The restoration of the land after the locust devastation would reveal that the LORD had not abandoned His covenant people. His dwelling among Israel, first associated with the tabernacle and later the temple, marked them as His chosen nation and brought protection, order, and blessing, foreshadowing Jesus Christ, Emmanuel, “God with us.”

Israel would recognize again the God who delivered them from Egypt and bound Himself to them by covenant. The LORD alone was their rightful ruler and object of worship, unlike the idols honored by surrounding nations.

The coming deliverance would demonstrate the LORD’s absolute supremacy. Israel’s restoration was not the work of nature, military power, or another god, but of the one true God.

My people will never again be put to shame.
