Setting Up the Tabernacle
(Acts 7:44–47; Hebrews 9:1–10)

1 וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 2 בְּיוֹם־ (On the day of) הַחֹ֥דֶשׁ (the month) הָרִאשׁ֖וֹן (first), בְּאֶחָ֣ד (in the first) לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ (month) תָּקִ֕ים (you shall raise up) אֶת־ (-) מִשְׁכַּ֖ן (the tabernacle) אֹ֥הֶל (of the Tent) מוֹעֵֽד׃ (of Meeting). 3 וְשַׂמְתָּ֣ (And you shall put) שָׁ֔ם (there) אֵ֖ת (-) אֲר֣וֹן (the ark) הָעֵד֑וּת (of the Testimony) וְסַכֹּתָ֥ (and you shall cover) עַל־ (over) הָאָרֹ֖ן (the ark) אֶת־ (with) הַפָּרֹֽכֶת׃ (the veil). 4 וְהֵבֵאתָ֙ (And you shall bring in) אֶת־ (-) הַשֻּׁלְחָ֔ן (the table) וְעָרַכְתָּ֖ (and you shall arrange) אֶת־ (-) עֶרְכּ֑וֹ (its arrangement), וְהֵבֵאתָ֙ (and you shall bring in) אֶת־ (-) הַמְּנֹרָ֔ה (the lampstand) וְהַעֲלֵיתָ֖ (and you shall set up) אֶת־ (-) נֵרֹתֶֽיהָ׃ (its lamps).

5 וְנָתַתָּ֞ה (And you shall set) אֶת־ (-) מִזְבַּ֤ח (the altar) הַזָּהָב֙ (of gold) לִקְטֹ֔רֶת (for incense) לִפְנֵ֖י (before the face of) אֲר֣וֹן (the ark) הָעֵדֻ֑ת (of the Testimony), וְשַׂמְתָּ֛ (and put up) אֶת־ (-) מָסַ֥ךְ (the screen) הַפֶּ֖תַח (of the door) לַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃ (for the tabernacle). 6 וְנָ֣תַתָּ֔ה (And you shall set) אֵ֖ת (-) מִזְבַּ֣ח (the altar) הָעֹלָ֑ה (of the burnt offering) לִפְנֵ֕י (before the face) פֶּ֖תַח (of the door) מִשְׁכַּ֥ן (of the tabernacle), אֹֽהֶל־ (the Tent) מוֹעֵֽד׃ (of Meeting). 7 וְנָֽתַתָּ֙ (And you shall set) אֶת־ (-) הַכִּיֹּ֔ר (the basin) בֵּֽין־ (between) אֹ֥הֶל (the Tent) מוֹעֵ֖ד (of Meeting) וּבֵ֣ין (and between) הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ (the altar), וְנָתַתָּ֥ (and you shall set) שָׁ֖ם (there) מָֽיִם׃ (water).

8 וְשַׂמְתָּ֥ (And you shall put up) אֶת־ (-) הֶחָצֵ֖ר (the court) סָבִ֑יב (all around), וְנָ֣תַתָּ֔ (and you shall set up) אֶת־ (-) מָסַ֖ךְ (the screen) שַׁ֥עַר (of the gate) הֶחָצֵֽר׃ (of the court).

9 וְלָקַחְתָּ֙ (And you shall take) אֶת־ (-) שֶׁ֣מֶן (oil) הַמִּשְׁחָ֔ה (the anointing), וּמָשַׁחְתָּ֥ (and you shall anoint) אֶת־ (-) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן (the tabernacle) וְאֶת־ (and) כָּל־ (all) אֲשֶׁר־ (that is) בּ֑וֹ (in it), וְקִדַּשְׁתָּ֥ (and you shall sanctify) אֹת֛וֹ (it) וְאֶת־ (and) כָּל־ (all) כֵּלָ֖יו (its vessels), וְהָ֥יָה (and it shall be) קֹֽדֶשׁ׃ (holy). 10 וּמָשַׁחְתָּ֛ (And you shall anoint) אֶת־ (-) מִזְבַּ֥ח (the altar) הָעֹלָ֖ה (of the burnt offering) וְאֶת־ (and) כָּל־ (all) כֵּלָ֑יו (its vessels), וְקִדַּשְׁתָּ֙ (and you shall sanctify) אֶת־ (-) הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ (the altar), וְהָיָ֥ה (and shall be) הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ (the altar) קֹ֥דֶשׁ (holy) קָֽדָשִֽׁים׃ (of holies). 11 וּמָשַׁחְתָּ֥ (And you shall anoint) אֶת־ (-) הַכִּיֹּ֖ר (the basin) וְאֶת־ (and) כַּנּ֑וֹ (its stand), וְקִדַּשְׁתָּ֖ (and you shall sanctify) אֹתֽוֹ׃ (it).

12 וְהִקְרַבְתָּ֤ (And you shall bring) אֶֽת־ (-) אַהֲרֹן֙ (Aaron) וְאֶת־ (and) בָּנָ֔יו (his sons) אֶל־ (to) פֶּ֖תַח (the door) אֹ֣הֶל (of the Tent) מוֹעֵ֑ד (of Meeting), וְרָחַצְתָּ֥ (and you shall wash) אֹתָ֖ם (them) בַּמָּֽיִם׃ (with the water). 13 וְהִלְבַּשְׁתָּ֙ (And you shall clothe) אֶֽת־ (-) אַהֲרֹ֔ן (Aaron) אֵ֖ת (with) בִּגְדֵ֣י (the garments) הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ (holy), וּמָשַׁחְתָּ֥ (and you shall anoint) אֹת֛וֹ (him), וְקִדַּשְׁתָּ֥ (and you shall sanctify) אֹת֖וֹ (him), וְכִהֵ֥ן (and he shall minister as priest) לִֽי׃ (to Me). 14 וְאֶת־ (And) בָּנָ֖יו (his sons) תַּקְרִ֑יב (you shall bring), וְהִלְבַּשְׁתָּ֥ (and you shall clothe) אֹתָ֖ם (them) כֻּתֳּנֹֽת׃ (with tunics). 15 וּמָשַׁחְתָּ֣ (And you shall anoint) אֹתָ֗ם (them) כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר (as) מָשַׁ֙חְתָּ֙ (you anointed) אֶת־ (-) אֲבִיהֶ֔ם (their father), וְכִהֲנ֖וּ (and they shall minister as priests) לִ֑י (to Me). וְ֠הָיְתָה (And being) לִהְיֹ֨ת (shall be) לָהֶ֧ם (to them) מָשְׁחָתָ֛ם (their anointing) לִכְהֻנַּ֥ת (a priesthood) עוֹלָ֖ם (everlasting) לְדֹרֹתָֽם׃ (throughout their generations).

16 וַיַּ֖עַשׂ (And did) מֹשֶׁ֑ה (Moses); כְּ֠כֹל (according to all) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) צִוָּ֧ה (had commanded) יְהוָ֛ה (YHWH) אֹת֖וֹ (him), כֵּ֥ן (so) עָשָֽׂה׃ס (he did). 17 וַיְהִ֞י (And it came to pass) בַּחֹ֧דֶשׁ (in the month) הָרִאשׁ֛וֹן (the frist), בַּשָּׁנָ֥ה (of the year) הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית (the second), בְּאֶחָ֣ד (on the first) לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ (of the month), הוּקַ֖ם (was raised up) הַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃ (the tabernacle).

18 וַיָּ֨קֶם (And raised up) מֹשֶׁ֜ה (Moses) אֶת־ (-) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֗ן (the tabernacle), וַיִּתֵּן֙ (and he set) אֶת־ (-) אֲדָנָ֔יו (its bases), וַיָּ֙שֶׂם֙ (and he put) אֶת־ (-) קְרָשָׁ֔יו (its boards), וַיִּתֵּ֖ן (and he set) אֶת־ (-) בְּרִיחָ֑יו (its bars), וַיָּ֖קֶם (and he raised up) אֶת־ (-) עַמּוּדָֽיו׃ (its pillars). 19 וַיִּפְרֹ֤שׂ (And he spread out) אֶת־ (-) הָאֹ֙הֶל֙ (the tent) עַל־ (over) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֔ן (the tabernacle), וַיָּ֜שֶׂם (and he put) אֶת־ (-) מִכְסֵ֥ה (the covering) הָאֹ֛הֶל (of the tent) עָלָ֖יו (on it) מִלְמָ֑עְלָה (from above), כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר (as) צִוָּ֥ה (had commanded) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) מֹשֶֽׁה׃ס (Moses).

20 וַיִּקַּ֞ח (And he took) וַיִּתֵּ֤ן (and he set) אֶת־ (-) הָעֵדֻת֙ (the Testimony) אֶל־ (into) הָ֣אָרֹ֔ן (the ark), וַיָּ֥שֶׂם (and he put) אֶת־ (-) הַבַּדִּ֖ים (the poles) עַל־ (on) הָאָרֹ֑ן (the ark), וַיִּתֵּ֧ן (and he set) אֶת־ (-) הַכַּפֹּ֛רֶת (the mercy seat) עַל־ (on) הָאָרֹ֖ן (the ark) מִלְמָֽעְלָה׃ (from above). 21 וַיָּבֵ֣א (And he brought) אֶת־ (-) הָאָרֹן֮ (the ark) אֶל־ (into) הַמִּשְׁכָּן֒ (the tabernacle), וַיָּ֗שֶׂם (and he put up) אֵ֚ת (-) פָּרֹ֣כֶת (the veil) הַמָּסָ֔ךְ (of the screen), וַיָּ֕סֶךְ (and he covered) עַ֖ל (over) אֲר֣וֹן (the ark) הָעֵד֑וּת (of the Testimony); כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר (as) צִוָּ֥ה (had commanded) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) מֹשֶֽׁה׃ס (Moses).

22 וַיִּתֵּ֤ן (And he set) אֶת־ (-) הַשֻּׁלְחָן֙ (the table) בְּאֹ֣הֶל (in the Tent) מוֹעֵ֔ד (of Meeting), עַ֛ל (on) יֶ֥רֶךְ (the side) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן (of the tabernacle) צָפֹ֑נָה (north), מִח֖וּץ (outside) לַפָּרֹֽכֶת׃ (the veil). 23 וַיַּעֲרֹ֥ךְ (And he arranged) עָלָ֛יו (on it) עֵ֥רֶךְ (an arrangement) לֶ֖חֶם (of bread) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face of) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH), כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר (as) צִוָּ֥ה (had commanded) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) מֹשֶֽׁה׃ס (Moses).

24 וַיָּ֤שֶׂם (And he put) אֶת־ (-) הַמְּנֹרָה֙ (the lampstand) בְּאֹ֣הֶל (in the Tent) מוֹעֵ֔ד (of Meeting), נֹ֖כַח (opposite) הַשֻּׁלְחָ֑ן (the table), עַ֛ל (on) יֶ֥רֶךְ (the side) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן (of the tabernacle) נֶֽגְבָּה׃ (south). 25 וַיַּ֥עַל (And he lit) הַנֵּרֹ֖ת (the lamps) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face of) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH), כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר (as) צִוָּ֥ה (had commanded) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) מֹשֶֽׁה׃ס (Moses).

26 וַיָּ֛שֶׂם (And he put) אֶת־ (-) מִזְבַּ֥ח (the altar) הַזָּהָ֖ב (gold) בְּאֹ֣הֶל (in the Tent) מוֹעֵ֑ד (of Meeting) לִפְנֵ֖י (before the face) הַפָּרֹֽכֶת׃ (of the veil). 27 וַיַּקְטֵ֥ר (And he burned) עָלָ֖יו (on it) קְטֹ֣רֶת (incense) סַמִּ֑ים (of spices), כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר (as) צִוָּ֥ה (had commanded) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) מֹשֶֽׁה׃פ (Moses). 28 וַיָּ֛שֶׂם (And he put up) אֶת־ (-) מָסַ֥ךְ (the screen) הַפֶּ֖תַח (of the door) לַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃ (for the tabernacle). 29 וְאֵת֙ (And) מִזְבַּ֣ח (the altar) הָעֹלָ֔ה (of the burnt offering) שָׂ֕ם (he put) פֶּ֖תַח (at the door) מִשְׁכַּ֣ן (of the tabernacle) אֹֽהֶל־ (of the Tent) מוֹעֵ֑ד (of Meeting), וַיַּ֣עַל (and he offered) עָלָ֗יו (upon it) אֶת־ (-) הָעֹלָה֙ (the burnt offering) וְאֶת־ (and) הַמִּנְחָ֔ה (the grain offering), כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר (as) צִוָּ֥ה (had commanded) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) מֹשֶֽׁה׃ס (Moses).

30 וַיָּ֙שֶׂם֙ (And he put) אֶת־ (-) הַכִּיֹּ֔ר (the basin) בֵּֽין־ (between) אֹ֥הֶל (the Tent) מוֹעֵ֖ד (of Meeting) וּבֵ֣ין (and between) הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ (the altar), וַיִּתֵּ֥ן (and he set) שָׁ֛מָּה (in it) מַ֖יִם (water) לְרָחְצָֽה׃ (for washing). 31 וְרָחֲצ֣וּ (And washed) מִמֶּ֔נּוּ (from it) מֹשֶׁ֖ה (Moses) וְאַהֲרֹ֣ן (and Aaron) וּבָנָ֑יו (and his sons) אֶת־ (-) יְדֵיהֶ֖ם (their hands) וְאֶת־ (and) רַגְלֵיהֶֽם׃ (their feet). 32 בְּבֹאָ֞ם (Whenever they went) אֶל־ (into) אֹ֣הֶל (the Tent) מוֹעֵ֗ד (of Meeting) וּבְקָרְבָתָ֛ם (and when they came near) אֶל־ (to) הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ (the altar), יִרְחָ֑צוּ (they washed), כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר (as) צִוָּ֥ה (had commanded) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) מֹשֶֽׁה׃ס (Moses).

33 וַיָּ֣קֶם (And he raised up) אֶת־ (-) הֶחָצֵ֗ר (the court) סָבִיב֙ (all around) לַמִּשְׁכָּ֣ן (the tabernacle) וְלַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ (and the altar), וַיִּתֵּ֕ן (and he set up) אֶת־ (-) מָסַ֖ךְ (the screen) שַׁ֣עַר (of the gate) הֶחָצֵ֑ר (of the court). וַיְכַ֥ל (And finished) מֹשֶׁ֖ה (Moses) אֶת־ (-) הַמְּלָאכָֽה׃פ (the work).

The Cloud and the Glory
(Numbers 9:15–23)

34 וַיְכַ֥ס (And covered) הֶעָנָ֖ן (the cloud) אֶת־ (-) אֹ֣הֶל (the Tent) מוֹעֵ֑ד (of Meeting), וּכְב֣וֹד (and the glory) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH) מָלֵ֖א (filled) אֶת־ (-) הַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃ (the tabernacle). 35 וְלֹא־ (And not) יָכֹ֣ל (was able) מֹשֶׁ֗ה (Moses) לָבוֹא֙ (to enter) אֶל־ (into) אֹ֣הֶל (the Tent) מוֹעֵ֔ד (of Meeting), כִּֽי־ (because) שָׁכַ֥ן (dwelt) עָלָ֖יו (on it) הֶעָנָ֑ן (the cloud), וּכְב֣וֹד (and the glory) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH) מָלֵ֖א (filled) אֶת־ (-) הַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃ (the tabernacle).

36 וּבְהֵעָל֤וֹת (And whenever was taken up) הֶֽעָנָן֙ (the cloud) מֵעַ֣ל (from on) הַמִּשְׁכָּ֔ן (the tabernacle), יִסְע֖וּ (would set out) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel) בְּכֹ֖ל (in all) מַסְעֵיהֶֽם׃ (their journeys); 37 וְאִם־ (and if) לֹ֥א (not) יֵעָלֶ֖ה (was taken up) הֶעָנָ֑ן (the cloud), וְלֹ֣א (and not) יִסְע֔וּ (they did set out) עַד־ (until) י֖וֹם (the day) הֵעָלֹתֽוֹ׃ (that it was taken up). 38 כִּי֩ (For) עֲנַ֨ן (the cloud) יְהוָ֤ה (of YHWH) עַֽל־ (was on) הַמִּשְׁכָּן֙ (the tabernacle) יוֹמָ֔ם (by day), וְאֵ֕שׁ (and fire) תִּהְיֶ֥ה (was) לַ֖יְלָה (by night) בּ֑וֹ (in it), לְעֵינֵ֥י (in the eyes) כָל־ (of all) בֵּֽית־ (the house) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (of Israel), בְּכָל־ (throughout all) מַסְעֵיהֶֽם׃ (their journeys).
