NET BibleNew Living Translation
How blessed are those whose actions are blameless, who obey the law of the LORD. 1Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the LORD.
How blessed are those who observe his rules, and seek him with all their heart, 2Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts.
who, moreover, do no wrong, but follow in his footsteps. 3They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in his paths.
You demand that your precepts be carefully kept. 4You have charged us to keep your commandments carefully.
If only I were predisposed to keep your statutes! 5Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees!
Then I would not be ashamed, if I were focused on all your commands. 6Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands.
I will give you sincere thanks, when I learn your just regulations. 7As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should!
I will keep your statutes. Do not completely abandon me! 8I will obey your decrees. Please don’t give up on me! Beth
How can a young person maintain a pure life? By guarding it according to your instructions! 9How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.
With all my heart I seek you. Do not allow me to stray from your commands! 10I have tried hard to find you— don’t let me wander from your commands.
In my heart I store up your words, so I might not sin against you. 11I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
You deserve praise, O LORD! Teach me your statutes! 12I praise you, O LORD; teach me your decrees.
With my lips I proclaim all the regulations you have revealed. 13I have recited aloud all the regulations you have given us.
I rejoice in the lifestyle prescribed by your rules as if they were riches of all kinds. 14I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches.
I will meditate on your precepts and focus on your behavior. 15I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways.
I find delight in your statutes; I do not forget your instructions. 16I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word. Gimel
Be kind to your servant! Then I will live and keep your instructions. 17Be good to your servant, that I may live and obey your word.
Open my eyes so I can truly see the marvelous things in your law! 18Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.
I am like a foreigner in this land. Do not hide your commands from me! 19I am only a foreigner in the land. Don’t hide your commands from me!
I desperately long to know your regulations at all times. 20I am always overwhelmed with a desire for your regulations.
You reprimand arrogant people. Those who stray from your commands are doomed. 21You rebuke the arrogant; those who wander from your commands are cursed.
Spare me shame and humiliation, for I observe your rules. 22Don’t let them scorn and insult me, for I have obeyed your laws.
Though rulers plot and slander me, your servant meditates on your statutes. 23Even princes sit and speak against me, but I will meditate on your decrees.
Yes, I find delight in your rules; they give me guidance. 24Your laws please me; they give me wise advice. Daleth
I collapse in the dirt. Revive me with your word! 25I lie in the dust; revive me by your word.
I told you about my ways and you answered me. Teach me your statutes! 26I told you my plans, and you answered. Now teach me your decrees.
Help me to understand what your precepts mean! Then I can meditate on your marvelous teachings. 27Help me understand the meaning of your commandments, and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds.
I collapse from grief. Sustain me by your word! 28I weep with sorrow; encourage me by your word.
Remove me from the path of deceit! Graciously give me your law! 29Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions.
I choose the path of faithfulness; I am committed to your regulations. 30I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations.
I hold fast to your rules. O LORD, do not let me be ashamed! 31I cling to your laws. LORD, don’t let me be put to shame!
I run along the path of your commands, for you enable me to do so. 32I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding. He
Teach me, O LORD, the lifestyle prescribed by your statutes, so that I might observe it continually. 33Teach me your decrees, O LORD; I will keep them to the end.
Give me understanding so that I might observe your law, and keep it with all my heart. 34Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart.
Guide me in the path of your commands, for I delight to walk in it. 35Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.
Give me a desire for your rules, rather than for wealth gained unjustly. 36Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money!
Turn my eyes away from what is worthless! Revive me with your word! 37Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word.
Confirm to your servant your promise, which you made to the one who honors you. 38Reassure me of your promise, made to those who fear you.
Take away the insults that I dread! Indeed, your regulations are good. 39Help me abandon my shameful ways; for your regulations are good.
Look, I long for your precepts. Revive me with your deliverance! 40I long to obey your commandments! Renew my life with your goodness. Waw
May I experience your loyal love, O LORD, and your deliverance, as you promised. 41LORD, give me your unfailing love, the salvation that you promised me.
Then I will have a reply for the one who insults me, for I trust in your word. 42Then I can answer those who taunt me, for I trust in your word.
Do not completely deprive me of a truthful testimony, for I await your justice. 43Do not snatch your word of truth from me, for your regulations are my only hope.
Then I will keep your law continually now and for all time. 44I will keep on obeying your instructions forever and ever.
I will be secure, for I seek your precepts. 45I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments.
I will speak about your regulations before kings and not be ashamed. 46I will speak to kings about your laws, and I will not be ashamed.
I will find delight in your commands, which I love. 47How I delight in your commands! How I love them!
I will lift my hands to your commands, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes. 48I honor and love your commands. I meditate on your decrees. Zayin
Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. 49Remember your promise to me; it is my only hope.
This is what comforts me in my trouble, for your promise revives me. 50Your promise revives me; it comforts me in all my troubles.
Arrogant people do nothing but scoff at me. Yet I do not turn aside from your law. 51The proud hold me in utter contempt, but I do not turn away from your instructions.
I remember your ancient regulations, O LORD, and console myself. 52I meditate on your age-old regulations; O LORD, they comfort me.
Rage takes hold of me because of the wicked, those who reject your law. 53I become furious with the wicked, because they reject your instructions.
Your statutes have been my songs in the house where I live. 54Your decrees have been the theme of my songs wherever I have lived.
I remember your name during the night, O LORD, and I will keep your law. 55I reflect at night on who you are, O LORD; therefore, I obey your instructions.
This has been my practice, for I observe your precepts. 56This is how I spend my life: obeying your commandments. Heth
The LORD is my source of security. I have determined to follow your instructions. 57LORD, you are mine! I promise to obey your words!
I seek your favor with all my heart. Have mercy on me as you promised! 58With all my heart I want your blessings. Be merciful as you promised.
I consider my actions and follow your rules. 59I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws.
I keep your commands eagerly and without delay. 60I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands.
The ropes of the wicked tighten around me, but I do not forget your law. 61Evil people try to drag me into sin, but I am firmly anchored to your instructions.
In the middle of the night I arise to thank you for your just regulations. 62I rise at midnight to thank you for your just regulations.
I am a friend to all your loyal followers, and to those who keep your precepts. 63I am a friend to anyone who fears you— anyone who obeys your commandments.
O LORD, your loyal love fills the earth. Teach me your statutes! 64O LORD, your unfailing love fills the earth; teach me your decrees. Teth
You are good to your servant, O LORD, just as you promised. 65You have done many good things for me, LORD, just as you promised.
Teach me proper discernment and understanding! For I consider your commands to be reliable. 66I believe in your commands; now teach me good judgment and knowledge.
Before I was afflicted I used to stray off, but now I keep your instructions. 67I used to wander off until you disciplined me; but now I closely follow your word.
You are good and you do good. Teach me your statutes! 68You are good and do only good; teach me your decrees.
Arrogant people smear my reputation with lies, but I observe your precepts with all my heart. 69Arrogant people smear me with lies, but in truth I obey your commandments with all my heart.
Their hearts are calloused, but I find delight in your law. 70Their hearts are dull and stupid, but I delight in your instructions.
It was good for me to suffer, so that I might learn your statutes. 71My suffering was good for me, for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees.
The law you have revealed is more important to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. 72Your instructions are more valuable to me than millions in gold and silver. Yodh
Your hands made me and formed me. Give me understanding so that I might learn your commands. 73You made me; you created me. Now give me the sense to follow your commands.
Your loyal followers will be glad when they see me, for I find hope in your word. 74May all who fear you find in me a cause for joy, for I have put my hope in your word.
I know, LORD, that your regulations are just. You disciplined me because of your faithful devotion to me. 75I know, O LORD, that your regulations are fair; you disciplined me because I needed it.
May your loyal love console me, as you promised your servant. 76Now let your unfailing love comfort me, just as you promised me, your servant.
May I experience your compassion, so I might live! For I find delight in your law. 77Surround me with your tender mercies so I may live, for your instructions are my delight.
May the arrogant be humiliated, for they have slandered me! But I meditate on your precepts. 78Bring disgrace upon the arrogant people who lied about me; meanwhile, I will concentrate on your commandments.
May your loyal followers turn to me, those who know your rules. 79Let me be united with all who fear you, with those who know your laws.
May I be fully committed to your statutes, so that I might not be ashamed. 80May I be blameless in keeping your decrees; then I will never be ashamed. Kaph
I desperately long for your deliverance. I find hope in your word. 81I am worn out waiting for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your word.
My eyes grow tired as I wait for your promise to be fulfilled. I say, "When will you comfort me?" 82My eyes are straining to see your promises come true. When will you comfort me?
For I am like a wineskin dried up in smoke. I do not forget your statutes. 83I am shriveled like a wineskin in the smoke, but I have not forgotten to obey your decrees.
How long must your servant endure this? When will you judge those who pursue me? 84How long must I wait? When will you punish those who persecute me?
The arrogant dig pits to trap me, which violates your law. 85These arrogant people who hate your instructions have dug deep pits to trap me.
All your commands are reliable. I am pursued without reason. Help me! 86All your commands are trustworthy. Protect me from those who hunt me down without cause.
They have almost destroyed me here on the earth, but I do not reject your precepts. 87They almost finished me off, but I refused to abandon your commandments.
Revive me with your loyal love, that I might keep the rules you have revealed. 88In your unfailing love, spare my life; then I can continue to obey your laws. Lamedh
O LORD, your instructions endure; they stand secure in heaven. 89Your eternal word, O LORD, stands firm in heaven.
You demonstrate your faithfulness to all generations. You established the earth and it stood firm. 90Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth you created.
Today they stand firm by your decrees, for all things are your servants. 91Your regulations remain true to this day, for everything serves your plans.
If I had not found encouragement in your law, I would have died in my sorrow. 92If your instructions hadn’t sustained me with joy, I would have died in my misery.
I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have revived me. 93I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.
I belong to you. Deliver me! For I seek your precepts. 94I am yours; rescue me! For I have worked hard at obeying your commandments.
The wicked prepare to kill me, yet I concentrate on your rules. 95Though the wicked hide along the way to kill me, I will quietly keep my mind on your laws.
I realize that everything has its limits, but your commands are beyond full comprehension. 96Even perfection has its limits, but your commands have no limit. Mem
O how I love your law! All day long I meditate on it. 97Oh, how I love your instructions! I think about them all day long.
Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, for I am always aware of them. 98Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are my constant guide.
I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your rules. 99Yes, I have more insight than my teachers, for I am always thinking of your laws.
I am more discerning than those older than I, for I observe your precepts. 100I am even wiser than my elders, for I have kept your commandments.
I stay away from the evil path, so that I might keep your instructions. 101I have refused to walk on any evil path, so that I may remain obedient to your word.
I do not turn aside from your regulations, for you teach me. 102I haven’t turned away from your regulations, for you have taught me well.
Your words are sweeter in my mouth than honey! 103How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey.
Your precepts give me discernment. Therefore I hate all deceitful actions. 104Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way of life. Nun
Your word is a lamp to walk by, and a light to illumine my path. 105Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
I have vowed and solemnly sworn to keep your just regulations. 106I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise it again: I will obey your righteous regulations.
I am suffering terribly. O LORD, revive me with your word! 107I have suffered much, O LORD; restore my life again as you promised.
O LORD, please accept the freewill offerings of my praise! Teach me your regulations! 108LORD, accept my offering of praise, and teach me your regulations.
My life is in continual danger, but I do not forget your law. 109My life constantly hangs in the balance, but I will not stop obeying your instructions.
The wicked lay a trap for me, but I do not wander from your precepts. 110The wicked have set their traps for me, but I will not turn from your commandments.
I claim your rules as my permanent possession, for they give me joy. 111Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight.
I am determined to obey your statutes at all times, to the very end. 112I am determined to keep your decrees to the very end. Samekh
I hate people with divided loyalties, but I love your law. 113I hate those with divided loyalties, but I love your instructions.
You are my hiding place and my shield. I find hope in your word. 114You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.
Turn away from me, you evil men, so that I can observe the commands of my God. 115Get out of my life, you evil-minded people, for I intend to obey the commands of my God.
Sustain me as you promised, so that I will live. Do not disappoint me! 116LORD, sustain me as you promised, that I may live! Do not let my hope be crushed.
Support me, so that I will be delivered. Then I will focus on your statutes continually. 117Sustain me, and I will be rescued; then I will meditate continually on your decrees.
You despise all who stray from your statutes, for they are deceptive and unreliable. 118But you have rejected all who stray from your decrees. They are only fooling themselves.
You remove all the wicked of the earth like slag. Therefore I love your rules. 119You skim off the wicked of the earth like scum; no wonder I love to obey your laws!
My body trembles because I fear you; I am afraid of your judgments. 120I tremble in fear of you; I stand in awe of your regulations. Ayin
I do what is fair and right. Do not abandon me to my oppressors! 121Don’t leave me to the mercy of my enemies, for I have done what is just and right.
Guarantee the welfare of your servant! Do not let the arrogant oppress me! 122Please guarantee a blessing for me. Don’t let the arrogant oppress me!
My eyes grow tired as I wait for your deliverance, for your reliable promise to be fulfilled. 123My eyes strain to see your rescue, to see the truth of your promise fulfilled.
Show your servant your loyal love! Teach me your statutes! 124I am your servant; deal with me in unfailing love, and teach me your decrees.
I am your servant. Give me insight, so that I can understand your rules. 125Give discernment to me, your servant; then I will understand your laws.
It is time for the LORD to act--they break your law! 126LORD, it is time for you to act, for these evil people have violated your instructions.
For this reason I love your commands more than gold, even purest gold. 127Truly, I love your commands more than gold, even the finest gold.
For this reason I carefully follow all your precepts. I hate all deceitful actions. 128Each of your commandments is right. That is why I hate every false way. Pe
Your rules are marvelous. Therefore I observe them. 129Your laws are wonderful. No wonder I obey them!
Your instructions are a doorway through which light shines. They give insight to the untrained. 130The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand.
I open my mouth and pant, because I long for your commands. 131I pant with expectation, longing for your commands.
Turn toward me and extend mercy to me, as you typically do to your loyal followers. 132Come and show me your mercy, as you do for all who love your name.
Direct my steps by your word! Do not let any sin dominate me! 133Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil.
Deliver me from oppressive men, so that I can keep your precepts. 134Ransom me from the oppression of evil people; then I can obey your commandments.
Smile on your servant! Teach me your statutes! 135Look upon me with love; teach me your decrees.
Tears stream down from my eyes, because people do not keep your law. 136Rivers of tears gush from my eyes because people disobey your instructions. Tsadhe
You are just, O LORD, and your judgments are fair. 137O LORD, you are righteous, and your regulations are fair.
The rules you impose are just, and absolutely reliable. 138Your laws are perfect and completely trustworthy.
My zeal consumes me, for my enemies forget your instructions. 139I am overwhelmed with indignation, for my enemies have disregarded your words.
Your word is absolutely pure, and your servant loves it! 140Your promises have been thoroughly tested; that is why I love them so much.
I am insignificant and despised, yet I do not forget your precepts. 141I am insignificant and despised, but I don’t forget your commandments.
Your justice endures, and your law is reliable. 142Your justice is eternal, and your instructions are perfectly true.
Distress and hardship confront me, yet I find delight in your commands. 143As pressure and stress bear down on me, I find joy in your commands.
Your rules remain just. Give me insight so that I can live. 144Your laws are always right; help me to understand them so I may live. Qoph
I cried out with all my heart, "Answer me, O LORD! I will observe your statutes." 145I pray with all my heart; answer me, LORD! I will obey your decrees.
I cried out to you, "Deliver me, so that I can keep your rules." 146I cry out to you; rescue me, that I may obey your laws.
I am up before dawn crying for help. I find hope in your word. 147I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words.
My eyes anticipate the nighttime hours, so that I can meditate on your word. 148I stay awake through the night, thinking about your promise.
Listen to me because of your loyal love! O LORD, revive me, as you typically do! 149In your faithful love, O LORD, hear my cry; let me be revived by following your regulations.
Those who are eager to do wrong draw near; they are far from your law. 150Lawless people are coming to attack me; they live far from your instructions.
You are near, O LORD, and all your commands are reliable. 151But you are near, O LORD, and all your commands are true.
I learned long ago that you ordained your rules to last. 152I have known from my earliest days that your laws will last forever. Resh
See my pain and rescue me! For I do not forget your law. 153Look upon my suffering and rescue me, for I have not forgotten your instructions.
Fight for me and defend me! Revive me with your word! 154Argue my case; take my side! Protect my life as you promised.
The wicked have no chance for deliverance, for they do not seek your statutes. 155The wicked are far from rescue, for they do not bother with your decrees.
Your compassion is great, O LORD. Revive me, as you typically do! 156LORD, how great is your mercy; let me be revived by following your regulations.
The enemies who chase me are numerous. Yet I do not turn aside from your rules. 157Many persecute and trouble me, yet I have not swerved from your laws.
I take note of the treacherous and despise them, because they do not keep your instructions. 158Seeing these traitors makes me sick at heart, because they care nothing for your word.
See how I love your precepts! O LORD, revive me with your loyal love! 159See how I love your commandments, LORD. Give back my life because of your unfailing love.
Your instructions are totally reliable; all your just regulations endure. 160The very essence of your words is truth; all your just regulations will stand forever. Shin
Rulers pursue me for no reason, yet I am more afraid of disobeying your instructions. 161Powerful people harass me without cause, but my heart trembles only at your word.
I rejoice in your instructions, like one who finds much plunder. 162I rejoice in your word like one who discovers a great treasure.
I hate and despise deceit; I love your law. 163I hate and abhor all falsehood, but I love your instructions.
Seven times a day I praise you because of your just regulations. 164I will praise you seven times a day because all your regulations are just.
Those who love your law are completely secure; nothing causes them to stumble. 165Those who love your instructions have great peace and do not stumble.
I hope for your deliverance, O LORD, and I obey your commands. 166I long for your rescue, LORD, so I have obeyed your commands.
I keep your rules; I love them greatly. 167I have obeyed your laws, for I love them very much.
I keep your precepts and rules, for you are aware of everything I do. 168Yes, I obey your commandments and laws because you know everything I do. Taw
Listen to my cry for help, O LORD! Give me insight by your word! 169O LORD, listen to my cry; give me the discerning mind you promised.
Listen to my appeal for mercy! Deliver me, as you promised. 170Listen to my prayer; rescue me as you promised.
May praise flow freely from my lips, for you teach me your statutes. 171Let praise flow from my lips, for you have taught me your decrees.
May my tongue sing about your instructions, for all your commands are just. 172Let my tongue sing about your word, for all your commands are right.
May your hand help me, for I choose to obey your precepts. 173Give me a helping hand, for I have chosen to follow your commandments.
I long for your deliverance, O LORD; I find delight in your law. 174O LORD, I have longed for your rescue, and your instructions are my delight.
May I live and praise you! May your regulations help me! 175Let me live so I can praise you, and may your regulations help me.
I have wandered off like a lost sheep. Come looking for your servant, for I do not forget your commands. 176I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come and find me, for I have not forgotten your commands.
