, "If I must die with Thee, I will not deny Thee!" And in like manner also said they all.

Jesus Prays at Gethsemane
(Matthew 26:36–46; Luke 22:39–46)

32And they come to a place the name of which is Gethsemane. And He saith to His disciples, "Sit ye here, while I pray." 33And He taketh with Him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly amazed, and to be in distress. 34And He saith to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, unto death! Abide here, and watch." 35And going forward a little, He fell on the ground, and was praying, that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from Him.

36And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to Thee; take away this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what Thou wilt." 37And He cometh and findeth them sleeping, and saith to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? were you not able to watch one hour? 38Watch, and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit, indeed, is willing, but the flesh is weak." 39And, going away again, He prayed, saying the same thing. 40And, returning, He found them again sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they knew not what to answer Him. 41And He cometh the third time, and saith to them, "Sleep on the remaining time, and take your rest. It is enough; the hour came; behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42Arise, let us be going. Behold, he that is betraying Me has come near."

The Betrayal of Jesus
(Matthew 26:47–56; Luke 22:47–53; John 18:1–14)

43And straightway, while He yet spake, comes Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the high priests and the scribes and the elders. 44Now he that was betraying Him gave them a signal, saying, "Whomsoever I shall kiss, This is He, take Him, and lead Him away securely." 45And, having come, going straightway to Him, he says, "Rabbi;" and kissed Him. 46And they laid hands on Him, and took Him. 47And one of those standing by, having drawn his sword, smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear. 48And Jesus answering, said to them, "Did ye come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs, to seize Me? 49I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye did not take Me; but this is done that the Scriptures may be fulfilled." 50And, having left Him, they all fled.

51And a certain young man was following with Him, having a linen cloth thrown around his naked body; and they lay hold on him; 52but, leaving the linen cloth, he fled naked.

Jesus before the Sanhedrin
(Matthew 26:57–68; Luke 22:66–71; John 18:19–24)

53And they led Jesus away to the high priest; and there come together with him all the high priests and the elders and the scribes. 54And Peter followed Him afar off, even within into the court of the high priest; and he was sitting with the attendants, and he was warming himself at the light of the fire. 55And the high priests and all the Sanhedrin were seeking for testimony against Jesus, in order to put Him to death; and they were not finding it. 56For many were bearing false testimony against Him, and their testimonies were not agreed. 57And certain ones, standing up, were bearing false testimony against Him, saying, 58"We heard Him say, 'I will destroy this temple made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.'" 59And not even so did their testimony agree. 60And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, "Dost Thou answer nothing? What do these testify against Thee?" 61But He was silent, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, and says to Him, "Art Thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" 62And Jesus said, "I am; and ye shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven." 63And the high priest, rending his clothes, says, "What further need have we of witnesses? 64Ye heard the blasphemy: what think ye?" And they all condemned Him to be worthy of death. 65And some began to spit on Him, and to cover His face, and to buffet Him, and to say to Him, "Prophesy;" and the officers received Him with blows of their hands.

Peter Denies Jesus
(Matthew 26:69–75; Luke 22:54–62; John 18:15–18)

66And, as Peter was beneath in the court, there comes one of the maids of the high priest; 67and, seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and says, "You also were with the Nazarene, Jesus." 68But he denied, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are saying." And he went out into the porch [and the cock crowed]. 69And the maid, seeing him, began again to say to those standing by, This is one of them." 70But he again denied. And, after a little while, those who stood by said to Peter, "Of a truth you are one of them; for you are a Galilaean." 71But he began to curse, and to swear, "I know not This Man of Whom ye speak." 72And straightway the second time the cock crowed. And Peter remembered the word, how Jesus said to him, "Before the cock crows twice, you will deny Me thrice." And, having thought thereon, he kept weeping.
