Korah’s Rebellion

1  וַיִּקַּ֣ח (And took) קֹ֔רַח (Korah) בֶּן־ (son) יִצְהָ֥ר (of Izhar) בֶּן־ (son) קְהָ֖ת (of Kohath) בֶּן־ (son) לֵוִ֑י (of Levi)) וְדָתָ֨ן (and both Dathan) וַאֲבִירָ֜ם (and Abiram), בְּנֵ֧י (the sons) אֱלִיאָ֛ב (of Eliab), וְא֥וֹן (and On) בֶּן־ (son) פֶּ֖לֶת (of Peleth)— בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) רְאוּבֵֽן׃ (of Reuben), 2  וַיָּקֻ֙מוּ֙ (and they rose up) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face of) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (Moses) וַאֲנָשִׁ֥ים (and with men) מִבְּנֵֽי־ (from the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (of Israel), חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים (fifty) וּמָאתָ֑יִם (and two hundred) נְשִׂיאֵ֥י (leaders) עֵדָ֛ה (of the congregation), קְרִאֵ֥י (called ones) מוֹעֵ֖ד (of the appointed meeting), אַנְשֵׁי־ (men) שֵֽׁם׃ (of renown). 3  וַיִּֽקָּהֲל֞וּ (And they gathered together) עַל־ (against) מֹשֶׁ֣ה (Moses) וְעַֽל־ (and) אַהֲרֹ֗ן (Aaron) וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ (and said) אֲלֵהֶם֮ (to them), רַב־ (It is too much) לָכֶם֒ (upon yourselves)! כִּ֤י (For) כָל־ (all) הָֽעֵדָה֙ (the congregation), כֻּלָּ֣ם (everyone of them), קְדֹשִׁ֔ים (is holy), וּבְתוֹכָ֖ם (and in their midst) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH is). וּמַדּ֥וּעַ (And why) תִּֽתְנַשְּׂא֖וּ (do you⁺ exalt yourselves) עַל־ (above) קְהַ֥ל (the assembly) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH)?

4  וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע (And heard it) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (Moses), וַיִּפֹּ֖ל (and he fell) עַל־ (on) פָּנָֽיו׃ (his face). 5  וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר (And he spoke) אֶל־ (to) קֹ֜רַח (Korah) וְאֶֽל־ (and to) כָּל־ (all) עֲדָתוֹ֮ (his company), לֵאמֹר֒ (saying), בֹּ֠קֶר (In the morning) וְיֹדַ֨ע (and will show) יְהוָ֧ה (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) אֲשֶׁר־ (who is) ל֛וֹ (unto Him) וְאֶת־ (and) הַקָּד֖וֹשׁ (who is holy), וְהִקְרִ֣יב (and He will bring him near) אֵלָ֑יו (to Himself). וְאֵ֛ת (And) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that one whom) יִבְחַר־ (He chooses) בּ֖וֹ (-) יַקְרִ֥יב (He will bring near) אֵלָֽיו׃ (to Himself). 6  זֹ֖את (This) עֲשׂ֑וּ (do): קְחוּ־ (Take) לָכֶ֣ם (to you⁺) מַחְתּ֔וֹת (firepans), קֹ֖רַח (Korah) וְכָל־ (and all) עֲדָתֽוֹ׃ (your company), 7  וּתְנ֣וּ (and put) בָהֵ֣ן׀ (in them) אֵ֡שׁ (fire) וְשִׂימוּ֩ (and put) עֲלֵיהֶ֨ן (in them) קְטֹ֜רֶת (incense) לִפְנֵ֤י (before the face of) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) מָחָ֔ר (tomorrow). וְהָיָ֗ה (And it shall be) הָאִ֛ישׁ (that the man) אֲשֶׁר־ (whom) יִבְחַ֥ר (chooses) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) ה֣וּא (is) הַקָּד֑וֹשׁ (the holy one). רַב־ (You take too much) לָכֶ֖ם (upon yourselves) בְּנֵ֥י (you sons) לֵוִֽי׃ (of Levi)!

8  וַיֹּ֥אמֶר (And said) מֹשֶׁ֖ה (Moses) אֶל־ (to) קֹ֑רַח (Korah), שִׁמְעוּ־ (Hear) נָ֖א (now), בְּנֵ֥י (sons) לֵוִֽי׃ (of Levi), 9  הַמְעַ֣ט (is it a small thing) מִכֶּ֗ם (to you⁺) כִּֽי־ (that) הִבְדִּיל֩ (has separated) אֱלֹהֵ֨י (the God) יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל (of Israel) אֶתְכֶם֙ (you⁺) מֵעֲדַ֣ת (from the congregation) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel), לְהַקְרִ֥יב (to bring near) אֶתְכֶ֖ם (you⁺) אֵלָ֑יו (to Himself) לַעֲבֹ֗ד (to do) אֶת־ (-) עֲבֹדַת֙ (the work) מִשְׁכַּ֣ן (of the tabernacle) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH) וְלַעֲמֹ֛ד (and to stand) לִפְנֵ֥י (before the face of) הָעֵדָ֖ה (the congregation) לְשָׁרְתָֽם׃ (to serve them). 10  וַיַּקְרֵב֙ (And He has brought near to Himself) אֹֽתְךָ֔ (you) וְאֶת־ (and) כָּל־ (all) אַחֶ֥יךָ (your brothers) בְנֵי־ (the sons) לֵוִ֖י (of Levi) אִתָּ֑ךְ (with you)— וּבִקַּשְׁתֶּ֖ם (and you⁺ are seeking) גַּם־ (also) כְּהֻנָּֽה׃ (the priesthood). 11  לָכֵ֗ן (Therefore) אַתָּה֙ (you) וְכָל־ (and all) עֲדָ֣תְךָ֔ (your company) הַנֹּעָדִ֖ים (are gathered together) עַל־ (against) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH)! וְאַהֲרֹ֣ן (And Aaron), מַה־ (what) ה֔וּא (is he) כִּ֥י (that) תִלּוֹנוּ (you⁺ complain) עָלָֽיו׃ (against him)?

12  וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח (And sent) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (Moses) לִקְרֹ֛א (to call) לְדָתָ֥ן (Dathan) וְלַאֲבִירָ֖ם (and Abiram), בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) אֱלִיאָ֑ב (of Eliab). וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ (And they said), לֹ֥א (Not) נַעֲלֶֽה׃ (we will come up)! 13  הַמְעַ֗ט (Is it a small thing) כִּ֤י (that) הֶֽעֱלִיתָ֙נוּ֙ (you have brought us up) מֵאֶ֨רֶץ (out of a land) זָבַ֤ת (flowing with) חָלָב֙ (milk) וּדְבַ֔שׁ (and honey), לַהֲמִיתֵ֖נוּ (to kill us) בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר (in the wilderness), כִּֽי־ (that) תִשְׂתָּרֵ֥ר (you should keep acting) עָלֵ֖ינוּ (over us) גַּם־ (also) הִשְׂתָּרֵֽר׃ (a prince)? 14  אַ֡ף (Moreover) לֹ֣א (not) אֶל־ (into) אֶרֶץ֩ (a land) זָבַ֨ת (flowing with) חָלָ֤ב (milk) וּדְבַשׁ֙ (and honey) הֲבִ֣יאֹתָ֔נוּ (you have brought us), וַתִּ֨תֶּן־ (and not given) לָ֔נוּ (to us) נַחֲלַ֖ת (am inheritance) שָׂדֶ֣ה (of fields) וָכָ֑רֶם (and vineyards). הַעֵינֵ֞י (Will eyes) הָאֲנָשִׁ֥ים (of the men) הָהֵ֛ם (those) תְּנַקֵּ֖ר (you put out)? לֹ֥א (Not) נַעֲלֶֽה׃ (we will come up).

15  וַיִּ֤חַר (And was hot) לְמֹשֶׁה֙ (Moses) מְאֹ֔ד (very), וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (and he said) אֶל־ (to) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH), אַל־ (Not) תֵּ֖פֶן (do turn) אֶל־ (to) מִנְחָתָ֑ם (their offerings). לֹ֠א (Not) חֲמ֨וֹר (donkey) אֶחָ֤ד (one) מֵהֶם֙ (from them) נָשָׂ֔אתִי (I have taken), וְלֹ֥א (and not) הֲרֵעֹ֖תִי (have I hurt) אֶת־ (-) אַחַ֥ד (one) מֵהֶֽם׃ (of them).

16  וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (And said) מֹשֶׁה֙ (Moses) אֶל־ (to) קֹ֔רַח (Korah), אַתָּה֙ (You) וְכָל־ (and all) עֲדָ֣תְךָ֔ (your company) הֱי֖וּ (be present) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face of) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH), אַתָּ֥ה (you) וָהֵ֛ם (and they) וְאַהֲרֹ֖ן (and Aaron) מָחָֽר׃ (tomorrow), 17  וּקְח֣וּ׀ (and let take) אִ֣ישׁ (each) מַחְתָּת֗וֹ (his firepan) וּנְתַתֶּ֤ם (and put) עֲלֵיהֶם֙ (in it) קְטֹ֔רֶת (incense), וְהִקְרַבְתֶּ֞ם (and bring) לִפְנֵ֤י (before the face of) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) אִ֣ישׁ (each of you) מַחְתָּת֔וֹ (his firepan), חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים (fifty) וּמָאתַ֖יִם (and two hundred) מַחְתֹּ֑ת (firepans)— וְאַתָּ֥ה (and you) וְאַהֲרֹ֖ן (and Aaron), אִ֥ישׁ (each) מַחְתָּתֽוֹ׃ (with his firepan).

18  וַיִּקְח֞וּ (And took) אִ֣ישׁ (every man) מַחְתָּת֗וֹ (his firepan) וַיִּתְּנ֤וּ (and put) עֲלֵיהֶם֙ (in it) אֵ֔שׁ (fire), וַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּ (and laid) עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם (on it) קְטֹ֑רֶת (incense), וַֽיַּעַמְד֗וּ (and stood) פֶּ֛תַח (at the door) אֹ֥הֶל (of the Tent) מוֹעֵ֖ד (of Meeting) וּמֹשֶׁ֥ה (and with Moses) וְאַהֲרֹֽן׃ (and Aaron). 19  וַיַּקְהֵ֨ל (And gathered) עֲלֵיהֶ֥ם (against them) קֹ֙רַח֙ (Korah) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה (the assembly) אֶל־ (at) פֶּ֖תַח (the door) אֹ֣הֶל (of the Tent) מוֹעֵ֑ד (of Meeting). וַיֵּרָ֥א (And appeared) כְבוֹד־ (the glory) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) אֶל־ (to) כָּל־ (all) הָעֵדָֽה׃פ (the congregation).

20  וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses) וְאֶֽל־ (and) אַהֲרֹ֖ן (Aaron), לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 21  הִבָּ֣דְל֔וּ (Separate yourselves) מִתּ֖וֹךְ (from the midst) הָעֵדָ֣ה (the congregation) הַזֹּ֑את (of this), וַאַכַלֶּ֥ה (that I may consume) אֹתָ֖ם (them) כְּרָֽגַע׃ (in a moment).

22  וַיִּפְּל֤וּ (And they fell) עַל־ (on) פְּנֵיהֶם֙ (their faces) וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ (and said), אֵ֕ל (O God), אֱלֹהֵ֥י (the God) הָרוּחֹ֖ת (of the spirits) לְכָל־ (of all) בָּשָׂ֑ר (flesh), הָאִ֤ישׁ (the man) אֶחָד֙ (one) יֶחֱטָ֔א (sins), וְעַ֥ל (and with) כָּל־ (all) הָעֵדָ֖ה (the congregation) תִּקְצֹֽף׃פ (are You angry)?

Moses Separates the People

23  וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 24  דַּבֵּ֥ר (Speak) אֶל־ (to) הָעֵדָ֖ה (the congregation), לֵאמֹ֑ר (saying), הֵֽעָלוּ֙ (Get away) מִסָּבִ֔יב (from) לְמִשְׁכַּן־ (the tents) קֹ֖רַח (of Korah), דָּתָ֥ן (Dathan), וַאֲבִירָֽם׃ (and Abiram).

25  וַיָּ֣קָם (And rose) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (Moses) וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ (and went) אֶל־ (to) דָּתָ֣ן (Dathan) וַאֲבִירָ֑ם (and Abiram), וַיֵּלְכ֥וּ (and followed) אַחֲרָ֖יו (him) זִקְנֵ֥י (the elders) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel). 26  וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר (And he spoke) אֶל־ (to) הָעֵדָ֜ה (the congregation), לֵאמֹ֗ר (saying), ס֣וּרוּ (Depart) נָ֡א (now) מֵעַל֩ (from) אָהֳלֵ֨י (the tents) הָאֲנָשִׁ֤ים (of the men) הָֽרְשָׁעִים֙ (wicked) הָאֵ֔לֶּה (these) וְאַֽל־ (and not) תִּגְּע֖וּ (touch) בְּכָל־ (anything) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that is) לָהֶ֑ם (unto them), פֶּן־ (lest) תִּסָּפ֖וּ (you⁺ be consumed) בְּכָל־ (in all) חַטֹּאתָֽם׃ (their sins).

27  וַיֵּעָל֗וּ (And they got away) מֵעַ֧ל (from around) מִשְׁכַּן־ (the tents) קֹ֛רֶח (of Korah), דָּתָ֥ן (Dathan), וַאֲבִירָ֖ם (and Abiram). מִסָּבִ֑יב (From all around) וְדָתָ֨ן (and Dathan) וַאֲבִירָ֜ם (and Abiram) יָצְא֣וּ (came out) נִצָּבִ֗ים (and stood at) פֶּ֚תַח (the door) אָֽהֳלֵיהֶ֔ם (of their tents)— וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֥ם (and their wives), וּבְנֵיהֶ֖ם (and their sons), וְטַפָּֽם׃ (and their infants).

The Earth Swallows Korah

28  וַיֹּאמֶר֮ (And said) מֹשֶׁה֒ (Moses), בְּזֹאת֙ (By this) תֵּֽדְע֔וּן (you⁺ shall know) כִּֽי־ (that) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) שְׁלָחַ֔נִי (has sent me) לַעֲשׂ֕וֹת (to do) אֵ֥ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הַֽמַּעֲשִׂ֖ים (the works) הָאֵ֑לֶּה (these); כִּי־ (for) לֹ֖א (they are not) מִלִּבִּֽי׃ (from my own heart). 29  אִם־ (If) כְּמ֤וֹת (like the death) כָּל־ (of every) הָֽאָדָם֙ (man) יְמֻת֣וּן (die) אֵ֔לֶּה (these ones), וּפְקֻדַּת֙ (or if the common fate) כָּל־ (of all) הָ֣אָדָ֔ם (men) יִפָּקֵ֖ד (is visited) עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם (upon them), לֹ֥א (then not) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) שְׁלָחָֽנִי׃ (has sent me). 30  וְאִם־ (But if) בְּרִיאָ֞ה (a new thing) יִבְרָ֣א (creates) יְהוָ֗ה (YHWH), וּפָצְתָ֨ה (and opens) הָאֲדָמָ֤ה (the earth) אֶת־ (-) פִּ֙יהָ֙ (its mouth) וּבָלְעָ֤ה (and swallows) אֹתָם֙ (them) וְאֶת־ (and) כָּל־ (all) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) לָהֶ֔ם (belongs to them) וְיָרְד֥וּ (and they go down) חַיִּ֖ים (alive) שְׁאֹ֑לָה (into the pit), וִֽידַעְתֶּ֕ם (then you⁺ will know) כִּ֧י (that) נִֽאֲצ֛וּ (have spurned) הָאֲנָשִׁ֥ים (the men) הָאֵ֖לֶּה (these) אֶת־ (-) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).

31  וַיְהִי֙ (And it came to pass), כְּכַלֹּת֔וֹ (as he finished) לְדַבֵּ֕ר (speaking) אֵ֥ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הַדְּבָרִ֖ים (the words), הָאֵ֑לֶּה (these) וַתִּבָּקַ֥ע (that split apart) הָאֲדָמָ֖ה (the ground) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) תַּחְתֵּיהֶֽם׃ (was under them), 32  וַתִּפְתַּ֤ח (and opened) הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ (the earth) אֶת־ (-) פִּ֔יהָ (its mouth) וַתִּבְלַ֥ע (and swallowed them up), אֹתָ֖ם (-) וְאֶת־ (and) בָּתֵּיהֶ֑ם (their houses), וְאֵ֤ת (and) כָּל־ (all) הָאָדָם֙ (the men) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that were) לְקֹ֔רַח (with Korah), וְאֵ֖ת (and) כָּל־ (all) הָרֲכֽוּשׁ׃ (the goods). 33  וַיֵּ֨רְד֜וּ (And they went down) הֵ֣ם (they) וְכָל־ (and all) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (those) לָהֶ֛ם (with them) חַיִּ֖ים (alive) שְׁאֹ֑לָה (into the pit), וַתְּכַ֤ס (and closed) עֲלֵיהֶם֙ (over them) הָאָ֔רֶץ (the earth), וַיֹּאבְד֖וּ (and they perished) מִתּ֥וֹךְ (from the midst) הַקָּהָֽל׃ (of the assembly).

34  וְכָל־ (And all) יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל (Israel) אֲשֶׁ֛ר (who were) סְבִיבֹתֵיהֶ֖ם (around them) נָ֣סוּ (fled) לְקֹלָ֑ם (at their cry), כִּ֣י (for) אָֽמְר֔וּ (they said), פֶּן־ (Lest) תִּבְלָעֵ֖נוּ (swallow us) הָאָֽרֶץ׃ (the earth). 35  וְאֵ֥שׁ (And a fire) יָצְאָ֖ה (came out) מֵאֵ֣ת (from) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH) וַתֹּ֗אכַל (and consumed) אֵ֣ת (-) הַחֲמִשִּׁ֤ים (the fifty) וּמָאתַ֙יִם֙ (and two hundred) אִ֔ישׁ (men) מַקְרִיבֵ֖י (who were offering) הַקְּטֹֽרֶת׃פ (the incense).

The Censers Reserved for Holy Use

36  וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 37  אֱמֹ֨ר (Speak) אֶל־ (to) אֶלְעָזָ֜ר (Eleazar) בֶּן־ (son) אַהֲרֹ֣ן (of Aaron) הַכֹּהֵ֗ן (the priest), וְיָרֵ֤ם (and he shall lift up) אֶת־ (-) הַמַּחְתֹּת֙ (the firepans) מִבֵּ֣ין (out) הַשְּׂרֵפָ֔ה (of the blaze) וְאֶת־ (and) הָאֵ֖שׁ (the fire) זְרֵה־ (to scatter) הָ֑לְאָה (some distance away), כִּ֖י (for) קָדֵֽשׁוּ׃ (they are holy). 38  אֵ֡ת (-) מַחְתּוֹת֩ (the censers) הַֽחַטָּאִ֨ים (of the sinners) הָאֵ֜לֶּה (these) בְּנַפְשֹׁתָ֗ם (against their own souls), וְעָשׂ֨וּ (and let be made) אֹתָ֜ם (them) רִקֻּעֵ֤י (hammered) פַחִים֙ (into plates) צִפּ֣וּי (as a covering) לַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ (for the altar) כִּֽי־ (because) הִקְרִיבֻ֥ם (they presented them) לִפְנֵֽי־ (before the face of) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH); וַיִּקְדָּ֑שׁוּ (and they are holy) וְיִֽהְי֥וּ (and they shall be) לְא֖וֹת (a sign) לִבְנֵ֥י (to the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel).

39  וַיִּקַּ֞ח (And took) אֶלְעָזָ֣ר (Eleazar) הַכֹּהֵ֗ן (the priest) אֵ֚ת (-) מַחְתּ֣וֹת (firepans) הַנְּחֹ֔שֶׁת (the bronze) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) הִקְרִ֖יבוּ (had presented) הַשְּׂרֻפִ֑ים (the burned ones), וַֽיְרַקְּע֖וּם (and they were hammered out) צִפּ֥וּי (as a covering) לַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃ (on the altar), 40  זִכָּר֞וֹן (a memorial) לִבְנֵ֣י (to the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל (of Israel), לְ֠מַעַן (so) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) לֹֽא־ (not) יִקְרַ֜ב (should come near) אִ֣ישׁ (a son) זָ֗ר (of a foreigner) אֲ֠שֶׁר (who) לֹ֣א (not) מִזֶּ֤רַע (a descendant) אַהֲרֹן֙ (of Aaron) ה֔וּא (is), לְהַקְטִ֥יר (to offer) קְטֹ֖רֶת (incense) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face of) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH), וְלֹֽא־ (that not) יִהְיֶ֤ה (he might become) כְקֹ֙רַח֙ (like Korah) וְכַ֣עֲדָת֔וֹ (and his companions), כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר (as) דִּבֶּ֧ר (had said) יְהוָ֛ה (YHWH) בְּיַד־ (by the hand of) מֹשֶׁ֖ה (Moses) לֽוֹ׃ (to him).

41  וַיִּלֹּ֜נוּ (And murmured) כָּל־ (all) עֲדַ֤ת (the congregation) בְּנֵֽי־ (of the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ (of Israel) מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת (on the next day) עַל־ (against) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses) וְעַֽל־ (and) אַהֲרֹ֖ן (Aaron), לֵאמֹ֑ר (saying), אַתֶּ֥ם (You⁺) הֲמִתֶּ֖ם (have killed) אֶת־ (-) עַ֥ם (the people) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH). 42  וַיְהִ֗י (And it came to pass), בְּהִקָּהֵ֤ל (when had gathered) הָֽעֵדָה֙ (the congregation) עַל־ (against) מֹשֶׁ֣ה (Moses) וְעַֽל־ (and) אַהֲרֹ֔ן (Aaron), וַיִּפְנוּ֙ (that they turned) אֶל־ (toward) אֹ֣הֶל (the Tent) מוֹעֵ֔ד (of Meeting), וְהִנֵּ֥ה (and behold) כִסָּ֖הוּ (covered it) הֶעָנָ֑ן (the cloud) וַיֵּרָ֖א (and appeared) כְּב֥וֹד (the glory) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

43  וַיָּבֹ֤א (And came) מֹשֶׁה֙ (Moses) וְאַהֲרֹ֔ן (and Aaron) אֶל־ (to) פְּנֵ֖י (the face) אֹ֥הֶל (of the Tent) מוֹעֵֽד׃פ (of Meeting). 44  וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 45  הֵרֹ֗מּוּ (Get away) מִתּוֹךְ֙ (from the midst) הָעֵדָ֣ה (the congregation) הַזֹּ֔את (of this), וַאֲכַלֶּ֥ה (that I may consume) אֹתָ֖ם (them) כְּרָ֑גַע (in a moment). וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ (And they fell) עַל־ (on) פְּנֵיהֶֽם׃ (their faces).

46  וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And said) מֹשֶׁ֜ה (Moses) אֶֽל־ (to) אַהֲרֹ֗ן (Aaron), קַ֣ח (Take) אֶת־ (-) הַ֠מַּחְתָּה (the firepan), וְתֶן־ (and put) עָלֶ֨יהָ (on it) אֵ֜שׁ (fire) מֵעַ֤ל (from) הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ (the altar), וְשִׂ֣ים (and set on it) קְטֹ֔רֶת (incense), וְהוֹלֵ֧ךְ (and take quickly) מְהֵרָ֛ה (it) אֶל־ (to) הָעֵדָ֖ה (the congregation) וְכַפֵּ֣ר (and make atonement) עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם (upon them). כִּֽי־ (For) יָצָ֥א (has gone out) הַקֶּ֛צֶף (the wrath) מִלִּפְנֵ֥י (from before the face) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH)— הֵחֵ֥ל (has begun) הַנָּֽגֶף׃ (the plague).

47  וַיִּקַּ֨ח (And took it) אַהֲרֹ֜ן (Aaron) כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר׀ (as) דִּבֶּ֣ר (commanded) מֹשֶׁ֗ה (Moses), וַיָּ֙רָץ֙ (and he ran) אֶל־ (into) תּ֣וֹך (the midst) הַקָּהָ֔ל (of the assembly); וְהִנֵּ֛ה (and behold) הֵחֵ֥ל (had begun) הַנֶּ֖גֶף (the plague) בָּעָ֑ם (among the people). וַיִּתֵּן֙ (And he put in) אֶֽת־ (-) הַקְּטֹ֔רֶת (the incense) וַיְכַפֵּ֖ר (and made atonement) עַל־ (upon) הָעָֽם׃ (the people). 48  וַיַּעֲמֹ֥ד (And he stood) בֵּֽין־ (between) הַמֵּתִ֖ים (the dead) וּבֵ֣ין (and between) הַֽחַיִּ֑ים (the living); וַתֵּעָצַ֖ר (and was stopped) הַמַּגֵּפָֽה׃ (the plague). 49  וַיִּהְי֗וּ (And were) הַמֵּתִים֙ (those who died) בַּמַּגֵּפָ֔ה (in the plague) אַרְבָּעָ֥ה (four) עָשָׂ֛ר (and ten) אֶ֖לֶף (thousand) וּשְׁבַ֣ע (and seven) מֵא֑וֹת (hundred), מִלְּבַ֥ד (besides) הַמֵּתִ֖ים (those who died) עַל־ (on) דְּבַר־ (account) קֹֽרַח׃ (of Korah).

50  וַיָּ֤שָׁב (And returned) אַהֲרֹן֙ (Aaron) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֔ה (Moses) אֶל־ (at) פֶּ֖תַח (the door) אֹ֣הֶל (of the Tent) מוֹעֵ֑ד (of Meeting), וְהַמַּגֵּפָ֖ה (and for the plague) נֶעֱצָֽרָה׃פ (had stopped).
