Kings of the South and North

1  וַאֲנִי֙ (And I) בִּשְׁנַ֣ת (year) אַחַ֔ת (in the first) לְדָרְיָ֖וֶשׁ (of Darius) הַמָּדִ֑י (the Mede), עָמְדִ֛י (my standing) לְמַחֲזִ֥יק (is for a strengthener) וּלְמָע֖וֹז (and for a stronghold) לֽוֹ׃ (to him).

2  וְעַתָּ֕ה (And now) אֱמֶ֖ת (the truth). אַגִּ֣יד (I declare) לָ֑ךְ (to you) הִנֵּה־ (behold), עוֹד֩ (yet) שְׁלֹשָׁ֨ה (three) מְלָכִ֜ים (kings) עֹמְדִ֣ים (will be rising up) לְפָרַ֗ס (in Persia); וְהָֽרְבִיעִי֙ (and the fourth) יַעֲשִׁ֤יר (will be rich) עֹֽשֶׁר־ (with riches) גָּדוֹל֙ (greater) מִכֹּ֔ל (than all); וּכְחֶזְקָת֣וֹ (and according to his strength) בְעָשְׁר֔וֹ (by his riches) יָעִ֣יר (he will rouse) הַכֹּ֔ל (everyone) אֵ֖ת (against) מַלְכ֥וּת (the kingdom) יָוָֽן׃ (of Javan).

3  וְעָמַ֖ד (And will arise), מֶ֣לֶךְ (a king) גִּבּ֑וֹר (mighty) וּמָשַׁל֙ (and he will rule) מִמְשָׁ֣ל (with dominion), רַ֔ב (great) וְעָשָׂ֖ה (and he will do) כִּרְצוֹנֽוֹ׃ (according to his will). 4  וּכְעָמְדוֹ֙ (And according to his standing), תִּשָּׁבֵ֣ר (will be broken up), מַלְכוּת֔וֹ (his kingdom) וְתֵחָ֕ץ (and will be divided) לְאַרְבַּ֖ע (to the four) רוּח֣וֹת (winds) הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם (of the heavens); וְלֹ֣א (not) לְאַחֲרִית֗וֹ (to his posterity), וְלֹ֤א (and not) כְמָשְׁלוֹ֙ (according to his dominion) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (by which) מָשָׁ֔ל (he ruled), כִּ֤י (for) תִנָּתֵשׁ֙ (will be uprooted), מַלְכוּת֔וֹ (his kingdom) וְלַאֲחֵרִ֖ים (and unto others) מִלְּבַד־ (apart from) אֵֽלֶּה׃ (these).

5  וְיֶחֱזַ֥ק (And will become strong), מֶֽלֶךְ־ (the king) הַנֶּ֖גֶב (of the south) וּמִן־ (and one from) שָׂרָ֑יו (his princes); וְיֶחֱזַ֤ק (and will gain strength even) עָלָיו֙ (over him) וּמָשָׁ֔ל (and he will rule); מִמְשָׁ֥ל (dominion) רַ֖ב (a great) מֶמְשַׁלְתּֽוֹ׃ (is his dominion).

6  וּלְקֵ֤ץ (And at the end) שָׁנִים֙ (of years) יִתְחַבָּ֔רוּ (they will be united); וּבַ֣ת (and the daughter) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (of the king) הַנֶּ֗גֶב (of the south) תָּבוֹא֙ (will come) אֶל־ (to) מֶ֣לֶךְ (the king) הַצָּפ֔וֹן (of the north) לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת (to make) מֵישָׁרִ֑ים (an agreement); וְלֹֽא־ (not) תַעְצֹ֞ר (she will retain) כּ֣וֹחַ (the strength) הַזְּר֗וֹעַ (of her arm); וְלֹ֤א (and neither) יַעֲמֹד֙ (will he stand), וּזְרֹע֔וֹ (nor his arm), וְתִנָּתֵ֨ן (and will be given up), הִ֤יא (she) וּמְבִיאֶ֙יהָ֙ (and those who brought her) וְהַיֹּ֣לְדָ֔הּ (and the one who begat her) וּמַחֲזִקָ֖הּ (and the one who strengthened her) בָּעִתִּֽים׃ (in those times).

7  וְעָמַ֛ד (And one will arise) מִנֵּ֥צֶר (from a branch) שָׁרָשֶׁ֖יהָ (of her roots) כַּנּ֑וֹ (in his place), וְיָבֹ֣א (and he will come) אֶל־ (with) הַחַ֗יִל (an army), וְיָבֹא֙ (and he will come) בְּמָעוֹז֙ (into the fortress) מֶ֣לֶךְ (of the king) הַצָּפ֔וֹן (of the north), וְעָשָׂ֥ה (and he will deal) בָהֶ֖ם (with them) וְהֶחֱזִֽיק׃ (and he will prevail); 8  וְגַ֣ם (and even) אֱ‍ֽלֹהֵיהֶ֡ם (their gods), עִם־ (with) נְסִֽכֵיהֶם֩ (their princes), עִם־ (with) כְּלֵ֨י (the vessels) חֶמְדָּתָ֜ם (of their desiring) כֶּ֧סֶף (silver) וְזָהָ֛ב (and gold); בַּשְּׁבִ֖י (into captivity) יָבִ֣א (he will carry away) מִצְרָ֑יִם (to Egypt) וְהוּא֙ (and he) שָׁנִ֣ים (some years) יַעֲמֹ֔ד (will stand back) מִמֶּ֖לֶךְ (from the king) הַצָּפֽוֹן׃ (of the north). 9  וּבָ֗א (And he will come) בְּמַלְכוּת֙ (into the kingdom), מֶ֣לֶךְ (of the king) הַנֶּ֔גֶב (of the south) וְשָׁ֖ב (and he will return) אֶל־ (to) אַדְמָתֽוֹ׃ (his own land).

10  וּבְנוֹ (And his sons) יִתְגָּר֗וּ (will stir up strife) וְאָסְפוּ֙ (and they will gather) הֲמוֹן֙ (a multitude) חֲיָלִ֣ים (of forces); רַבִּ֔ים (great) וּבָ֥א (and coming) ב֖וֹא (it will come), וְשָׁטַ֣ף (and will flow over), וְעָבָ֑ר (and pass through); וְיָשֹׁ֥ב (and will return), וְיִתְגָּרוּ (and carry the war), עַד־ (as far as) מָעֻזָּה׃ (his fortress). 11  וְיִתְמַרְמַר֙ (And will be enraged), מֶ֣לֶךְ (the king) הַנֶּ֔גֶב (of the south) וְיָצָ֕א (and he will go out) וְנִלְחַ֥ם (and with fight) עִמּ֖וֹ (with him) עִם־ (with) מֶ֣לֶךְ (the king) הַצָּפ֑וֹן (of the north). וְהֶעֱמִיד֙ (And he will raise up) הָמ֣וֹן (a multitude); רָ֔ב (great) וְנִתַּ֥ן (and will be given) הֶהָמ֖וֹן (the multitude) בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ (into his hand).

12  וְנִשָּׂ֥א (And he has taken away) הֶהָמ֖וֹן (the multitude), יָרוּם (and will be lifted up); לְבָב֑וֹ (his heart) וְהִפִּ֛יל (and he will cause to fall) רִבֹּא֖וֹת (thousands); וְלֹ֥א (and not) יָעֽוֹז׃ (he will prevail). 13  וְשָׁב֙ (And for will return), מֶ֣לֶךְ (the king) הַצָּפ֔וֹן (of the north) וְהֶעֱמִ֣יד (and he will raise) הָמ֔וֹן (a multitude) רַ֖ב (greater) מִן־ (than) הָרִאשׁ֑וֹן (the first), וּלְקֵ֨ץ (at the end) הָֽעִתִּ֤ים (of the times) שָׁנִים֙ (of years) יָ֣בוֹא (coming) ב֔וֹא (he will come) בְּחַ֥יִל (with an army) גָּד֖וֹל (great) וּבִרְכ֥וּשׁ (and with supplies) רָֽב׃ (many).

14  וּבָעִתִּ֣ים (And in the times) הָהֵ֔ם (those) רַבִּ֥ים (many) יַֽעַמְד֖וּ (will rise up) עַל־ (against) מֶ֣לֶךְ (the king) הַנֶּ֑גֶב (of the south); וּבְנֵ֣י׀ (and sons) פָּרִיצֵ֣י (of violence) עַמְּךָ֗ (among your people) יִֽנַּשְּׂא֛וּ (will exalt themselves) לְהַעֲמִ֥יד (to fulfill) חָז֖וֹן (the vision); וְנִכְשָֽׁלוּ׃ (and they will fall).

15  וְיָבֹא֙ (And will come), מֶ֣לֶךְ (the king) הַצָּפ֔וֹן (of the north) וְיִשְׁפֹּךְ֙ (and he will build) סֽוֹלֲלָ֔ה (a siege mound), וְלָכַ֖ד (and he will capture) עִ֣יר (a city); מִבְצָר֑וֹת (of fortifications) וּזְרֹע֤וֹת (and the forces) הַנֶּ֙גֶב֙ (of the south) לֹ֣א (not) יַעֲמֹ֔דוּ (will stand), וְעַם֙ (troops), מִבְחָרָ֔יו (even their best) וְאֵ֥ין (not) כֹּ֖חַ (will have strength) לַעֲמֹֽד׃ (to stand). 16  וְיַ֨עַשׂ (And will do) הַבָּ֤א (the one coming) אֵלָיו֙ (against him) כִּרְצוֹנ֔וֹ (according to his will), וְאֵ֥ין (and no one) עוֹמֵ֖ד (will stand) לְפָנָ֑יו (before his face) וְיַעֲמֹ֥ד (and he will stand) בְּאֶֽרֶץ־ (in the land), הַצְּבִ֖י (of glory) וְכָלָ֥ה (and destruction) בְיָדֽוֹ׃ (in his hand). 17  וְיָשֵׂ֣ם׀ (And he will set) פָּ֠נָיו (his face) לָב֞וֹא (to enter) בְּתֹ֧קֶף (with the strength) כָּל־ (of all) מַלְכוּת֛וֹ (his kingdom), וִישָׁרִ֥ים (and upright ones) עִמּ֖וֹ (with him) וְעָשָׂ֑ה (and he will act); וּבַ֤ת (and the daughter) הַנָּשִׁים֙ (of the women), יִתֶּן־ (he will give) ל֣וֹ (to him) לְהַשְׁחִיתָ֔הּ (to corrupt her) וְלֹ֥א (not) תַעֲמֹ֖ד (will she stand) וְלֹא־ (and not) ל֥וֹ (for him) תִהְיֶֽה׃ (she will be).

18  וְיָשֵׁב (And he will turn back) פָּנָ֛יו (his face) לְאִיִּ֖ים (to the coastlands), וְלָכַ֣ד (and he will capture) רַבִּ֑ים (many). וְהִשְׁבִּ֨ית (And will bring to an end); קָצִ֤ין (a ruler) חֶרְפָּתוֹ֙ (the scorn) ל֔וֹ (unto him) בִּלְתִּ֥י (nevertheless) חֶרְפָּת֖וֹ (his scorn) יָשִׁ֥יב (he will cause to turn back) לֽוֹ׃ (to him). 19  וְיָשֵׁ֣ב (And he will turn) פָּנָ֔יו (his face) לְמָעוּזֵּ֖י (toward the fortress) אַרְצ֑וֹ (of his own land), וְנִכְשַׁ֥ל (and he will stumble) וְנָפַ֖ל (and fall), וְלֹ֥א (and not) יִמָּצֵֽא׃ (will he found).

20  וְעָמַ֧ד (And there will arise) עַל־ (upon) כַּנּ֛וֹ (his station) מַעֲבִ֥יר (one making pass through) נוֹגֵ֖שׂ (a pressing) הֶ֣דֶר (for the splendor) מַלְכ֑וּת (of the kingdom); וּבְיָמִ֤ים (and in days) אֲחָדִים֙ (a few) יִשָּׁבֵ֔ר (he will be broken), וְלֹ֥א (and though not) בְאַפַּ֖יִם (in anger), וְלֹ֥א (and not) בְמִלְחָמָֽה׃ (in battle).

21  וְעָמַ֤ד (And will arise) עַל־ (upon) כַּנּוֹ֙ (his station) נִבְזֶ֔ה (a despicable one), וְלֹא־ (and not) נָתְנ֥וּ (will they give) עָלָ֖יו (upon him) ה֣וֹד (the splendor) מַלְכ֑וּת (of royalty); וּבָ֣א (and he will come) בְשַׁלְוָ֔ה (in a time of ease), וְהֶחֱזִ֥יק (and will seize) מַלְכ֖וּת (the kingdom) בַּחֲלַקְלַקּֽוֹת׃ (by flatteries). 22  וּזְרֹע֥וֹת (And the arms) הַשֶּׁ֛טֶף (of the flood) יִשָּׁטְפ֥וּ (will be swept away) מִלְּפָנָ֖יו (from before him) וְיִשָּׁבֵ֑רוּ (and they will be broken); וְגַ֖ם (and also) נְגִ֥יד (the prince) בְּרִֽית׃ (of the covenant).

23  וּמִן־ (And after) הִֽתְחַבְּר֥וּת (they join) אֵלָ֖יו (with him) יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה (he will act) מִרְמָ֑ה (with deceit), וְעָלָ֥ה (and for he will come up), וְעָצַ֖ם (and become strong) בִּמְעַט־ (with a small number) גּֽוֹי׃ (of people). 24  בְּשַׁלְוָ֞ה (In a time of ease) וּבְמִשְׁמַנֵּ֣י (the richest) מְדִינָה֮ (provinces); יָבוֹא֒ (he will enter) וְעָשָׂ֗ה (and he will do) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (what) לֹא־ (not) עָשׂ֤וּ (have done), אֲבֹתָיו֙ (his fathers) וַאֲב֣וֹת (and the fathers) אֲבֹתָ֔יו (of his fathers); בִּזָּ֧ה (plunder), וְשָׁלָ֛ל (and spoils), וּרְכ֖וּשׁ (and riches); לָהֶ֣ם (unto them) יִבְז֑וֹר (he will disperse) וְעַ֧ל (and against) מִבְצָרִ֛ים (the fortifications), יְחַשֵּׁ֥ב (he will devise) מַחְשְׁבֹתָ֖יו (his plans) וְעַד־ (and only for) עֵֽת׃ (a time).

25  וְיָעֵר֩ (And he will rouse) כֹּח֨וֹ (his power) וּלְבָב֜וֹ (and his heart) עַל־ (against) מֶ֣לֶךְ (the king) הַנֶּגֶב֮ (of the south) בְּחַ֣יִל (with an army); גָּדוֹל֒ (great) וּמֶ֣לֶךְ (and the king) הַנֶּ֗גֶב (of the south) יִתְגָּרֶה֙ (will be stirred up) לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה (to battle) בְּחַֽיִל־ (with an army); גָּד֥וֹל (a great) וְעָצ֖וּם (and mighty) עַד־ (even) מְאֹ֑ד (exceedingly) וְלֹ֣א (not) יַעֲמֹ֔ד (will he stand), כִּֽי־ (for) יַחְשְׁב֥וּ (they will devise) עָלָ֖יו (against him) מַחֲשָׁבֽוֹת׃ (plans). 26  וְאֹכְלֵ֧י (And those eating) פַת־ (of the portion) בָּג֛וֹ (of his portion) יִשְׁבְּר֖וּהוּ (will destroy him) וְחֵיל֣וֹ (and his army) יִשְׁט֑וֹף (will be swept away), וְנָפְל֖וּ (and will fall) חֲלָלִ֥ים (slain) רַבִּֽים׃ (many).

27  וּשְׁנֵיהֶ֤ם (And two) הַמְּלָכִים֙ (the kings) לְבָבָ֣ם (their heart) לְמֵרָ֔ע (is on evil), וְעַל־ (and at) שֻׁלְחָ֥ן (a table); אֶחָ֖ד (common) כָּזָ֣ב (lies) יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ (they speak) וְלֹ֣א (not) תִצְלָ֔ח (will it prosper), כִּי־ (for) ע֥וֹד (still) קֵ֖ץ (the end) לַמּוֹעֵֽד׃ (is at the appointed time). 28  וְיָשֹׁ֤ב (And he will return) אַרְצוֹ֙ (to his land) בִּרְכ֣וּשׁ (with riches); גָּד֔וֹל (great) וּלְבָב֖וֹ (and his heart) עַל־ (will be against) בְּרִ֣ית (the covenant); קֹ֑דֶשׁ (of holiness) וְעָשָׂ֖ה (and he will act) וְשָׁ֥ב (and he will return) לְאַרְצֽוֹ׃ (to his own land).

29  לַמּוֹעֵ֥ד (At the appointed time) יָשׁ֖וּב (he will return), וּבָ֣א (and he will come) בַנֶּ֑גֶב (into the south); וְלֹֽא־ (not) תִהְיֶ֥ה (will it be) כָרִאשֹׁנָ֖ה (like the first), וְכָאַחֲרֹנָֽה׃ (and this last time). 30  וּבָ֨אוּ (And for will come) ב֜וֹ (against him) צִיִּ֤ים (ships of) כִּתִּים֙ (the Kittim) וְנִכְאָ֔ה (and he will be disheartened), וְשָׁ֛ב (and he will return), וְזָעַ֥ם (and being angered) עַל־ (against) בְּרִֽית־ (the covenant); ק֖וֹדֶשׁ (of holiness) וְעָשָׂ֑ה (and he will act); וְשָׁ֣ב (and he will turn back), וְיָבֵ֔ן (and he will pay attention) עַל־ (to) עֹזְבֵ֖י (those forsaking) בְּרִ֥ית (the covenant) קֹֽדֶשׁ׃ (of holiness). 31  וּזְרֹעִ֖ים (And forces) מִמֶּ֣נּוּ (from him), יַעֲמֹ֑דוּ (will stand) וְחִלְּל֞וּ (and they will profane) הַמִּקְדָּ֤שׁ (the sanctuary) הַמָּעוֹז֙ (and the fortress), וְהֵסִ֣ירוּ (and they will turn away) הַתָּמִ֔יד (the daily sacrifice) וְנָתְנ֖וּ (and they will set up) הַשִּׁקּ֥וּץ (the abomination) מְשׁוֹמֵֽם׃ (of desolation).

32  וּמַרְשִׁיעֵ֣י (And those acting wickedly toward) בְרִ֔ית (the covenant) יַחֲנִ֖יף (he will corrupt) בַּחֲלַקּ֑וֹת (by flatteries); וְעַ֛ם (and the people) יֹדְעֵ֥י (who know) אֱלֹהָ֖יו (their God) יַחֲזִ֥קוּ (will remain strong), וְעָשֽׂוּ׃ (and will take action). 33  וּמַשְׂכִּ֣ילֵי (And those acting prudently) עָ֔ם (among the people) יָבִ֖ינוּ (will bring understanding) לָֽרַבִּ֑ים (to many); וְנִכְשְׁל֞וּ (and they will fall) בְּחֶ֧רֶב (by sword), וּבְלֶהָבָ֛ה (and by flame), בִּשְׁבִ֥י (by captivity), וּבְבִזָּ֖ה (and by plunder), יָמִֽים׃ (for days).

34  וּבְהִכָּ֣שְׁלָ֔ם (And in their falling), יֵעָזְר֖וּ (they will be helped) עֵ֣זֶר (with help), מְעָ֑ט (with a little) וְנִלְו֧וּ (and will be joined) עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם (to them) רַבִּ֖ים (many) בַּחֲלַקְלַקּֽוֹת׃ (with flatteries). 35  וּמִן־ (And some) הַמַּשְׂכִּילִ֣ים (of understanding) יִכָּֽשְׁל֗וּ (will fall), לִצְר֥וֹף (in order to refine) בָּהֶ֛ם (them) וּלְבָרֵ֥ר (and to purify), וְלַלְבֵּ֖ן (and to make them white), עַד־ (until) עֵ֣ת (the time) קֵ֑ץ (of the end); כִּי־ (for) ע֖וֹד (it is yet) לַמּוֹעֵֽד׃ (for the appointed time).

The King Who Exalts Himself

36  וְעָשָׂ֨ה (And will act) כִרְצוֹנ֜וֹ (according to his desires); הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ (the king) וְיִתְרוֹמֵ֤ם (and he will exalt), וְיִתְגַּדֵּל֙ (and magnify himself) עַל־ (over) כָּל־ (every) אֵ֔ל (god), וְעַל֙ (and against) אֵ֣ל (the God) אֵלִ֔ים (of gods), יְדַבֵּ֖ר (he will speak) נִפְלָא֑וֹת (blasphemies) וְהִצְלִ֙יחַ֙ (and he will prosper) עַד־ (until) כָּ֣לָה (is accomplished), זַ֔עַם (the wrath) כִּ֥י (for) נֶחֱרָצָ֖ה (what is decreed) נֶעֱשָֽׂתָה׃ (will be done). 37  וְעַל־ (And to) אֱלֹהֵ֤י (the God) אֲבֹתָיו֙ (of his fathers), לֹ֣א (not) יָבִ֔ין (pay attention) וְעַל־ (or to) חֶמְדַּ֥ת (for the one desired) נָשִׁ֛ים (by women), וְעַֽל־ (and to) כָּל־ (any) אֱל֖וֹהַּ (god); לֹ֣א (not) יָבִ֑ין (will he pay attention) כִּ֥י (for) עַל־ (above) כֹּ֖ל (them all) יִתְגַּדָּֽל׃ (he will magnify himself).

38  וְלֶאֱלֹ֙הַּ֙ (And to a god) מָֽעֻזִּ֔ים (of fortresses), עַל־ (in) כַּנּ֖וֹ (their place) יְכַבֵּ֑ד (he will show honor) וְלֶאֱל֜וֹהַּ (and to a god) אֲשֶׁ֧ר (that) לֹא־ (not) יְדָעֻ֣הוּ (did know) אֲבֹתָ֗יו (his fathers) יְכַבֵּ֛ד (he will show honor) בְּזָהָ֥ב (with gold), וּבְכֶ֛סֶף (and with silver), וּבְאֶ֥בֶן (and with stones), יְקָרָ֖ה (precious) וּבַחֲמֻדֽוֹת׃ (and with desireable things). 39  וְעָשָׂ֞ה (And he will act) לְמִבְצְרֵ֤י (against the fortifications) מָֽעֻזִּים֙ (of strongholds) עִם־ (with) אֱל֣וֹהַּ (a god), נֵכָ֔ר (foreign) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (on those who) הִכִּיר (acknowledge him) יַרְבֶּ֣ה (he will increase) כָב֑וֹד (glory); וְהִמְשִׁילָם֙ (and make them to rule) בָּֽרַבִּ֔ים (over many), וַאֲדָמָ֖ה (and the land) יְחַלֵּ֥ק (he will divide) בִּמְחִֽיר׃ (at a price).

40  וּבְעֵ֣ת (And at the time) קֵ֗ץ (of the end) יִתְנַגַּ֤ח (will thrust) עִמּוֹ֙ (against him) מֶ֣לֶךְ (the king) הַנֶּ֔גֶב (of the south) וְיִשְׂתָּעֵ֨ר (and will storm) עָלָ֜יו (against him), מֶ֣לֶךְ (the king) הַצָּפ֗וֹן (of the North) בְּרֶ֙כֶב֙ (with chariots), וּבְפָ֣רָשִׁ֔ים (and with horsemen), וּבָאֳנִיּ֖וֹת (and with ships); רַבּ֑וֹת (many) וּבָ֥א (and he will come) בַאֲרָצ֖וֹת (into the lands), וְשָׁטַ֥ף (and will flow over) וְעָבָֽר׃ (and pass through). 41  וּבָא֙ (And he will come) בְּאֶ֣רֶץ (into the land), הַצְּבִ֔י (of glory) וְרַבּ֖וֹת (and many) יִכָּשֵׁ֑לוּ (will be overthrown); וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ (and these) יִמָּלְט֣וּ (will escape) מִיָּד֔וֹ (from his hand), אֱד֣וֹם (Edom), וּמוֹאָ֔ב (and Moab), וְרֵאשִׁ֖ית (and the first part) בְּנֵ֥י (of the sons) עַמּֽוֹן׃ (of Ammon).

42  וְיִשְׁלַ֥ח (And he will stretch out) יָד֖וֹ (his hand) בַּאֲרָצ֑וֹת (against the countries), וְאֶ֣רֶץ (and the land) מִצְרַ֔יִם (of Egypt) לֹ֥א (not) תִהְיֶ֖ה (will be) לִפְלֵיטָֽה׃ (for an escape). 43  וּמָשַׁ֗ל (And he will rule) בְּמִכְמַנֵּי֙ (over the treasures) הַזָּהָ֣ב (of gold) וְהַכֶּ֔סֶף (and silver), וּבְכֹ֖ל (and over all) חֲמֻד֣וֹת (the precious things) מִצְרָ֑יִם (of Egypt); וְלֻבִ֥ים (and the Libyans) וְכֻשִׁ֖ים (and Cushites will be) בְּמִצְעָדָֽיו׃ (in his steps).

44  וּשְׁמֻע֣וֹת (And news) יְבַהֲלֻ֔הוּ (will disturb him) מִמִּזְרָ֖ח (from the east) וּמִצָּפ֑וֹן (and from the north) וְיָצָא֙ (and he will go forth) בְּחֵמָ֣א (with fury) גְדֹלָ֔ה (great) לְהַשְׁמִ֥יד (to destroy), וּֽלְהַחֲרִ֖ים (and to devote to destruction) רַבִּֽים׃ (many). 45  וְיִטַּע֙ (And he will plant) אָהֳלֶ֣י (the tents) אַפַּדְנ֔וֹ (of his palace) בֵּ֥ין (between) יַמִּ֖ים (the seas) לְהַר־ (to the mountain); צְבִי־ (of the beauty) קֹ֑דֶשׁ (of holiness) וּבָא֙ (and he will come) עַד־ (to) קִצּ֔וֹ (his end), וְאֵ֥ין (and no one) עוֹזֵ֖ר (will help) לֽוֹ׃ (him).
