New Stone Tablets
(Deuteronomy 10:1–11)

1  וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (And said) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (Moses), פְּסָל־ (Cut) לְךָ֛ (for yourself) שְׁנֵֽי־ (two) לֻחֹ֥ת (tablets) אֲבָנִ֖ים (of stone) כָּרִאשֹׁנִ֑ים (like the first ones), וְכָתַבְתִּי֙ (and I will write) עַל־ (on) הַלֻּחֹ֔ת (the tablets) אֶת־ (-) הַדְּבָרִ֔ים (the words) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) הָי֛וּ (were) עַל־ (on) הַלֻּחֹ֥ת (the tablets) הָרִאשֹׁנִ֖ים (the first), אֲשֶׁ֥ר (which) שִׁבַּֽרְתָּ׃ (you shattered). 2  וֶהְיֵ֥ה (And be) נָכ֖וֹן (ready) לַבֹּ֑קֶר (for the morning), וְעָלִ֤יתָ (and you shall come up) בַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ (in the morning) אֶל־ (to) הַ֣ר (Mount) סִינַ֔י (Sinai), וְנִצַּבְתָּ֥ (and present yourself) לִ֛י (to Me) שָׁ֖ם (there) עַל־ (on) רֹ֥אשׁ (the top) הָהָֽר׃ (of the mountain). 3  וְאִישׁ֙ (And man) לֹֽא־ (not) יַעֲלֶ֣ה (shall come up) עִמָּ֔ךְ (with you), וְגַם־ (and also) אִ֥ישׁ (man) אַל־ (not) יֵרָ֖א (let be seen) בְּכָל־ (throughout all) הָהָ֑ר (the mountain), גַּם־ (also) הַצֹּ֤אן (the flock) וְהַבָּקָר֙ (and the herd) אַל־ (not) יִרְע֔וּ (shall pasture) אֶל־ (toward) מ֖וּל (the front) הָהָ֥ר (of the mountain) הַהֽוּא׃ (that).

4  וַיִּפְסֹ֡ל (And he cut) שְׁנֵֽי־ (two) לֻחֹ֨ת (tablets) אֲבָנִ֜ים (of stone) כָּרִאשֹׁנִ֗ים (like the first ones); וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֨ם (and rose early) מֹשֶׁ֤ה (Moses) בַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ (in the morning) וַיַּ֙עַל֙ (and he went up) אֶל־ (to) הַ֣ר (Mount) סִינַ֔י (Sinai), כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר (as) צִוָּ֥ה (had commanded) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֹת֑וֹ (him), וַיִּקַּ֣ח (and he took) בְּיָד֔וֹ (in his hand) שְׁנֵ֖י (the two) לֻחֹ֥ת (tablets) אֲבָנִֽים׃ (of stone).

5  וַיֵּ֤רֶד (And descended) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) בֶּֽעָנָ֔ן (in the cloud) וַיִּתְיַצֵּ֥ב (and stood) עִמּ֖וֹ (with him) שָׁ֑ם (there) וַיִּקְרָ֥א (and proclaimed) בְשֵׁ֖ם (in His name), יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH). 6  וַיַּעֲבֹ֨ר (And passed) יְהוָ֥ה׀ (YHWH) עַל־ (before) פָּנָיו֮ (his face) וַיִּקְרָא֒ (and proclaimed),

יְהוָ֣ה׀ (YHWH), יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH) אֵ֥ל (God),

רַח֖וּם (merciful) וְחַנּ֑וּן (and gracious),

אֶ֥רֶךְ (slow) אַפַּ֖יִם (to anger),

וְרַב־ (and abounding) חֶ֥סֶד (in loving devotion) וֶאֱמֶֽת׀ (and truth),

7  נֹצֵ֥ר (keeping) חֶ֙סֶד֙ (loving devotion) לָאֲלָפִ֔ים (to the thousands),

נֹשֵׂ֥א (forgiving) עָוֺ֛ן (iniquity) וָפֶ֖שַׁע (and transgression) וְחַטָּאָ֑ה (and sin), וְנַקֵּה֙ (and acquitting)

לֹ֣א (not) יְנַקֶּ֔ה (he shall acquit the guilty),

פֹּקֵ֣ד׀ (visiting) עֲוֺ֣ן (iniquity) אָב֗וֹת (of fathers)

עַל־ (upon) בָּנִים֙ (sons), וְעַל־ (and upon) בְּנֵ֣י (sons) בָנִ֔ים (of sons),

עַל־ (upon) שִׁלֵּשִׁ֖ים (a third) וְעַל־ (and upon) רִבֵּעִֽים׃ (a fourth).

8  וַיְמַהֵ֖ר (And hurried) מֹשֶׁ֑ה (Moses), וַיִּקֹּ֥ד (and bowed down) אַ֖רְצָה (to the earth), וַיִּשְׁתָּֽחוּ׃ (and worshiped). 9  וַיֹּ֡אמֶר (And he said), אִם־ (If) נָא֩ (please) מָצָ֨אתִי (I have found) חֵ֤ן (favor) בְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ (in Your eyes), אֲדֹנָ֔י (O Lord), יֵֽלֶךְ־ (go) נָ֥א (please), אֲדֹנָ֖י (my Lord) בְּקִרְבֵּ֑נוּ (among us), כִּ֤י (for) עַם־ (a people) קְשֵׁה־ (stiff) עֹ֙רֶף֙ (necked) ה֔וּא (it is), וְסָלַחְתָּ֛ (and You shall pardon) לַעֲוֺנֵ֥נוּ (our iniquity) וּלְחַטָּאתֵ֖נוּ (and our sin), וּנְחַלְתָּֽנוּ׃ (and take us as Your inheritance).

Yahweh Renews the Covenant
(2 Corinthians 3:7–18)

10  וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (And He said), הִנֵּ֣ה (Behold), אָנֹכִי֮ (I) כֹּרֵ֣ת (am cutting) בְּרִית֒ (a covenant) נֶ֤גֶד (before) כָּֽל־ (all) עַמְּךָ֙ (your people). אֶעֱשֶׂ֣ה (I will do) נִפְלָאֹ֔ת (marvels), אֲשֶׁ֛ר (that) לֹֽא־ (not) נִבְרְא֥וּ (have been created) בְכָל־ (in all) הָאָ֖רֶץ (the earth), וּבְכָל־ (and in all) הַגּוֹיִ֑ם (the nations). וְרָאָ֣ה (And shall see) כָל־ (all) הָ֠עָם (the people) אֲשֶׁר־ (of who) אַתָּ֨ה (you) בְקִרְבּ֜וֹ (are among) אֶת־ (-) מַעֲשֵׂ֤ה (the work) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH), כִּֽי־ (for) נוֹרָ֣א (an awesome thing) ה֔וּא (it is) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) אֲנִ֖י (I) עֹשֶׂ֥ה (am doing) עִמָּֽךְ׃ (with you).

11  שְׁמָ֨ר־ (Keep) לְךָ֔ (for yourself) אֵ֛ת (-) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (what) אָנֹכִ֖י (I) מְצַוְּךָ֣ (am commanding you) הַיּ֑וֹם (this day). הִנְנִ֧י (Behold), גֹרֵ֣שׁ (I am driving out) מִפָּנֶ֗יךָ (from before your face) אֶת־ (-) הָאֱמֹרִי֙ (the Amorite), וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י (and the Canaanite), וְהַחִתִּי֙ (and the Hittite), וְהַפְּרִזִּ֔י (and the Perizzite), וְהַחִוִּ֖י (and the Hivite), וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃ (and the Jebusite). 12  הִשָּׁ֣מֶר (Guard) לְךָ֗ (for yourself), פֶּן־ (lest) תִּכְרֹ֤ת (you make) בְּרִית֙ (a covenant) לְיוֹשֵׁ֣ב (with the dwellers) הָאָ֔רֶץ (of the land) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (where) אַתָּ֖ה (you) בָּ֣א (are entering) עָלֶ֑יהָ (-), פֶּן־ (lest) יִהְיֶ֥ה (it become) לְמוֹקֵ֖שׁ (a snare) בְּקִרְבֶּֽךָ׃ (in your midst). 13  כִּ֤י (But) אֶת־ (-) מִזְבְּחֹתָם֙ (their altars) תִּתֹּצ֔וּן (you⁺ shall break down), וְאֶת־ (and) מַצֵּבֹתָ֖ם (their pillars) תְּשַׁבֵּר֑וּן (you⁺ shall smash), וְאֶת־ (and) אֲשֵׁרָ֖יו (their Asherah poles) תִּכְרֹתֽוּן׃ (you⁺ shall cut down). 14  כִּ֛י (For) לֹ֥א (not) תִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֖ה (you shall worship) לְאֵ֣ל (god) אַחֵ֑ר (other), כִּ֤י (for) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH), קַנָּ֣א (Jealous) שְׁמ֔וֹ (is his name), אֵ֥ל (God) קַנָּ֖א (a jealous) הֽוּא׃ (is).

15  פֶּן־ (Lest) תִּכְרֹ֥ת (you cut) בְּרִ֖ית (a covenant) לְיוֹשֵׁ֣ב (with the dwellers) הָאָ֑רֶץ (of the land) וְזָנ֣וּ׀ (and they play the prostitute) אַחֲרֵ֣י (with) אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֗ם (their gods), וְזָבְחוּ֙ (and they make sacrifice) לֵאלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ם (to their gods), וְקָרָ֣א (and he calls) לְךָ֔ (to you), וְאָכַלְתָּ֖ (and you eat) מִזִּבְחֽוֹ׃ (from his sacrifice), 16  וְלָקַחְתָּ֥ (and you take) מִבְּנֹתָ֖יו (from his daughters) לְבָנֶ֑יךָ (for your sons), וְזָנ֣וּ (and play the prostitute) בְנֹתָ֗יו (his daughters) אַחֲרֵי֙ (with) אֱלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ן (their gods), וְהִזְנוּ֙ (and play the prostitute) אֶת־ (they make) בָּנֶ֔יךָ (your sons) אַחֲרֵ֖י (with) אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽן׃ (their gods).

17  אֱלֹהֵ֥י (Gods) מַסֵּכָ֖ה (molten) לֹ֥א (not) תַעֲשֶׂה־ (you shall make) לָּֽךְ׃ (for yourselves).

18  אֶת־ (-) חַ֣ג (The feast) הַמַּצּוֹת֮ (of the Unleavened) תִּשְׁמֹר֒ (you shall keep). שִׁבְעַ֨ת (Seven) יָמִ֜ים (days) תֹּאכַ֤ל (you shall eat) מַצּוֹת֙ (unleavened bread), אֲשֶׁ֣ר (as) צִוִּיתִ֔ךָ (I commanded you) לְמוֹעֵ֖ד (in the appointed time) חֹ֣דֶשׁ (of the month) הָאָבִ֑יב (of Abib), כִּ֚י (for) בְּחֹ֣דֶשׁ (in the month) הָֽאָבִ֔יב (of Abib) יָצָ֖אתָ (you came out) מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ (from Egypt).

19  כָּל־ (All) פֶּ֥טֶר (that open) רֶ֖חֶם (the womb) לִ֑י (belong to Me), וְכָֽל־ (and every) מִקְנְךָ֙ (of your livestock) תִּזָּכָ֔ר (born a male) פֶּ֖טֶר (firstborn), שׁ֥וֹר (whether ox) וָשֶֽׂה׃ (or sheep). 20  וּפֶ֤טֶר (And the firstborn) חֲמוֹר֙ (of a donkey) תִּפְדֶּ֣ה (you shall redeem) בְשֶׂ֔ה (with a lamb); וְאִם־ (and if) לֹ֥א (not) תִפְדֶּ֖ה (you redeem it), וַעֲרַפְתּ֑וֹ (and you shall break his neck). כֹּ֣ל (All) בְּכ֤וֹר (the firstborn) בָּנֶ֙יךָ֙ (of your sons) תִּפְדֶּ֔ה (you shall redeem). וְלֹֽא־ (And none) יֵרָא֥וּ (shall appear) פָנַ֖י (before My face) רֵיקָֽם׃ (empty).

21  שֵׁ֤שֶׁת (Six) יָמִים֙ (days) תַּעֲבֹ֔ד (you shall work), וּבַיּ֥וֹם (and on the day) הַשְּׁבִיעִ֖י (the seventh) תִּשְׁבֹּ֑ת (you shall rest); בֶּחָרִ֥ישׁ (in the plowing time) וּבַקָּצִ֖יר (and in the harvest) תִּשְׁבֹּֽת׃ (you shall rest).

22  וְחַ֤ג (And the Feast) שָׁבֻעֹת֙ (of Weeks), תַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה (shall observe) לְךָ֔ (you) בִּכּוּרֵ֖י (with the firstfruits) קְצִ֣יר (of harvest) חִטִּ֑ים (wheat), וְחַג֙ (and the Feast) הָֽאָסִ֔יף (of the Ingathering) תְּקוּפַ֖ת (at the end) הַשָּׁנָֽה׃ (of the year). 23  שָׁלֹ֥שׁ (Three) פְּעָמִ֖ים (times) בַּשָּׁנָ֑ה (in the year) יֵרָאֶה֙ (shall appear) כָּל־ (all) זְכ֣וּרְךָ֔ (your males) אֶת־ (-) פְּנֵ֛י (before the face of) הָֽאָדֹ֥ן׀ (the Lord) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH), אֱלֹהֵ֥י (God) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel). 24  כִּֽי־ (For) אוֹרִ֤ישׁ (I will cast out) גּוֹיִם֙ (the nations) מִפָּנֶ֔יךָ (before your face) וְהִרְחַבְתִּ֖י (and enlarge) אֶת־ (-) גְּבוּלֶ֑ךָ (your border); וְלֹא־ (and no) יַחְמֹ֥ד (will covet) אִישׁ֙ (man) אֶֽת־ (-) אַרְצְךָ֔ (your land), בַּעֲלֹֽתְךָ֗ (when you go up) לֵרָאוֹת֙ (to appear) אֶת־ (-) פְּנֵי֙ (before the face of) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ (your God) שָׁלֹ֥שׁ (three) פְּעָמִ֖ים (times) בַּשָּׁנָֽה׃ (in the year).

25  לֹֽא־ (Not) תִשְׁחַ֥ט (you shall slaughter) עַל־ (with) חָמֵ֖ץ (leaven) דַּם־ (the blood) זִבְחִ֑י (of My sacrifice), וְלֹא־ (and not) יָלִ֣ין (shall remain) לַבֹּ֔קֶר (until the morning) זֶ֖בַח (the sacrifice) חַ֥ג (of the Feast) הַפָּֽסַח׃ (of the Passover).

26  רֵאשִׁ֗ית (The first) בִּכּוּרֵי֙ (of the firstfruits) אַדְמָ֣תְךָ֔ (of your ground) תָּבִ֕יא (you shall bring to) בֵּ֖ית (the house) יְהוָ֣ה (of YHWH) אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ (your God).

לֹא־ (Not) תְבַשֵּׁ֥ל (you shall boil) גְּדִ֖י (a young goat) בַּחֲלֵ֥ב (in the milk) אִמּֽוֹ׃פ (of its mother).

27  וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (And said) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (Moses), כְּתָב־ (Write) לְךָ֖ (for yourself) אֶת־ (-) הַדְּבָרִ֣ים (the words), הָאֵ֑לֶּה (these), כִּ֞י (for) עַל־ (upon) פִּ֣י׀ (the mouth) הַדְּבָרִ֣ים (of the words) הָאֵ֗לֶּה (these) כָּרַ֧תִּי (I have cut) אִתְּךָ֛ (with you) בְּרִ֖ית (a covenant), וְאֶת־ (and with) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (Israel).

28  וַֽיְהִי־ (And he was) שָׁ֣ם (there) עִם־ (with) יְהוָ֗ה (YHWH) אַרְבָּעִ֥ים (forty) יוֹם֙ (days) וְאַרְבָּעִ֣ים (and forty) לַ֔יְלָה (nights); לֶ֚חֶם (bread) לֹ֣א (not) אָכַ֔ל (he ate), וּמַ֖יִם (and water) לֹ֣א (not) שָׁתָ֑ה (drank). וַיִּכְתֹּ֣ב (And He wrote) עַל־ (on) הַלֻּחֹ֗ת (the tablets) אֵ֚ת (-) דִּבְרֵ֣י (the words) הַבְּרִ֔ית (of the covenant), עֲשֶׂ֖רֶת (Ten) הַדְּבָרִֽים׃ (the Words).

29  וַיְהִ֗י (And it came to pass), בְּרֶ֤דֶת (when came down) מֹשֶׁה֙ (Moses) מֵהַ֣ר (from Mount) סִינַ֔י (Sinai), וּשְׁנֵ֨י (and two) לֻחֹ֤ת (the tablets) הָֽעֵדֻת֙ (of the Testimony were) בְּיַד־ (in the hand) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (of Moses) בְּרִדְתּ֖וֹ (when he came down) מִן־ (from) הָהָ֑ר (the mountain), וּמֹשֶׁ֣ה (and Moses) לֹֽא־ (not) יָדַ֗ע (did know) כִּ֥י (that) קָרַ֛ן (shone) ע֥וֹר (the skin) פָּנָ֖יו (of his face) בְּדַבְּר֥וֹ (in his speaking) אִתּֽוֹ׃ (with Him). 30  וַיַּ֨רְא (And saw) אַהֲרֹ֜ן (Aaron) וְכָל־ (and all) בְּנֵ֤י (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ (of Israel) אֶת־ (-) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (Moses), וְהִנֵּ֥ה (and behold), קָרַ֖ן (shone) ע֣וֹר (the skin) פָּנָ֑יו (of his face), וַיִּֽירְא֖וּ (and they were afraid) מִגֶּ֥שֶׁת (to come near) אֵלָֽיו׃ (to him).

31  וַיִּקְרָ֤א (And called) אֲלֵהֶם֙ (to them) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (Moses), וַיָּשֻׁ֧בוּ (and returned) אֵלָ֛יו (to him) אַהֲרֹ֥ן (Aaron) וְכָל־ (and all) הַנְּשִׂאִ֖ים (the rulers) בָּעֵדָ֑ה (in the congregation), וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (and spoke) מֹשֶׁ֖ה (Moses) אֲלֵהֶֽם׃ (to them). 32  וְאַחֲרֵי־ (And) כֵ֥ן (afterward) נִגְּשׁ֖וּ (came near) כָּל־ (all) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel); וַיְצַוֵּ֕ם (and he commanded them) אֵת֩ (-) כָּל־ (all) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) דִּבֶּ֧ר (had spoken) יְהוָ֛ה (YHWH) אִתּ֖וֹ (with him) בְּהַ֥ר (on Mount) סִינָֽי׃ (Sinai).

33  וַיְכַ֣ל (And finished) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (Moses) מִדַּבֵּ֖ר (from speaking) אִתָּ֑ם (with them), וַיִּתֵּ֥ן (and he put) עַל־ (on) פָּנָ֖יו (his face) מַסְוֶֽה׃ (a veil). 34  וּבְבֹ֨א (And whenever went in) מֹשֶׁ֜ה (Moses) לִפְנֵ֤י (before the face of) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) לְדַבֵּ֣ר (to speak) אִתּ֔וֹ (with Him), יָסִ֥יר (he would take off) אֶת־ (-) הַמַּסְוֶ֖ה (the veil) עַד־ (until) צֵאת֑וֹ (his coming out). וְיָצָ֗א (And he has come out) וְדִבֶּר֙ (and has spoken) אֶל־ (to) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel) אֵ֖ת (-) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (whatever) יְצֻוֶּֽה׃ (he had been commanded). 35  וְרָא֤וּ (And whenever saw) בְנֵֽי־ (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ (of Israel) אֶת־ (-) פְּנֵ֣י (the face) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (of Moses), כִּ֣י (that) קָרַ֔ן (shone). ע֖וֹר (The skin) פְּנֵ֣י (of face) מֹשֶׁ֑ה (Moses’); וְהֵשִׁ֨יב (and would return) מֹשֶׁ֤ה (Moses) אֶת־ (-) הַמַּסְוֶה֙ (the veil) עַל־ (on) פָּנָ֔יו (his face) עַד־ (until) בֹּא֖וֹ (he went in) לְדַבֵּ֥ר (to speak) אִתּֽוֹ׃ס (with Him).
