Romans 15
Literal Emphasis Translation Par ▾
Now we who are able (strong, powerfully able), to take up (bear, carry) the weaknesses (no strength) of the unable (weak, not powerfully able) and not to please (satisfy, to win someone’s favor because of meeting their expectation) ourselves. 2Let each of us please (satisfy) his neighbor (one nearby) unto intrinsic good, for building him up. 3For even Christ pleased (satisfied) not Himself, but rather, as it has been written, “The reproaches (insults aimed to damage/disgrace reputation, undeserved condemnation) of those reproaching you have fallen upon me.” 4For whatever was written before was written for all our teaching (applied teaching, teaching for necessary lifestyle application), that through endurance and through the entreaty (to call with urging, exhortation, encouragement) of the Scriptures, we might have hope (expectation of what is sure/certain). 5Now may the God of endurance and entreaty give you the same mind (understanding, the diaphragm, that which regulates inner perspective that shows in outward behavior) among one another, according to Christ Jesus, 6That with one accord (the same passion), with one mouth, you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, receive (take in addition, take to yourself, aggressively welcome with strong personal interest/initiative) one another as Christ also received you unto the glory of God.

For I say that Christ has become a minister (servant, deacon, administrator) of the circumcision for the sake of the truth of God, in order (unto) to confirm (ratify, secure, guarantee) the promises given to the fathers,

And that the ethnicities should glorify God for mercy, as it has been written, “Because of this I will confess (wholly agree) You among (unto) the ethnicities and I will make music (sing with plucking instruments) to Your name.”

And again he says, “Rejoice (have a merry/cheering outlook because of a sense of inner triumph), you ethnicities, with His people.”

And again, “Praise the Lord, all the ethnicities, and let all the peoples fittingly praise (praise on, fitting, praise on in a fitting/apt manner) Him.”

And again, Isaiah says, “There will be a root of Jesse, and the One rising up to rule over ethnicities; upon Him the ethnicities will hope.”

Now may the God of hope make you full (be full, fill to capacity, complete) with all joy and peace in believing, for you to abound in the hope, in the power (might, miraculous power, ability to perform) of the Holy Spirit.

And I myself am also persuaded (confident) concerning you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of intrinsic goodness, being made full with all (every kind of) knowing (to experientially know by direct relationship), also being able to admonish (to place the mind, reasoning by warning) one another. 15But I have written from some share (in part) to you more boldly, as aptly reminding you again, because of the grace having been given to me by God, 16For me to be a public minister of Jesus Christ to the ethnicities, administering in sacred service (work of the Temple/priest) the gospel of God that the offering up of the ethnicities may become acceptable, having been sanctified (set apart holy) in (by) the Holy Spirit. 17Therefore, I have my boasting in Christ Jesus as to the things pertaining to (toward) God. 18For I will not dare to speak anything of what Christ did not work out through me for the compliance (to hear beneath) of the ethnicities by word and deed, 19in power of signs and wonders, in power of the Spirit of God; so that I, from Jerusalem, and in a circle around unto Illyricum, I have fully preached (completed preaching) the gospel of Christ. 20And so strongly valuing (to show affection/friendly love for what is personally valued, loving what has great personal value) to preach the gospel where Christ has not been named, that I might not build (build a house) upon another’s foundation;

But as it has been written, “”To whom it was not declared (completing the process of declaring) concerning Him, they will perceive (look upon, experience, see with the mind-spiritually see) and those that have not heard, will put it together (put together with, synthesize, join facts into a comprehensive whole).”

Therefore also I have been hindered many times from coming to you.

But now having no longer a place in these regions (territories) and having had an eager longing to come to you for sufficient years, 24Pending whenever I may go to Spain (Spanian in Greek), I expect (hope for) to see (look upon, gaze on as a spectator) you as I go through; and by you be sent forth (be set forward, accompanied) there, if first I should be filled up in part (from some share) by you. 25But now I go to Jerusalem, ministering to the saints. 26For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a certain contribution unto the destitute (beggarly, poor) of the saints in Jerusalem. 27For they were well-pleased and they are their debtors, for if the ethnicities have shared in their spiritual things, they ought also in fleshly (physical, material) things minister (publically serve, minister in an official capacity for the community) to them. 28Therefore having completed this and having sealed to them this fruit, I will set off (go away from, depart) by you into Spain. 29And I perceive that coming to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.

Now I entreat you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive (fight, agonize, struggle) together with me in prayers for me towards God, 31That I might be rescued (draw/pull/snatch out to oneself) from those refusing to be persuaded in Judea, and my ministry which is in Jerusalem may be acceptable (well-received) to the saints; 32That in joy I may come to you by the will of God and be refreshed (rest along with, pause completely with) with you. 33And the God of peace be with all of you. Amen.
